And THAT is why Test Cricket is the BEST game in the world!

It defied all logic - Australia murdered us over 5 days but we emerged as the psychological victors after a nail biting draw - but who cares about logic? You can imagine Yanks scratching their heads in total bemusement if anybody tried to explain why a no result was so incredibly exciting, but for anybody who knows anything about the true drama of sport, today's events were up there with the very best. Anderson and Panesar of all people, holding the Aussie bowlers at bay for the best part of an hour - that is comparable to the Colchester victory over the then mighty Leeds United!

Twenty20 cricket? Stuff it. Two guys blocking and counting down the minutes was far more exciting for any true cricket fan. I am at Lords next Saturday and I can't wait!

  1. Cricket is the most inclusive sport of them all, individual contribution within the team ethic. A place for everyone from the blacksmith to the village doctor, played with a spirit that rarely sees the pavilion lights dimmed before 11pm.

What a marvelous game that was, unintelligible I'm sure for many in this age of instant gratification. But sadly Test cricket is dying, unless England are playing, the crowds are dwindling year on year. More suited to a bygone age where the game was more important than the result, the current appetite for rounders indicative of society as a whole.

Test cricket is lifetime commitment, it's a deep and meaningfull relationship, it's a marriage of passion and respect, it's tantric sex. Twenty20 is a quick shag in the pub car park by comparison.

  2. Best game in the world? Undoubtedly the most boring game in the world, and 5 days of it?
How an earth anyone can call it exciting is beyond me.

  3. Glad you enjoyed it mate really so pleased for you, ecstatic in fact, over the moon. Does that mean you're going to leave us REAL football fans alone now? Particularly us Hammers it would be good to get rid of the shame and embarrassment you've heaped upon us of late; it is going to take a long time for the wounds to clear up but time is a great healer as they say - WestHamUnited4ever - Good luck with your cricket, hope England win

  4. Second best.

Have you seen the new home kit?
    Horrible. Truly nasty.

The away kit is the one to wear this season.

JH and family - my thoughts are with you.

  5. make sure you lock your caravan when you leave on Saturday. You get some dodgy types in St. John's Wood.

  8. How can I embarrass West Ham fans? I do not represent West Ham fans. I am not endorsed by the club in any way so I cannot embarrass the club in any way. Simples.
