West Ham's Glorious World Cup Continues

First there was McCarthy, dropped on the eve of the tournament for allegedly bringing tarts back to his room for a Big Mac. Then there was Upson, relegated beneath King and Carragher in the England pecking order.

Then Spector, cruelly dropped from the USA first 11 despite his heroics for West Ham last season. Then, of course, Green proved why he should never have been considered England's number one number one, with one of the worst goalkeeping errors I have ever seen.

And now Behrami has been sent off for smacking two opponents in the face, leading to Switzerland losing to Chile.

We can claim Franco, I suppose, although he was released before the tournament started and, typically, his replacement came on and scored against France. Have I forgotten anybody?

Now the killer blow will see Upson giving away the penalty that sends England crashing out of the tournament. Put your money on the banker of the year!

  2. Spot on there Sav, although in the circumstances, that's not the best choice of words!

  3. Behrami was unlucky! There was no elbow in the teeth, that's obvious. The fact is, if a South American sees a flailing arm within his postcode, he's gonna eat the grass and scream G.B.H.
The referee was a complete goon. There was a similar incident late on when the Swiss defender went down after a Chilean 'slap' in the mush and he only dished out a yellow! Viva Valon!

  4. Oh Shaun, do me a favour. He hit out twice, and connected twice. If that was Anelka whacking out at two West Ham players in a Chelsea v West Ham derby, you would be baying for a red card. Where is the objectivity? Lineker and co agreed with the decision! And no, that is not an anti West Ham bias!

  6. The objectivity HF? I just say it as I see it. Behrami was in possession at the time. At no time did he 'take a quick look over his shoulder' to measure up his 'targets' as the pundits claimed. His arms were extended yes...for balance. He was challenged but kept possession until he was eventually bowled over. The assistant saw it from behind through a crowd of players yet he still saw fit to flag. There was no elbow thrown and no facial injury. Vidal Arturo feigned injury and got Valon sent off...simple! I was liking Chile up to that point too...now they're not so hot in my opinion.

  7. Why TIS, I would be baying for a red card too. I am saying that Behrami deserved red.

Shaun, his arms were thrown back twice, and the second time was absolutely not for reasons of balance!

...and Mr Arturo is a renowned thespian in his home country, not to mention he too was a champion in the pool.....yeah, for diving!!!
