Do we need or want Kovac back?
There are rumours that Zola is trying to negotiate another loan deal for Kovac. This is a strange one for me because our greater needs seem to be in other positions - unless, of course, Parker's fitness is a greater concern than we have been led to believe. Kovac is hardly a straight replacement for Boa is he? And he isn't going to lead the line is he? And he doesn't play right back does he?
Looking back at Kovac's spell with us, I am unconvinced that he has what it takes to make it in the Prem. Yes there was THAT goal but I remember him giving away any number of free kicks just outside our box - and he was certainly at fault when we went out of the Cup against Boro. Resigning him would not fill me with expectation, how about you?

I'd happily have Kovac back on another 6 month loan deal! But foor the love of all things good, Zola and Nani, please please sort out the striker situation! We NEED someone fast!
What happens when (and you KNOW he will) Cole gets injured??? We will be left with a couple of 16 year olds while Ashton warms the physio couch over at Stoke!
Come on, don't let us down guys!
i think that signing kovac again would fill me with absolute negativity leading up to the start of the season, the guy was absolutely useless, yes he worked hard, but i cant remember a midfielger that has such a blatent inability to pass the ball! after seeing the pre-season friendly's, and monotoring our somewhat bizarre attempts to sign players this summer, I am really starting to feel worried about this season, and Zola re-opening the Kovac door should proves to me that he is running out of ideas for who to bring in!
I think it is strange that we aren't being linked with a right back in case lucas doesn't re-sign, especially as zola and nani haven't been exactly discreet with our transfer dealings. there are no doubt options available out there (if Pompey could afford Finnan, then why couldn't we??) but there seems to have been an underlying strangeness to our transfer dealings all summer.
This maybe a comment that will get a lot of stick for various reasons - but I wonder if we could of gone in for Pizarro on loan for the season, i know he's looked crap for chelsea, but if u look at his record before them, he was a proven goal scorer (around a goal every 2 games.) He's not going to get a game at chelsea, and other then chelsea offering him out in part exchange deals, it doesn't seem to be much out there for him, so why not give it a go, we were willing to bring in tristan after all!
we're light in defensive midfield and although he's hardly a heavyweight, Kovac has shown some good glimpses. Trouble is i've seen him run about ineffectually headless chicken styley. Him n Neill won't be the fittest i suppose either if they come back through the catflap.
Good question Hammersfan, very difficult. I'm undecided on Kovac. He tried hard of course, & things didn't go all that well, but that happens when you are trying too hard sometimes. Given time to settle in he may be useful but more in defensive role in the middle as that's where he plays. As you say, a back up for Parker. On a 6 month loan it would depend on what his wages are. A permanent deal as he wants, nah. We are not short in midfield & we need someone up front really. He could be useful, he is experienced, if the luck with injuries continues per say, but i would think that he needs us more than we need him, it would come down to money & lets have another look. Straight out answer, no, didn't show enough, we have other priorities.
Probably a lot to do with our inability to find a pot to piss in at the moment!
I heard Nani has been offering free hugs and Duxbury is seeing if Barcelona will take Buttons for Eidur...
Hang on, running the club down is your job isn't it?
