From Out Of The Ashes - Glory! Watch Out Tottenham and Man City!

Weeks don't come much worse than this one! The stabbing of Davenport, rumours of Ashton's early retirement, Collison's personal tragedy, defeat to Tottenham under 'Arry the Albatross, an inept first half performance against Millwall, the stabbing, the riots, the racist chanting and the pitch invasions. Who in their right minds would choose to be a Hammers fan? Well, unhappily or otherwise, it isn't a choice - a blessing, a curse, an affliction, a disease - you takes your pick but choice doesn't come into it. I was born in East Ham Maternity Hospital and was breast fed on the good milk of the club. Moore, Hurst, Peters, Brooking, Bonds, Devonshire, Di Canio, Rio, Carrick, Joe Cole - the gods have been kind sometimes!

Now we can look forward. Diamanti, it seems, is in the bag and there are still rumours about Eider and Chamakh. Upson came on last night with the score at 3-1, suggesting that he, at least, is going nowhere before the window closes. Parker also played. Despite the carnage and shame last night, there were positives: Stanislas is growing as a player and can score from midfield, Collison is already mature beyond his years and possesses a huge heart obviously, Gabbidon returned and stayed on for the full 120 minutes, future England captain Tomkins made his seasonal bow, Hines took his chance superbly and looks as if he could be a useful impact sub at least, Parker is fit enough to play two high tempo games in the space of three days and Faubert continues to impress.

And best of all, Behrami is on his way back.

The ingredients are so nearly there for a very good team. Collins would be a loss but he can be replaced - for now Upson is the more important defensive lynch pin. Put Upson, Jimenez, Diamanti, Ilunga, Noble and Dyer into the team that played last night and you will have a side bristling with goal scoring potential. Add Eider to that side and from goal shy, we could become goal gluttons! Imagine, for a moment, a 4-2-3-1 team made up thus:

Green
Faubert, Tomkins, Upson, Ilunga;
Parker, Behrami;
Eider, Diamante, Jimenez;
Cole.

We would still have Dyer, Collison, Stanislas, Kovac, Savio and Noble on the bench, not to mention Chamakh!

I tell you what, whisper it quietly, but that team would be a match for ANY team in the division, with the possible exception of Chelsea. If Zola and Duxbury deliver that squad by the time the window closes, I will retract EVERYTHING I have said. I would have to because, with a little luck with injuries, we would be in with a real shout of finishing in the top 4! The Tottenham and Unreal City fans may mock but out of adversity comes...

  4. sort your fans out 1st. ur a shambolic little club and your gonna screw things up for the whole country. yesterday was pathetic. its not the 80's. its gonna take more than bloody eidur to sort you lot out. i know its a minority but its unacceptable. at no other prem club does this happen. u could well have demolished the world cup chances, but also made future millwall games played behind closed doors. well done. you really are your own worst enemy

  13. spurs fans really are the most deluded in the prem now the toon are gone; 3 games gone and they giving it the big "i am". they also seem to be devoid of a collective sense of humour.

    will they ever learn?

  14. 22,18 maybe is Pav was given a chance instead of constantly moved down the pecking order he could be good! Tottenham are, IMO very quick to kick players out the door when they 'underachieve', e.g Bentley, Bent (your top goalscorer), Pav, Chimbonda, That Welsh kid at left back.

  15. what a silly article, west ham getting 10th would be a great success this season, we (spurs) played pretty average at your place afew days ago, and still left with all 3 points, what does that say? it says you have nowhere near the team or squad to challenge villa, spurs, city, etc etc for the top 6, let alone the top 4! if spurs had been right on top of their game the scoreline would of been greater, lets see what it is when you come to WHL...our 2nd team is currently much stronger than west hams 1st team without a doubt

    You Tottenham fans are really myopic and stupid aren't you? Yes there was a very small section of idiots that had the cheek to call themselves West Ham fans, but it was against Millwall FFS! A game where the thugs of yesteryear form both sides turn up just to have a ruck and incite violence as they probably don't turn up for any other game. And if you think that there would not have been the same scenes at Shite Fart Lane if you were playing Millwall, then you are stupid, ignorant and deluded as you have a few old boys from the 80s yourselves you know who would turn up themselves for a game like that, in fact rumour has it that there was a contingent of Tottenham fans among others that turned up at Green Street just to have a ruck. So think on before you make such idiotic, ignorant and juvenile comments. And Spurs to finish in the top four? Noooo effing chance!!!

  17. It seems to me as a foreign import to this fan lark that Spurs fans are as boastful and boorish as ManU fans but without the results to back it Man City on the other I wish best of luck to (wish we had a sugar daddy-no not really I like the underdog tag) but fair play proper fans lets hope success doesn't ruin you

    You mug. Firstly, hardly any Spurs fan is talking about the top 4. Its perpetuated nonsense churned out by people who just want to hate us even more than they do (so lovely to have so many people worrying about us).

    Secondly, WE are giving it the big I am? Really? Because I see no Spurs fans getting tattoos stating Champions Leagues winners 2011, you insufferable melter.
