Evidence Points to New Investment in West Ham
Something odd is going on. Remember when we signed Tevez and Mascherano and everybody scratched their heads and asked "What the fcuk?" Well the signing of Barerra and Remy (if it happens) isn't quite in the same league but, given the backdrop of supposed "Financial Armageddon", there is a distinct whiff of sulphur in the air. How have we moved, in six long months, from knocking on the door of Administration to being able to shell out £16m on two unproven players in the space of a week?
Are we acting as a front for another club as the Pumas chairman appeared to suggest last week? Or are we spending the money we know will be raised by the sale of Cole, Parker and Behrami? Or is there new money being invested in the club?
It is too early to say, but the signs are certainly promising. We seem to be genuinely in the market for players with fairly hefty price tags and, as yet, nobody has been sold. True, Gold has now suggested that Parker may be sold at the right price but that may be because Grant doesn't rate him that highly. If Villa, flush with Man City's cash from the inflated sale of Milner, offer us £15m, then we would be mad not to take it. Parker is now 30, suffers from yellow card fever, scores all too infrequently and is due an extended spell out with injury. There's better value out there.
If we land Remy tomorrow then I will be inclined to give more credence to those rumours about a billionaire investor. Even if this investor doesn't exist, you have to credit Sullivan and Gold for buying before they sell. Maybe they are genuine fans after all!
things are certainly looking up 4 my beloved hammers. come on you irons. from wayne the happy hammer.
ReplyDeleteyeah just wait for all the 'I always loved SuGo' people to creep out the woodwork.
ReplyDeleteCareful Fanno, many more optimistic posts and you'll lose all haters, and then where will you be!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I always get excited about West Ham in summer, but right now, until anything is official, I'm still a sceptic...
How does it go "like my dreams hey fade and die"
ReplyDeleteLOL Cheer up you pessimists. It's the summer! We haven't lost a game yet!
ReplyDeleteseriously thought mate - without us haters = you'd lose 90% of all posters...
ReplyDeleteOh and one more thing Barrera is a pacy winger, who can play on either flank, so won't be able to use him for that left winger playing on the right wing fiasco that went on and on last season.
I had a bacon sarnie for breakfast today and fed it to my fat bird Louise Westpfel
ReplyDeleteIt seems there is new money available. Where does that come from? I don't really know but I my best guess is from a new investor who has set the bar higher in order to back the Davids. In other words, the existing business plan that aimed at reducing the debt goes out the window and is replaced by an ambitious plan of making West Ham one of the elite London Clubs. We have the support and one of the best locations in the country, if we assemble the right players and aim high we will be there soon enough. I hope that the new investor (if indeed there is one) has changed the perspective for the better. He probably did this in order to make it interesting and fascinating enough for him to invest in the potential of the Club. I always said our potential to become a great club is unique. Perhaps our Abramovich has just arrived!
ReplyDeleteIm a new investor as i bought 2 season tickets this year. HF are you getting a season ticket?????
ReplyDeletehow many season tickets have west ham sold so far. anybody know.
ReplyDeletehf will wait until the club are in dire straights again and they start offering mini tickets....... that's why he always hopes the club does badly so he can be offered a cheap mini ticket like last season.
