Well it aint cricket as far as I'm concerned, but it's still pleasing to see an England team win something for a change, even if half the side were born in South Africa! Congratulations to Collingwood and the boys, it's great to put one over on the Aussies again.
Now, let's hope Capello's Lions can follow the lead. We lost at Fulham and the last time that happened was in 1966 of course. An omen perhaps?
Cricket is the 2nd best sport in the world HF.
ReplyDelete...and while we're mentioning achievements; Amir Khan, British World Champion (retained).
all those immigrants winning things for England it's enough to send the Sun apoplectic
ReplyDeleteAlways a negative with any praise HF hey???? Cant just say well done to the boys can you.
ReplyDeleteHe is only British when it suits him Stani unlike the South African born players who all have an English bloodline.
ReplyDeleteDisagree 1202,
ReplyDeleteHe has to work harder to be accepted as British because he is Asian. You have the cause and effect mixed up.
SAM ALLARDYCE, DAVE JONES, IAN HOLLOWAY!!!
ReplyDeleteRather have kept Zola thank you very much. I said time after time that we should be careful what we wish for, and that our club will begin to resemble an image of it's owners; class-less.
Sky Sports reckon the Brothers Grim have drawn up a shortlist of four - Fat Sam, Grant, Dave Jones and Ian Holloway. Oh, please God, not Fat Sam ...
ReplyDeleteJust read the article on the whufc.com about our bid for the Olympic stadium.
ReplyDeleteIt says that the running track WOULD be retained although doesn't say whether it would be covered with retractable seating.
I certainly hope that it would be as personally I hate the thought of having the fans so far away from the pitch. Surely it would kill what is IMO an already declining match atmosphere.
The club have made some awful decisions over the past few years but that would be one of the worst!!
Stani, to use a little East End vernacular - "are you on crack?!" - wanting to keep Zola!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'm going to be in the minority here, but my favourite of the four is Sam Allardyce.
Proven Premiership experience.
An eye for players.
Motivational abilities... how many mercenaries has he procured over the years and got them playing well for the team as opposed to playing for a pay-check?
His style of play may not be that eye-catching, but look at the players and budgets that he has had to work with.
Better money if spent wisely gets you better players who play better football - and Big Sam is nobody's fool.
I wouldn't have wanted Big Sam before Zola's time, but now, I'll welcome him with open arms... kinda!
Can I just point out that he is my preferred choice out of the four, nowhere near my preferred choice (which would be Jol or Pardew).
Thing is under fat sam NONE of his players are allowed to slack off during a match and they always battle their bollocks off to make up for a lack of ability in some cases. He is not the players friend ike Zola he is their manager. He has got results this season against all of the big 4 and has a tremendous home record this season. Id have him if it got results. Fuck this pretty football that we dont even play give me a few decent results ike ft sam would almost guarantee. Saying that it wil be Grant anyway. Shalom
ReplyDeleteApache,
ReplyDeleteBig Pam? Are you radio-rental? Back atcha!
People said the same thing about Curbishley and we're still recovering from his contributions.
If that's the short-list then no one else will come in unless all 4 say no.
cricket is crap. the most boring game ever. hurry up world cup. PLEASE.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe that the majority of fans would be happy with Allardyce. There'd be uproar and season tickets being burnt in the street!
ReplyDeleteThis is probably another PR stunt by the D's to soften the blow of whoever we eventually get because against Big Sam most other options will seem very appealling!
Sure he'd bring discipline which we desperately need but his teams play the worst type of football in the league. Absolutely awful.
1443, cricket is a thinking man's sport, a form of athletic chess. Twenty:20 is dumbed down cricket for the stupid masses, rounders for people who get dizzy running around in a circle.
ReplyDeleteid be well happy if we could get the fly guy fat sam in charge it would be sick and kickng. All my bros are bang on for it and hope it happens. Respect and word up sam. Also respect to R truth you are the happnin flava flav
ReplyDeleteNuff respect wicked on the decks.
