Stoke Lower Their Target To Appropriate Level Of Mediocrity

Well Stoke sniffed around Cole and Remy but, in the end, are in talks with Radislav Kovac instead. Mr Mediocrity is much more Stoke's sort of player: he will look good in red and white stripes and has the perfect build to join in the cavalry charge for one of Delap's throw ins!

To be fair to Kovac, he has done a job at the Boleyn. He hasn't done it terribly well, but he has done a job. I will never forget that cracking goal at Everton, his celebration after scoring against Pompey and his crucial goal against Wigan. We will all forget his sideways and backwards passing very quickly, however.

As Stoke will discover, Kovac has three major weaknesses. His vision is limited, his reading of the game is awful, which means he reacts to situations rather than predicting them, and he cannot tackle with his left foot. So, run at Kovac and dribble to his left, and you are guaranteed, at worst, a free kick.

I wish the guy well but I am not sorry to see him go.

  1. Yeah let's laugh at little ole Stoke and while we're doing it, maybe we should remind ourselves that they're on the verge of smashing our transfer record by a couple of million, with their bid for Jones.

  2. Like they were going to with Cole and Remy you mean? If you were Jones, would you join Stoke? Remember, we were going to sign Beckham, Ronaldhino and Thierry Henry weren't we?

  3. I never really understood why we signed Kovac after his loan spell.

He didn't perform well enough to 'earn' a permanent deal, we already had/have more than enough cover in his position and he's almost 31. It just doesn't make sense. Especially for £3m.

Kovac aside, it does look like Peter Coates wants to spend some of his betting fortune now to get Stoke to the next level.

I think their biggest problem won't be money but convincing top players to join. Something that WH sometimes suffer with too.

that just makes me laugh more

spending that amount on a big lump of a forward that wins headers but doesn't score goals

  5. When are you going to 'break' the Sulejmani/permit news? Your customary 4 hours after people already know?!

Come on, you're becoming even more predictable.

  7. If you can't laugh at the idea that we might be able to get rid of Kovac AND actually get some money for him, what can you laugh at?

  11. 17.37, you seem to be confusing this with a news site. Blogs dont report news, they comment on it. Retard!
