Zola To Quit?

Of course there is sometimes smoke without fire but the rumours are really gathering pace. If Zola hasn't expressed anger about the sale of Collins then the guy is a nodding dog of a yes man. If he hasn't expressed doubts about Nani after the signings of Savio, Jimenez, Kovac and Diamanti, then the cat must have got his tongue. If he isn't feeling hacked off about the substandard squad he is being asked to work with, then he must have the patience of a saint.

One thing is undeniable - the trademark smile has gone and Zola is looking stressed, cheesed off and, quite frankly, out of his depth. If the club do decide to cash in on Green or Upson (or both) in January then I can see Zola walking away with a clear conscience - that wasn't the deal he was sold when he agreed to manage us. That is assuming he hasn't been sacked by January of course!

  1. To tell the truth Zola has taken the club in the right direction. Compared to the Curbishely era - and before - at least we can now enjoy seeing our team trying to play the way we want them to play the game. Swift passing attacking football is what a West Ham supporter expects from his team(albeit without the finish). But unfortunately, we also need results. I think that the team will become much better if a) Zola realises that some members of the squad should move on (e.g. Spector, Cabbidon) b) the levels of fitness should rise sharply. The way we now play our football (quick passing game) is not effective unless the team fitness levels are at a very high level and for the whole of 90 minutes - and more. I do not think that we are anywhere close to that this year. In many games and most notably in our home game with Liverpool the players were falling down and making all sorts of mistakes because of tiredeness within an hour into the game!

  3. Apparently he is a big fan now. He likes the way this blog is on Duxbury's case!

Do you mean to say that there was a time when this blog wasn't on Duxbury's case? Blimey! I must have missed that.

  5. No, I mean that Zola is beginning to see through Duxbury and his "promises"!

  6. Sorry, my mistake. For one truly awful moment I thought you were suggesting that your blog had not always had it in for Duxbury.
Thank you for restoring the rightful order of things in the universe.
