New Partner For Cole Against Bolton
What are the chances of Zola trying out Ilan from the start on Saturday? Franco has looked ring rusty in his two appearances since the injury and has not managed a shot on goal in over 100 minutes of football. He will claim an assist against Hull but, in truth, he miscontrolled the ball and was chasing after it when Behrami slammed it into the net. Had he been quicker, he would have got in the way and blocked the shot!
Bolton will present a much sterner test than Hull and are no longer leaking goals. I would like to see Ilan start because the guy likes to get into the box and definitely has an eye for a goal. Mido and Cole are too similar and not a good fit as a result; Franco is a creator, not a finisher; McCarthy is injured; it's time for Ilan to show why we signed him!
I would like to see Ilan get a start too. He scored at Burnley, almost with his first touch and looked a real threat after that.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty pleased with Mido too and if he gets fit and stays fit he'll be the bargain of the century.
We know well how Bolton will play and we always seem to struggle against their physical, some say negative approach. We'll need to fight for our lives if we're to win this one. Behrami will be crucial, and I hope that his reported contract problems won't play a factor.
If we can win this one and the home tie against Wolves, we will feel more mid table, which'll be a massive relief. If we do, I've got a claret and blue T-Shirt with the chant "We are mid-table, we are mid-table!!" which will get a well earned airing.
i agree
ReplyDeleteDefinetely not Franco! That should be more than obvious now. But you never know with Zola. These are the things he just can't get right.
ReplyDeleteI am all for Ilan. I believe he is our best signing. He has movement and skill in his game and can smell a goal. Using him as a forward will also be his best position as he gets in the right positions in the box to score or create havoc for the defenders.
Chuck 3 strikers on cole Alan & either Mido or franco, we have got to take it to teams like bolton, and not try to hold them as they are coming for a draw, and try to nick it late on, they do it to us every time, if we go 2 or 3 up they have to go for it, then we can pick em off, cmon west ham have the balls to kill teams off, you bought all these strikers, lets start using them, all of em.
ReplyDeleteYep, good call. If he's given bits and bobs he won't be able to show us what he's about. We have Arsenal Chelsea after this and there's hardly any point in judging him in those games.
ReplyDeleteIt is impressive what Coyle has done to the Bolton defence.
I wouldn't say they're not leaking goals and I still think they will be easier to beat than when Megson was in charge, they will still go for the draw in my opinion. Apparently Ilan is good at long shots, wold like to se him start aswell, see if it's true.
