Put a tenner on Tottenham's Dawson to score the winner in the World Cup Final!

It's written in the stars. Terry picks up an injury in the semi final. Capello decides to go with the Tottenham pairing of Dawson and King in the final. Last minute, score 1-1. Lampard swings over the corner, Dawson climbs high, connects with a thumping header - GOAL!

I'm checking out the odds!

  1. No, don't waste your money, just give it to me :)

Do not expect more than quarter finals. This is a massive blow and Don Fabio knows it. Without Rio, the rest of the defence are donkeys. Mistakes galore.

    Shizer!

(People were never gonna believe the "Lampard swings over the corner" bit HF)

  2. You're wrong Stani, just like you were with Zola! We are going to win the World Cup!

  3. Stani is right and deep down you know it too HF.

  4. You think the world cup fever's got to him Sav? HF's been most unlike himself recently, all excited and optimistic.

Rio is the number one center back in the world. He was England's best player in the last two major tournaments, and this in a sport where defenders rarely receive such accolades. There is no doubt he will be missed.

As for our chances; until the English kid is schooled in the game with the ball at his feet, I cannot see us winning anything. Even Mexico and Japan showed passages of play that were technically superior to England's who have, by far, the 'better' individuals. It's so frustrating why the likes of Gerrard and Lampard cannot string together a flowing move of 4-5 passes whislt going forward. Ask Rooney and he'll tell you exactly what I'm talking about. That's why the guy gets so frustrated on the pitch.

And how exactly was I wrong about Zola? You see HF, the unfortunate thing is we will never get to see if you was proved right or I was proved right. This is because Zola will not get the opportunity that will now be presented to Grant. Should Grant go through the season with the same players, then we would have known about Zola. Unfortunately, this will not happen because it is not only Stani who knows how bad our squad REALLY is, but G&S and HF know too. It is why I was being a cheeky monkey on one of your previous posts in suggesting that we shouldn't buy anyone. It is only then we could truly judge Zola's achievements.

  5. We won't be in the final. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. But we knew that about you anyway.

  6. Rio makes a fair few mistakes himself though.

  7. Stani, what was the score against Mexico? England 3 Mexico 1 wasn't it? And the score yesterday? Mexico 2 Italy 1 wasn't it? God we are shit aren't we?

  8. LOL Not forgetting France 0 China 1. Makes a 2-1 victory over Japan look impressive!

  9. Insignificant HF. Come on now, you watched both games. You're just arguing with me for the sake of it.

Light footballs are not the best for our lead-footed Englishmen.

  10. Insignificant? Portugal, France, Spain and Italy are all struggling for form, and that is insignificant? Heat not a factor. This is OUR World Cup!

  11. You're just setting yourself up. Think quarter-finals and take care of the ticker....old man.

  12. Nothing like a dose of optimism every 4 years Stani. We West Ham fans are owed some sort of reservoir of hope surely?

    ReplyDelete
  13. ...it's the hope that kills you HF. You're merely filling the reservoir in which you'll drown and neither The Hoff or his Baywatch babes will be coming to the rescue.

You're not gonna serenade me with the song now are you are? "Some people stand in darkness
Afraid to step into the light.
Some people need to help somebody
When the edge of surrender is in sight.

Don't you worry, it's going to be all right.

    'Cause I'm always there,
I won't let you out of my sight.
    I'll be ready--never you fear
    I'll be ready--forever and always,
    I'm always here."

    Cringe!!!

I cannot believe I'm having to say this stuff to you. Did you win the lottery or something recently?

"I'll be ready..." (now look what you've done!)

  14. No but remember my £20 double on Newcastle to get relegated (the season before last!) and England to win the World Cup. I'm looking forward to collecting over a grand!

    ReplyDelete
  15. So there's the real reason.

If I'm honest with you, if you're getting only just over a grand for your £20, they were pretty rubbish odds on something that was so improbable. Hats off if you get it right though.

I'll keep the Hoff on standby just in case.
