Gold Hints At Sale Of Parker
Interesting to read Gold's latest comments regarding Liverpool's interest in Carlton Cole. It is certainly not the categorical, they can take a running jump, only over my dead body stance adopted by Sullivan following Tottenham's INITIAL approach for Parker.
Instead of, "Parker is not for sale", the language has been softened to "We will do everything we can to hang on to our best players." Ah, "our best" may not be good enough of course. But the Davids will "try". But try as we might, we all fail at something don't we? So Davie G warns "Clubs are coming in for them because they are good players". And in case the Davids get unfair criticism from the fans should a big name go, Goldilocks reminds us, "But we’re trying to break the mold of 50 years of selling". But try as they might, and all that...so the porridge eater adds, "Will we achieve that 100 per cent? It’s going to be difficult."
Difficult to achieve that 100%, yes David, we can see that. After all, as "That first offer was too soft and our demands were too hard, but that deal is just right!" reminds us, in his coup de grace, "We have a £100million debt so we can’t ignore the economic reality. Clubs know we are in debt and want a bargain."
Now let's strip that down to the basics shall we? David Gold has just said: "We are £100million in debt. We don't want to sell our best players on the cheap but if the right offer comes in, what can we do?"
One last footnote. The Metro reported the story and quoted Gold saying, "We're trying to break the mould" (sic). Break the "mould"? Tell Karren to get the rubber gloves on and start scrubbing. What's the good of having a woman if she can't do basic cleaning duties!
Idiot
ReplyDeleteNow be fair, he is a multi millionaire so he can't be an idiot!

You lose again!
HF you are being over cynical once again. Remember the D's did take over a worthless Birmingham City and sell the club mid table in the premier league a few years later for 80 million, so they can't be that bad.
ReplyDeleteHf it seems as if this post was made for the sake of posting something.

If Yakubu is coming, Carlton must be going.
ReplyDeleteI wanted him to play tonight and do well in front of Capello. Now I'm not sure because it may convince Hodgson that Cole will be worth going for.
@TGGC, why would you bother requesting from your readers that remarks avoid offensive language and racism and then finish this post with an extremely stale, unfunny sexist comment/question?

ReplyDeleteThe proof of the pudding will be in the eating regarding my cynicism. I hope I am wrong, but I don't think I am. Surely the shift in language is significant?
ReplyDelete1309, I say nothing about sexist language do I? Girlies don't really like football and are too busy in the kitchen to read this anyway. Quite apart from that, most of them can't use the internet can they? Mates set them up on Facebook and put it on Favourites bar and hey presto, that's the internet! ; }
ReplyDeleteThis article needs a new headline...
ReplyDelete'Gold hints at sale of Parker AND instructs official WH web site to state that we've retained his services - on the same day!'
Also, do you really need capital letters for all the words in the headline?
NO YOU DON'T, NOT NEEDED FOR at AND of!
ReplyDeletePlease keep that in mind next time you post an article. Sub-standard writing is annoying.
ReplyDeleteI WILL DO MY BEST!
ReplyDeleteOh HF I am sorry my friend I heard that SP is signing an extra year.
