The Cracks Are Appearing And Widening
First it was Green criticising the rest of the team, then Zola had a go at his players via the press, then there were rumours that Zola was unhappy with Nani and now we read that Duxbury demanded to see Zola after the Fulham game and hear Zola effectively calling his players gutless. These are the clasic signs of a club lurching into crisis. Duxbury and Zola have been very good up until now at presenting a smiling, unified front, and the Claret and Blue Klan have been happy to buy into the "Everything is on course" deception. Yet all along, this blog has been predicting a disaster, pointing out how Duxbury has been pulling the wool over everybody's eyes, highlighting the frailties in the squad and the risks we were exposing ourselves to because of lack of cover for key positions but nobody wanted to listen. "Shut up you spud!", they yelled, before demanding, "Why don't you leave our club alone?" There was even a petition on WHTID to close this blog down!
Well on Sunday, the players were booed off the pitch; Zola looked like a man in despair; Clarke was suddenly keeping his distance, not at the shoulder of his little general; and the team looked clueless when playing against the 10 men of the team fourth from bottom in the table. Crisis? This crisis!
Now we need to get real and start demanding the truth from the Board, not swallowing Duxbury's sugar coated bullshit. What is happening with Ashton - we want to know. Why is Dyer out for 2 games after every twenty minutes of competitive action - we should be told. Why did we surrender our League Cup place for the second year in a row by fielding a weakened team - fans who pay to see the team play are entitled to better. Why is Zola buggering around with 4-3-3 when it obviously isn't working? Why did we buy Kovac and sell Collins - that decision was bloody ridiculous and must be explained. Why didn't we try harder to retain Neill - we are clearly missing his leadership on the pitch hugely. Why did we wait until the season was three games old to sign anybody approximating to a second striker? Why is Franco fit enough to play for Mexico but not fit enough to make it onto our sub's bench? Is it just that the guy is crap? Why are we playing right footers on the left flank and left footers on the right? The questions go on and on and on.
What we must not do is allow Duxbury to wallpaper over the cracks and keep smiling as they widen into a chasm. There are now so many parallels to the Great Escape season: a terrible start, players lacking confidence in the manager, new foreign signings who do not fit into the shape previously employed successfully, and a Board looking to cut and run. The big difference this year is that we do not have Tevez, Neill and Collins, three key players in the Great Escape. Perhaps the Three Monkeys brigade will now open their eyes, listen and find their voices because, if these issues are not addressed quickly, we are going down - just as I warned, to wails of derision, before the season kicked off!
That's hilarious a petition to close you down thats lightened my mood a bit
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should take Duxbury's, Zola's, Clarkes and Nani's job cos your so up your own arse with told you so's - I would love to see what a pigs ear you would make if it. Maybe we all want a few answers but I'd rather support them through the tough times - we're not even into double figures for games played yet ffs, yet you've already thrown in the towel you armchair muppet.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is, you will probably support the club WHILST it dies. Then when the death certificate is issued you will wake up to what has been happening and think, "Why didn't I see that coming?" Dear God, if you can't see how desperate our situation is yet, you must have a lovely labrador and a white cane! I take it that you were one of those saying top 10 finish, maybe top 6 before the season kicked off. We only play 19 home games in a season for pity's sake and we have accumulated one point from 3 so far. That is catastrophically bad. Fancy us at home to Arsenal? How about away to Stoke and Sunderland? Let's be optimistic and forecast 3 points from those three, we will still be deep in the shite. What happens, exactly, when Cole gets injured?
ReplyDeleteFirstly, do not believe everything you read in the papers, because on here you seem to agree with all of it, but I am certain when talking to your mates you are telling them what bullshit it is.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, we (fans) dislike you because you focus on the bad all the time. A reason why we have faith in the project is because last season it worked. Caste your mind back to last when we were on a terrible run, we came out of it and finished 9th (not 7th Mark Bright!) The season has just begun and we are at last scoring goals albeit sacrificing the defence.
Criticise Green all you like, but at least give a balanced argument, I dread to think how many points the man has saved us over the years, so come on dude, chin up!
13Th - C'mon Zola!
I love that you are lecturing people on how they support the club...
ReplyDeleteOh the irony. For a West Ham blog this is the most derisive piece of writing I have ever read. Day after day you heap scorn on the managers, the CEOs, the owners, the players and the supporters from your bitter little corner of the internet, is it any wonder that people come on here and accuse you of supporting Spurs or the like?
Everyone knew it was going to be a long hard season from the off, it's not like you were the only Mystic fucking Meg to see it. Everyone knew we were teetering on the edge, we have been for a while, so for you to pop up and say I told you so is laughable.
Most people can read the papers or the news on the internet - you do know it's no secret we are in trouble right? Of course you do because you regurgitate every sensationalist piece of bullshit attacking the club on here and put your own pathetic spin on it, adding stupid names and 'humourous' digs.
Again like Support WHTID! says it's a matter of supporting through the tough times, it's hardly like we haven't seen it before.
As for your questions:
League Cup - why are you getting bent out of shape, you spent long enough campaigning that we should bow out without kicking a ball - make your mind up!
The players - I notice now it's a stick to beat the club with it's no longer Lucas and Beano. Make your fucking mind up!
Is Neil a mercenary who is on too much money, too slow, penalties, blah blah or is he a good leader who we need?
Ashton is he the striker we need or is he fat, injured, over paid and a liability? Compensation claims only work if he is willing to retire. From what I hear, he still thinks he has a chance.
The formation. No it's not working, but then we haven't bought the players on Zola's list. Here I agreed, the little man needs to sharpen up and quick, but he's young and learning.
Sack him? We can't afford to.
Left and Right footers on the wrong flanks is tactical, surely in your armchair you can see the advantage it offers by cutting in on your big TV with Sky Plus? Should we do it all the time, no, but Zola is trying to get us to play a different style of football.
The premier league is unforgiving and doesn't allow players or managers much time and Zola's naivety is costing us.
Saying the club is lurching into a crisis makes me laugh though, we've been in crisis since Uncle Terry jumped ship.
Anyway I'm done apart from one last question to you.
I don't read 'The Org' so don't care for these monkey you keep banging on about, but you urge them to find their voice and demand answers and the club be accountable...
What are you doing?
I'm sure they can't hearing you booing the TV...
Shall I forward a link to SD and GZ so they marvel at what great 'supporters' we have now?
If Support WHTID is blind, as you say, then how would he know whether the cane he has is white or not?
ReplyDeleteJust a thought.
For the time being I’m happy to accept the official line that all is well between Zola, Nani and Duxbury.
ReplyDeleteA more pertinent question might be what is the relationship like between Andrew Bernhardt and our Three Musketeers?
