After today's defeat, there's no way back for Portsmouth. Even 7 wins from 12 games would only get them to 37 points. They are down, but please God not out!
Now every point Pompey take off a relegation rival is a point that helps us. We need them to survive the winding up order and we need them to get a few results too, starting, ideally, with a win at Burnley next weekend. How does it go? Play up Pompey!
The last thing that would make a difference for Pompey is the support of the West Ham supporters. I don't think that anything can save them. Especially now that any investor will almost certainly have to assume that he is buying a relegated club. There is of course the parachute money but this not merely enough to pay off the existing debts. But, what the hell, come on Pompey!

ReplyDeleteNo chance! Inland Revenue believes Pompey is trading whilst insolvent. They want the Club wound up not put into administration, and the judge has already indicated that she must ignore the pleas of the Pompey fans and do the right thing, which is to wind the club up. Unless an insane benefactor is found within the next 8 days, we should prepare to lose 4 points, more than any club below us. At least Wigan, Hull, Bolton and Wolves will lose a game as they haven't yet played Pompey twice.
ReplyDeleteI hope to God you are wrong! But I fear you may be right!
