Why Tottenham's King Should Be Banned.
Geoff Hurst has come out in support of 'Arry's tough stance on Ledley King's drunken brawl, backing the pledge of the Great Twitcher to discipline the Tottenham and Not Available For England defender. Hurst, of course, knows all about the drinking culture in football, having shared a dressing room for many years with the great but far from tea total Bobby Moore and, for a brief time, with his drinking partner in chief, Jwimmy Gweaves.
Quite how 'Arry thinks he is going to stop it, however, is a mystery. Reading the Tottenham blogs (without bothering to post abuse), it appears that Ledley is well known for enjoying a few jars of an evening; and I don't see him changing that habit, whatever 'Arry might have to say on the matter. Let's face it, Tottenham play the guy without any cartilage in his knees so they are not going to drop him for getting boozed up are they?
'Arry is sounding off, of course, and there will be no action, just as Zola expressed disapproval but did nothing about Carlton's arrest for drink driving nor Tristan's drink induced car accident. These footballers are a law unto themselves; much like our MPs.
The only way forward is for the FA and Premier League to take a stand. I would like to see a professional code of conduct introduced, whereby players found to have brought the game into disrepute are banned for a substantial number of games and fined punitively. The clubs are not going to shoot themselves in the foot by banning key players, nor by upsetting them to the point where they demand a move. So the professional bodies responsible for the game have to take a stand. If King now faced a six game ban and loss of salary over the period of the ban, he might think twice before going on the lash again. And the clubs might just take a more active role in demanding that professional standards are met to prevent losing key players for off the field misdemeanors.
8. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
ReplyDelete9. (little)west ham united
:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Just because 9/10 spurs end above you and beat you, you start crying. Soon Millwall will be in the same division as you and then you can enjoy banter with a fellow little club
ReplyDeleteWEST HAMS OUR FEEDER CLUB, WEST HAMS OUR FEEDER CLUB, WEST HAMS OUR FEEDER CLUB, WEST HAMS OUR FEEDER CLUB!
ReplyDeletewhy does this small club care what happenes at the mighty spurs anyway... also why wasnt stevey g banned for attacking the dj if ledley should be...
What is the west ham link to this article anyway, or is it just the harry redknapp is in, west hams biggest claim to fame... HARRY REDKNAPP!!!
Yeah and the woman who serves the food (no not lasagne) in the canteen was caught speeding the other day, so the FA should suspend her to?
ReplyDeleteIt's english players that do this in my team this does not happen Barcelona do not accept this, Only small clubs like tottenham that win nothing great in england do this, they need to try to be a BIG team like Barcelona
ReplyDeleteTypical Tottenham response! This article is NOT about Tottenham but you would have to be able to read through the full article to understand that! West Ham connection? Hurst? Moore? Greaves? Cole? Tristan? Zola?
ReplyDeleteMorons! Hang on, Tottenham fans so why am I surprised?

Rename yaself monkey wrench, you're clearly the biggest tool in the bag.

ReplyDeleteTypical Spuds racist to the end.
ReplyDeleteMore sick racists I'm afraid. Comments deleted. King may be a twat but that has NOTHING to do with his colour. Adams, Best, Greaves and Merson were all white the last time I saw them!
ReplyDeleteThe FA should also introduce a law or code where if you play a player who is not officially part of your club, belongs to a third party or the fa is lied to about the eligebility of a player then points should be docked from said club.
ReplyDeleteOr you could pay a fine and hire that same third party to advise you on transfer dealings.
Or if you sponsor goes down you can all put lovely numbers on the fronts of your shirts so you look like fun runners.
Or you could pay Lucas Neil £70,000 grand a week to be your captain.
Or if your beaten by a team who are known for having jewish supporters, you can really racist to them when they leave your ground.
Or you could go about not winning anything in living memory and then claim to be a big club.
Mind you you could just write about a better club all day long trying to smear hate with your words but you just come across looking jealous.
COYS!!!!!!!
right on the money 18:19, well said
ReplyDeleteNot a very good idea Hammerfan. Take the responsibility away from clubs and put it on the FA? You must be joking. They don't actually do anything except talk amongst themselves about how important they are, so why would individual player discipline be any different? And wouldn't Chelsea and Manure players get off lightly and smaller clubs get examples made of them?

No discretion mate, fixed tariffs. Six games for bringing the game into disrepute. Bang.
ReplyDeleteYou sort of ask for trouble don't you.
ReplyDelete"'Arry is sounding off, of course, and there will be no action, just as Zola expressed disapproval but did nothing about Carlton's arrest for drink driving nor Tristan's drink induced car accident. These footballers are a law unto themselves; much like our MPs."
Do you see the irony in using King as your headliner, when drink driving is far far worse than mugging yourself off outside a club.

Are you saying ban King because you know King is integral to Spurs' defence and you want West Ham to pip Spurs this season?
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because I don't think you would say this if it was Upson instead of King.
Two the two posters above, I mention Cole and Tristan. I call for a common punishment for all irrespective of the club. It's just that King is most topical at moment isn't he?

ReplyDeleteAnother sad poster using crude racism.
ReplyDeleteI am spurs but i agree King should be banned for disrepute - he is a disgusting role model
ReplyDeletelook at his career - how many times he has been red carded - yellow cards - arguing with referees - spitting at opponents - fighting with opponents - malicious tackles - controvrsial comments - drink driving - refusing to sign autographs - he is a thoroughly disgusting character
oh - but hang on !!
previous 3 or 4 threads had very little response, so i will put ""tottenhams king should be banned" in a headline noing it will get me hits from spurs fans!
ReplyDeletewest ham shouldn't even legally be in the prem!!!! the cheek of it!
ReplyDeletelegally they should and i remember when spurs had 12 points deducted
ReplyDeleteHe got drunk... who cares!!! whats wrong with having a little drink everynow and again!!! its the press that blow it out of proportion!!! Shut up with your moaning and let the lad have fun... and i'm a west ham fan for anyone that cares - Tottenham are better than us, get over it!!
ReplyDeleteyou all sound like a bunch of school kids - GROW UP!!
Mmmm
ReplyDeleteEver heard of trial by jury instead of trial by media and innocent until proven guilty?
ReplyDelete2027, these Spurs fans are so easily suckered. As I've said before, most West Ham fans can't read and write and haven't got electricity to the caravans so they can't reply anyway!
ReplyDelete2326, 'Arry hasn't obviously - he has condemned King already!
I agree.....west ham would be without a squad fron Jan to May after the usual xmas party highjinxs - Is this blog the biggest waste of time? West ham fans should be renamed AntiSpurs fans, coz your fans would rather Spurs lose than west ham win....you'll never ever be as big as spurs!!!
