The Strange coincidence of the unsigned 5 year contract extension and Tottenham's bid for Parker...

Hmmm. Parker is 29 and has 3 years to run on his present contract. That will take him to aged 32 and the point where his all energy style will certainly start to tell. Can you see a 34 year old covering the ground that Parker covers? Can you do that spin whilst holding a zimmer frame?

So why offer the contract extension? Or more pertinently, why tell the Daily Mail that the contract has been offered? Or more pertinently still, why tell the Daily Mail that the contract has been offered the day before you announce that Tottenham have bid for the player? Or more pertinently still, why the coincidence of first telling the Daily Mail about the contract and then the Daily Mail being the first news "organisation" to break the story of the Tottenham offer, just moments after the announcement on the West Ham web site? Anybody detect the faintest whiff of a rat here? Any chance that this has been orchestrated by any chance? Of course not! As if!

But let's go back to that contract. It is worth £20m to Parker apparently. £20m? In wages alone? So, if we reject a £12m offer, that means to retain Parker for 5 years, two of which he will be a spent force anyway, will cost us a cool £32m! Does anybody honestly think that Parker is worth £32m? I remember when we were sweating over a debt of £40m. I remember a debt of £110m nearly bringing us to our knees - and we are willing to retain a 29 year old midfielder with a dodgy injury record and a dreadful scoring record, at a cost of £32m.

I tell you what, if Sullivan is not playing games, if Sullivan really is going to retain Parker at this cost to the club, then he must be suffering from senile dementia! Or maybe it is syphilis! £32m for Parker? You could probably buy Tevez for that and sort out a sponsorship deal to cover the bulk of his wages. Something really doesn't tally here if you think about it for even five minutes!

Now, put yourself in Parker's boots, only swap the clubs around. You are a lifelong West Ham fan but are playing for Tottenham. Tottenham are coming off the back of a terrible season whilst West Ham are in the Champions League. Suddenly West Ham make a bid for you. Tell me, what would you want to do?

Some will say, that's why Sullivan offered the new contract! To bribe Parker into staying. But Liverpool, Tottenham and Villa will not match his current deal anyway. Parker is already a very wealthy man but his career to date is one of unfulfilled promise. He now has the opportunity to prove himself at a big club. So what it costs him a few thousand a week, on his salary, why does that matter?

Parker will go. Watch this space!

  1. Fcuk this old rubbish - you've already had to two posts dedicated to Parker in the last week - why do you need another one?

    The real story is

Diego Maradona's stormy spell as Argentina coach came to an end after the Argentine Football Association voted unanimously not to renew his contract.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Obviously I hate him slightly more than I hate you!

  5. Why would sullivan make the Spurs bid known to the press if he didnt want to unsettle the player, surely hes just done that, lol
The man is a media arse licker who like to feel more important than he is, hes had you poor spammers liked with everyone over the summer to get you to buy more season tickets.
You just can't buy class, lol £110m in debt and he wants to offer a 29 year old £75k over 5 years, lmfao!

  6. This is a very good article. No delusions, no wishful thinking, just pure sound logic, and exactly the reason why Spurs don't need him at the club and West Ham even less. Sullivan imo is trying to build up a price for the (not so) young lad. He's an important building base for the club, but as you say only for a couple of years max. There are cheaper and better players in the market, and will be once the Citehs and Chelski's need to cull. Parker has wasted his career chasing the money instead of the glory. Funny thing is, had he gone for the glory he'd probably be on more money than he is now what with sponsorships etc.

Oh well. Theres another case of wasted talent. He'll more than likely do well for you lot over the next couple of years and may even help bring a bit of pride to the Boleyn, but it will come at a financial cost.

  7. what plum - do you really think they have problems selling season tickets - spammer fans are very long in the tooth - and don't believe 95% of the rumours - go away you small minded caravan dwelling Kent person

  8. HF... ive read a few of your posts now, you really need to get out more mate.

I will play more attention not to click on your blogs anymore from newsnow as its pure rubbish.

  9. Goes back to what I said earlier in the comments of your earlier blogs.

I think this is a media game to make a statement that West Ham are not a selling club, so the strategy is we can keep our existing players and attract new ones.

Like you say its all a media game.

Releasing details of the contract, next of the bid, we hang on to parker. Job done, proof we aren't a selling club anymore.

I think this is the game S&G are playing.

  10. The truth will out! This time last year I called that Ashton would never kick a ball again to howls of derision. I also said Neill would not return. If I'm wrong, I will run a post to that effect. If I'm right, how many of my detractors will be man enough to apologise? Probably as many as apologised over Duxbury, Nani, Ashton, Bellamy and Zola!

  11. You are only right on occasions liek those, cos you're bloody negative!!! did you say west ham were stayign up last season? did you say we were goign to stay up with Tevez and co? anything positive you are wrong all the negative you may be right because you are soo bloody negative towards west ham!! Go supoport a team like the yids and take them down!! COYI

  13. I'll apologise if I am wrong HF. I hope you will too. Will you? I know you finally admitted you were wrong with your England in the World Cup fantasy. For West Ham's sake this time, I hope you will admit you were wrong when the Premier league starts and Parker is playing next to Hitz against Aston Villa.

  14. Parker is to hand in a transfer request, apparently he wants Champions League football.

Cole has also been discussing move to Stoke as this is holding up the Remy deal.

  15. You have a strange logic HF.

Why do want to battle everyone about everything? Why are you so confrontational and antagonistic at every given opportinity? Is your ego so fragile that you need to score 'points' against strangers on a blog to feel good about yourself?

Quite clearly if SP wants to leave then he will and DS will be pretty much powerless to stop him. Other than keep an unhappy and demotivated player of course.

Not exactly rocket science or fortune telling is it?

There's a not so subtle PR sheen to DS's statement but you get that from any large organisation in the media limelight. So what?

We'll never know the truth and will never be able to change their decisions so what's the point in debating it???

    ReplyDelete
  16. Of course we will know the truth, like we know the truth about Duxbury and his lies! If parker stays, I'm wrong. If Parker goes, I'm right. Simples.

Yes I did predict we would stay up last season. I also predicted a season of struggle when you lot were confidently predicting a top 10 finish! No, I did not expect us to stay up during the Great Escape. That's why it is the Great Escape! If the Germans had expected the tunnel building, the film would never have been made would it? The Totally expected Escape doesn't have the same ring about it, does it?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I never once doubted us goign down during "the Great Escape" Why? Because I have faith in my bloody team. I blead claret and blue. I would never try to say shit about my club, I would always remain upbeat, of course we get frustrated when we go to the Boleyn and it's a poor performace, and boo, but going online doign a pathetic blog to drag west ham through the dirt, don't do that to my team sunshine. at least be a bit more upbeat. Next blog, lets have it you getting behind us mate, now that woudl be nice gettign behind the mighty Irons. Sometimes you do talk sense even if it is a bit downcast but c'mon bit more positive though.

    ReplyDelete
  18. You go to the Boleyn and boo? Some fan! THAT I would never do. Not even during or after the Wolves game.

  19. And, in passing, it's a bloody good job that linesman thought that the "goal" against Blackburn had crossed the line (an offside Tevez blocked it on the line after a Bowyer handball!) or we would have gone down and you would have been terribly shocked!

  21. No HF you don't boo, you just spout non stop negative drivel about the club and those who represent it on the internet.

    That's far more constructive.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I never said I would be shocked you tit!! Well don't you get frustrated, sorry but I think most the fans boo tbh son. after perfromaces last season anyway. But i will always be positive, just get frustrated. You?? you just talk utter shit all day long. never a good word to say always pessimistic.

  23. SP has a similar style and work ethic to Billy Bonds. He played in to his forties and had some of his best years for WH in his early to mid thirties.

The physical side of the game has moved on a bit since those days but an ageing, top drawer, holding midfielder can still sit behind a game and dictate play.

A veteran SP could also prove vital in helping the development younger players as well.

So a five year contract for him might not be all doom and gloom.

  24. Are you Zola
    Are you Zola
    Are you Zola in disguise?

    ReplyDelete
  25. As you say 1726, the physical side of the game has moved on. And as he got older, Bonds moved back. He started as a full back, went into midfield, and then switched back to centre back when he legs were ageing. Fancy Parker at centre back?

  26. 1639, if you never doubted that we would survive, you would surely have been shocked if we went down? You can't be certain of staying up and then claim that being relegated wouldn't come as a shock surely? That doesn't make sense my friend. By the way, is that a nipple on top of your head?
