Hull (with 10 men) 3 West Ham 3 - Another 2 Points Tossed Away

I'm telling you, a team of 11 year olds have more tactical nounce than the bunch of clowns representing us at the moment - and more fire in their belly. The blinkered will say that we were unlucky today because of the Cole own goal and the dubious penalty, but they will then have failed to acknowledge that Franco should have seen red for a second bookable offence and Upson should have conceded a penalty in the second half for climbing all over Van Helsing. Even then, Jimenez did his best to set up Hull for a fourth with a blatant and unnecessary tug.

What is it with these idiots? To stop Hull, you mark Bullard and don't give away free kicks within 30 yards of your own goal. What did we do all afternoon, even when Hull were down to 10 men, we let Bullard roam around unmarked and took EVERY opportunity to concede free kicks around our box. The result was that Hull, the lowest scorers in the Prem before this game bagged three. I don't care what the idiots say about supporting the team, that was an appallingly naive and irresponsible performance from a team that are a shambles at the back. Upson isn't above criticism himself but he must be thinking, I need to get out of here fast if I want to get to South Africa.

What was Behrami doing today? He looked hopeless, chasing shadows all afternoon when we didn't have the ball and offering nothing creative when we did. Collison was good but was out on his legs at the end - there are fitness and stamina issues with this team, perhaps because they run so much instead of letting the ball do the work. Look at Bullard. He was head and shoulders better than any of our midfield because he retained the ball and delivered delicious passes when the opportunity to do so presented itself. I said before the game that he was Diamanti and Noble rolled into one. Sadly, we made him look like Hoddle, Beckham, Netzer and Tony Currie rolled into one! As good as he is, he aint that good! Who in our midfield puts his foot on the ball and picks a pass? Only Diamanti and we desperately need him for the game against Burnley.

We played like kids today. That's fair enough up to a point because Collison, Da Costa, Hines and Stanislas are kids, but big questions have to be asked as to why and how we have left ourselves so reliant on youngsters. No proper right back, no replacement left back and a raw young centre back - is it any wonder we are as leaky at the back as an incontinent old maid?

And look at our second half performance after Hull were reduced to 10 men. Apart from the goal (which loked like hand ball to me before Da Costa hit it home), we didn't create a proper chance until the last five minutes. Collison tired and so did Parker, and Hines looked out of his depth. I understand why Zola took Franco off, fearing a red card, but his withdrawal only served to demonstrate again that Jimenez is a light weight.

The optimists will try to take positives out of this game but the truth is, this performance showed that we are deep in trouble. We do not have a defence and should Cole or Franco pick up injuries, we won't have an attack either - unless Diamanti can step up to the plate.

We didn't lose, so relegation is not a certainty but it looks even more likely to me after today's game. No team should go in at half time a goal behind after going two goals ahead, even if playing against Arsenal or Barcelona. To do that against Hull City is criminally naive!

Player ratings: Green 6 (That first goal could only go in that top corner so why was Green a yard off his line as it curled in off Carlton's head?); Faubert 5, Da Costa 5, Upson 5, Gabbidon 3; Collison 6, Parker 7, Behrami 4, Stanislas 5; Cole 6, Franco 8
Subs: Hines 5, Jimenez 5

  5. dan you used the f word twice, telling Doglegz and myself to f off. Sorry, don't have your ratings as submission deleted. Happy to carry if you post them again but think you are wrong. How do you explain conceding 3 goals exactly?

  6. i love it, i knew exactly what you were going to say before i even read the article. maybe because you say it everytime the team fail to win.

i could even do a write up of next weeks game against burnley right now, but only if we go on to not win the game ofcourse. blah blah championship here we come, blah blah i love james collins, blah blah zola knows nothing, blah blah green isn't very good, blah blah why haven't we signed fullbacks, now we have to rely on kids and ofcourse a new negative vibe just in for next week... blah blah behrami isn't back to his best yet, he must be going in january (not that he snapped his knee and isn't fully fit yet, can't moan about that can i)

maybe even throw in a little bit about dean ashton or kieron dyer never being fit because we never noticed until you mentioned it.

really though we got a point and are out of the relagation zone, cheer up, get laid or something, you could probably list off a dozen things that she did wrong if that makes it more fun

  7. We are only out of the bottom 3 because Portsmouth and Bolton play tomorrow!

Actually, I didn't say a number of things that you listed. I didn't put Behrami's performance down to him wanting away, that was obviously your idea. Don't think I mentioned Zola either. That was you. Also don't think I've talked about the total naivity of the team before.

I have been warning about the Championship since before the season kicked off, and I did identify all the weaknesses that are now costing us points. And yes, others might have been saying the same thing but not on here! I was being called a mug - top 8 minimum was the concensus. Unfortunately, I am being proved right.

Have you got £2,000 to put in for the purchase of the club?

  8. Whenever a West Ham game ends, its your opinion I want to read first. You say what every true fan thinks, so thanks mate. I love our club and supported the hammers since I was a wee boy in N.Ireland. Everyone else was either Man.Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal follower. It was the way west ham used to play with that never say die attitude and of course great football, god I miss those cottee and maavennie days!. Hey we lost alot but we would win some crackers to! These days no pride no skill no nothing! Just heartache on the pitch and bad to worse news of it. That been said I still love the hammers and here in the USA follow them every game win or lose. Wear my claret&blue with pride and explain to people what that big hammers crest is on my rear car window!!.

  12. 2122, these sorts of comments say more about you than they do about me. As does hiding behind anonymity when you make them!

  13. You been banned from the Org again?

    ReplyDelete
  14. LOL Of course. Davefking and WHTID wouldn't return until Nev showed Loza the door.

  15. But look closely and you might spot Fanno's first contribution on the Org since Loza was dumped by Nev! Dear God, I've given enough clues!

  16. guess everyone just comes on here to take out their aggressions on HF.

    Very bizarre.

  17. It is odd isn't it hammalot? They could all have a go on the Org but they ban Fanno from there, or at least they ban Fanno when he breaks cover and who they mistakenly think is Fanno, but then they just force Fanno to hide his identity, so they end up exchanging decently with this object of their hatred. Self defeating or what? Weird.

  18. haha you've started talking about yourself in the third person! this blog would be a much funnier car crash to me if you weren't affiliated with my team.

  19. Ha ha, Fanno is an internet personna. That's what you don't get. He has some of my personality but not all of it. We are not always what we appear on the internet. Be aware if you try internet dating!

Why have we left ourselves so dependent on youngsters?

Come on HF who exactly are you talking about here?
You have made several contributions about Straumur and asset stripping... we are paper thin and desperately short on quality and experience.

Green and Upson seem to be too wrapped up with England to turn in decent performances, Behrami was off the pace yesterday, Cole coming back from injury which leaves us weak from front to back.

The worrying aspect of Saturday was Zola. The 'sit back and defend' tactic on 2-0 was always going to bring trouble, if Behrami had marked Bullard properly we would have been fine, but Zola seems a man out of his depth, like the only managerial experience he really has is putting out the Cones for the Italian U21 side.
    Oh wait...
I'm concerned he is too naive and doesn't have the balls for a relegation scrap.

  21. I've said as much with my Roeder comparison Fonzie.
