Daylight Robbery In Liverpool!

I know that headline is a bit like "The Pope Is A Catholic", but the breathtaking cheek of the Yanks in raising season ticket prices for Liverpool fans next season cannot go by without a comment. No Champions League football and the once mighty Reds finishing below Tottenham, Aston Villa and Unreal City, and yet they still up the season ticket prices by an above inflation 7%!

How did they come up with that figure then? Elementary my dear Hicks! Liverpool finished in 7th place in the Prem didn't they? It's a damn good job for the Scousers that they didn't finish where we ended up, or that price hike could have been 17%!

And why the price rise in the first place? (First place? That's a place reserved for Man Utd and Chelsea these days isn't it?) Well I suppose that they have to raise the funds to pay off Rafa's compensation settlement somehow. And meanwhile, Rafa walks into the job at Inter Milan and prepares a bid for Gerrard. Torres to Chelsea whilst they are about it anybody?

It shouldn't happen to such a wonderful club should it? But King Kenny will save them won't he? Yeah, just like King Kevin and Prince Al saved Newcastle! When the wheel of fortune starts to roll down hill, it is desperately difficult to stop!

And how exactly will the Liverpool fans finance this disgraceful Failure Tax? Stand by for headlines in the Liverpool Echo next May, "Burglaries Up 7%"!

  1. that's actually quite funny.

Sadly I think the time has come for football fans to stand together against owners who risk the welfare of the clubs we love. Be it Portsmouth, West Ham, Liverpool or Man U.

  3. It's outrageous.

Football fans are just being milked like a cash cow by greedy bloody foreigners.

Enough is enough. Let's put the tribal rivalry aside until we get rid of the people that are set on ruining the English game.

  4. The trouble is Mishun mate, when this blog warned about what was going to happen at Liverpool, you and a small army of Reds came on here abusing myself, Celtichammer and West Ham. Perhaps if you guys had listened and had directed your ire on H&G and Rafa sooner, things might not be quite so bad now. It seems the stuffing has been knocked out of you lot in the meantime. There is a worrying sense of resignation your side of Stanley Park.

  5. Mishun,
I don't think it's just foreign owners mate. I mean that guy with a sexual urge to attain knowledge (Randy Lerner) has done well for Villa. And as for our owners...well we'll see where they take our club.

  9. Hey there, found your blog through West Ham Buzztap on Twitter, and I find it quite a good read :)

Random question: Of the people we've been linked with so far, who do you hope we sign?

I wouldn't mind Belhadj. Probably the guy I'm hoping for the most since.. well, we have to left winger. We've at least got Stanislas on the right, even though he's not exactly ready yet.

  14. It's about time that fans of all clubs in all division took action (legally) against the powers that are ruining our game. That includes the chairman, directors, the premier league, F.A., along with the puppet masters Sky, the Managers, Players and their agents. Not all, I've included, are bad, I know, but not all Germans were Nazi's during the war, yet they did nothing to stop the atrocities. Look at our role as supporters, because we are throwing fuel on the fire with every season ticket, membership, replica shirt, programmes and hot-dog we buy from our clubs. I think were all getting to the stage where we've got to say enough is enough. If we don't, many of us will be spending Saturday afternoons, going around to other clubs games bleating that administration and then extinction should never have happened to us with all that money. Stop and think how close Pompey came to it. Then think, just for a short while, if it happened to your club. Even discuss it with your mates, joke about the alternatives…….the take it seriously, because it is coming to a club near you sooner than you care to think.

Mishun, your reference to Villa. They are spending far too much on mediocre footballers, without that much return. This will surely have some affect down the line. And when that happens it’s going to be atleast one of those listed above to blame, but the chairman who makes the decision.

  16. No, certain Liverpool fans (me included) came on here and had a go about your crowing and abuse. Even if you did have a valid point to make you didn't make it magnanimously, you made it abusively and you get what you give.

There's never been any doubt that the two leeches were the problem, I maintain that the manager wasn't.

The point about Randy Lerner's a good one but he's unique in that he's an actual football fan, I personally feel that gives him something other owners don't have or ever will do.
