Cole KO Could Be Killer Blow

It was always going to happen of course. If you allow yourself to be boxed into the corner and find yourself on the ropes, sooner or later a swinging haymaker of a punch is going to land square on your jaw and knock you to the canvass. So if you are utterly reliant on one or two players you are going to hit trouble sooner or later, as even Liverpool are finding to their cost. Cole isn't Torres and Behrami isn't Gerrard, but they are as important to ourselves as the Liverpool duo are to the Reds, as we are about to discover to our cost.

Even this week a critic of this blog has been challenging me for being unnecessarily negative and for being excessively pessimistic about our goal scoring potential. Well, throughout, I have warned about the dangers of having no back up for what initially was our lone striker, then, with the arrival of Franco, for either of our two strikers. Injury to Cole was always going to spell disaster so it was inevitable in a universe run by a Tottenham supporting God (well he is always wearing white isn't he?) that Cole would be injured wasn't it? Of course it was, because strikers do pick up injuries!

So the inevitable has happened and where, exactly, is the contingency planning? That would be the same contingency planning involved in the failure to source a replacement for Neill wouldn't it? And the same contingency planning that resulted in us relying exclusively on Ilunga staying injury free and on top of his game to fill the left back position. And the same contingency planning that saw us sell Collins without any apparent consideration given to how this would impact on our goals against column. And the same contingency planning that saw Duxbury offer oral cuddles to IKEA's lawyer. And the same contingency planning that saw us settle out of court with Shafting United ahead of an official finding that no further punishment was merited.

Of course, Duxbury told us he had everything under control when he spoke to the back crack licking blogs. Cole injured? No problems, because according to those interviews, The Dux was looking forward to seeing Beano leading the line! With contingency planning like that, is it any wonder the club is lurching deeper and deeper into crisis?

The Cole KO should indeed be a killer blow - Duxbury, who has overseen this mess, should be counted out to prevent us all from further suffering. I predicted he would be gone by Easter. I think he should throw in the towel now!

I hadn't seen confirmation of how long Cole was out for, I thought we were all still waiting for the news - unless Scott Duxburry called you direct?

Oh yeh, one more thing - I thought we looked excellent Saturday until we lost Franco, as did every other fan around me - once he was off there was no one to hold the ball up top. I will only cut my wrists if we loose him as well as Cole (That's if we have lost him!!!)

I see that we have deferred publishing our accounts for the year ending May 2009 until February 2010. I would suggest that they show the real reason behind us having little or no cover in the majority of positions.

It's hard to make any contingency plans when you haven't got a brass farthing to your name.

I think we can draw or beat United without Cole. If you look at Vidic when he's been beaten for pace he seems to think he's playing rugby and subsequently gets sent off for being the last man. If Hines can be that pace I think we have a chance. I wouldn't expect us to score many if a game like this anyway, and i'm hoping we are working very hard on our defence in training. I'm going for a 1-1 draw.

Can I just ask HF if he's willing to eat a slice of humple pie for laughing at the fella who suggested we could beat Burnley 4-0, after all, it did happen at one point in the game.

1906, he is out for at least 5 weeks, may be as many as 12!

I agree about Franco. He will get injured over the next 3 months on the law of averages and if Cole is out that long, then we will all be slitting our wrists mate! Blood will have blood as Macbeth says!

Straightforward, Dux is at least in part to blame for our shortage of dosh. In fact, he is hugely to blame. His oral cuddles cost us £25m!

TIS, hope you are right about Hines, I see your logic! No apology or humble pie, read again, I wasmocking him for calling the correct score AND naming all the scorers. He was way off! He predicted 4-1 and Alexander was his call to score for Burnley from a penalty. What idiot goes public with that precise a prediction? 5-3 and wrong scorers, so he was hopelessly wrong!
