A Chance To Concentrate On The League

The FA Cup draw has surely decreed that we are going to win sweet FA again this season. Unless Wenger plays his U16 reserves, we aint going to get beyond Arsenal are we?

Ah well, at least we can concentrate on the league and avoid the embarrassment of going out to the likes of Watford or Chesterfield!

  3. I think we'll be alright HF. I would say we'll do well but Zola may rest Carlton Cole for these games. Cole, if he plays, would give their defence nightmares.

May be we can test our youngsters against theirs? How's this for a team: Stech, Ferrari, Tomkins, N'Gala, Daprela, Payne, Stanislas, Collison, Hines, Nouble, Dixon. Would be very interesting.

  4. Stani' good shout for the team to put out, would love to see that happen. My only change would be Noble to captain the side at the expense of Spence

  5. Nice one Melbourne. Noble instead of Payne you mean? I did have him in my original side but then thought he's made over 100 first team appearances so I'd give one the inexperienced youngsters a go.

Still, he wouldn't be a bad shout for captain...it may jolt him back into form. If not, give the arm band to Collison.

I would love to see it happen too as long as we don't get taught a lesson!

  6. Your right I ment Payne. I thought Noble as I still class him as one of our kids despite his experience and honestly I dont think his form is as bad as everyone makes out. Having said that I do see him becoming the type of player that we all saw Parker really is these last two weeks. By that I mean attacking as well as being able to defend, afterall Noble was doing that for the Under 21s.

  7. We need Nouble to come up big especially if Carlton's injry fears are substantiated.

    Cole injury is substantiated...
    Out for 9 weeks.

It's alright though, we have Dyer.

  10. That is bad news, not much chance of getting rid of him in January now!

Heard it from a source close at the club. Usually pretty on the ball and seems understandably frustrated too.

In theory we have enough goals in us to be okay but the problem that was highlighted on Saturday was that we need to defend from the front.

Once Cole and Franco went off Hines, Jiminez and Stanislas were not interested in tracking back and tackling and there was no outlet for the defense when we hoofed it long, it would come straight back at us every time.

Unless Dixon and Nouble can offer anything in the way of Cole-esque ball retention we have a serious problem, but it's another risky strategy putting faith in two (more) untested kids.
