Adriano, Balotelli and Benjani - All On Zola's Radar
You have to love the guy don't you? Presumably Zola has a copy of Championship Manager loaded on his PC and thinks the game is for real. Last week it was Luca Toni on the basis that they are mates and this week Adriano (who, you may remember, was all set to join us under Turds) is in the frame to join us in January, along with Balotelli (who was joining us in the summer) and Benjani (who was joining us in September).
Zola has woken up to the fact that we are in a relegation battle at last; who knows, he might realise that he isn't managing Chelsea sometime before Christmas!
Perhaps, just perhaps, we might actually sign somebody if Zola aimed his sights a little lower. Has Viduka found a club yet? Is Tristan available? How about Steve Claridge? When does Marlon King get out of jail? And what about Stan Collymore?
Well you hit on something. Zola's sites are WAY TOO HIGH and is the reason we never actually landed a striker in the summer. Even if we could afford these players they wouldn't in a million years come to us! Honestly this guy has to get real, the only thing we can hope for is ANOTHER freebie or maybe a championship striker.
ReplyDeleteIm sick of you being a pessimist and offending the real fans of west ham such as myself who has a season ticket and acutually ATTEND the games to SUPPORT the club.
ReplyDeleteit also stuns me that you believe pure media speculation and bullshit in order to critisize zola so that you can feel good about yourself when in fact you are showing waht you truly are a MUG and a shameful west ham 'fan'
So 2038, you accept that we are not in the running for any of these top class players? How do you fancy Claridge? Can't be any slower than Tristan!
ReplyDeleteAgree TBI, we cannot go for names. The Chamakhs and Gudjohnsens will never come to us.
ReplyDeleteWe should have been going for people like Matt Derbyshire. Why don't we give Jermaine Beckford a go. He knows where the goal is.
I agree with 20:38. You're buying too much into media speculation.
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness lets go for James Beattie. Take advantage of someone else's misfortune instead of it always happening to us! :(
ReplyDeleteI have to agree that this article has been fueled by press speculation and nothing more.
ReplyDeleteYou criticise Zola for our player acquisitions or ambitions but the bottom line is that he is having his hands tied by the people in control of the finance.
If he was to say I want a Adriano type player to Nani and he goes to Duckers and gets the change from the back of the sofa which will just about cover Tristan, how is that Zola's fault?
Surely it is master scout Nani's? Or Duckers? Or Andrew Bernhardt's?
There are plenty of things Zola is culpable for - inconsistent selection, bad substitutions, tactical ineptitude but to start crucifying the guy over Red Top speculation is a bit cheap even for you HF.
Yeah Fonzie, I accept that. It's just that Zola keeps saying that, as far as he knows, he thinks we are in tip top shape financially - which either makes him an idiot, a liar or a dreamer.
ReplyDelete'People say he's a dreamer, but he's not the only one....'?
ReplyDeletelol
It's sad, I can almost feel myself rooting for the little guy, but painting on a big smile and saying 'We're trying hard' and 'I can't fault the players' has been pissing me off for sometime now, almost as much as hearing Curbs whine about 'innuries' every week.
If they want to play good cop bad cop why isn't 'defensive maestro' Clarke kicking ass?
Pie in the sky transfers and FM fantasies maybe a way out of it but how's about getting off the bench and shouting encouragement, bollocking, or even showing tactical awareness with what you've got...?
Agree mate. He looked so resigned and down during the second half against the Mancs. And I still can't understand why Clarke isn't "more in the face" of the players during the game.
