Bad Business At The Boleyn
There may be a logical reason for this and, if you know what it is, please let me know.
Now, to begin, I was always taught by my parents to "Look after the pennies and then the pounds look after themselves" and I have never been in debt in my life as a result. So, I am struggling to understand the logic of releasing Kyel Reid on a free.
Hammers fans are understandably annoyed that Reid has signed for Shafting United but, in many respects, that is missing the point. From what I can make out, Reid was wanted by a number of clubs, having acquitted himself well whilst out on loan. And he has made it onto the pitch in Claret & Blue 9 times so he obviously isn't a complete mug.
So tell me, why didn't we try to sell the guy for a modest sum? I know £200,000 would be a drop in the ocean given the £25m we have to pay the Blunted Blades, but anything is better than nothing surely? In fact, £200,000 might just about pay Ashton or Dyer's medical bills for a whole month!

He was out of contract, to sell him on we would of had to offer him a new one and to sell him straight after we had signed him up would be a bit hypocritical and not exactly fair on him and his confidence. I think clubs were only interested because he was free.
Please stop making 20+ blogs a day, their really bad and an embaressment to West Ham.
blimey... a post actually worth ready!
good point
west ham should have sold him months ago if they knew he wasn't going to make the grade, like you say a modest fee is better than no fee. however i have read a lot of angery comments about west ham letting him join sheff utd, but last time i checked free agents can join whoever they choose to join without the clubs blessing. so the situation arose, offer him a new deal and stick him in the reserves because he isn't good enough or let him go on a free and at 22 that maybe is the best thing to do.
As I understand it his contract came to an end and it was decided not to renew it so he was released. Thats the end of the matter so far as WHU are concerned.
You've not made the grade son, on your way.
From there he is free to sign for any club that wants him and its a matter solely between him and that club.
There's no reason why any contact between The Whippet Botherers and WHU should have taken place.
2045, it's an average of less than 3 a day actually. Nobody makes you read them.
20:45 has effectively ended discussion on this debate lol
Well 2351, it perhaps shifts the debate to standards of education in England given the guy's spelling of they're and embarrassment!
As I understood it, if a player under 23 leaves a club, regardless of the contract situation, a fee is payable to the club that nurtured him, frequently decided by tribunal.
All I can assume is, we've probably waived that for the good of Reid himself and maybe as part of the Tevezgate deal?
Or, we could shift attention to you admitting that that reply has effectively ended this debate
Am I continuing the debate?
Ok i think we have firmly established that your arrogant and can't admit your article is pointless
Not another mass debate on here.
1444, you mean you're. Here's a tip, read the first line of the article, what does it say?
Fair enough, you got me there. Now you have YOUR answer, please delete this page.
If i wanted a grammer check i would have asked for one.
1630, it is grammar. Why delete the article?
Ok so you love correcting my spelling, congratulations, do you correct everyone who uses shortcuts in text messages?. I see you have even gone as far as to put a spell checker on this. from the times in which you seem to be responding, i take it you have no job, this is your job, or your retired. I'll go for the first 2
You are or "you're" retired actually. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't you start the criticising? Is it not ok to respond in kind? Without wishing to sound like the Harry Enfield character, I suspect that I am considerably richer than youwl (deliberate phonetic spelling). Retired? No. Playing footy tonight.
I wouldn't be suprised if YOU'RE richer than me, i've just left college, whereas you are an elderly man (as i suspect from your fondness of Harry Enfield and chums)
I am sure Cantona still plays football, he has retired.
Anyway, we sound like a couple of bi*chs lol
