So claims the Official Site to explain his absence from the Switzerland team that played England last night. That's interesting because it suggests that Mr Huff and Puff isn't injured after all. If not injured, why hasn't he been playing? Because he was leaving? Refusing to play? Who knows? Maybe the Official Site could tell us.
Jacobsen and Ben Haim have both got in game time for their nations as a warm up for Chelsea though. Mind you, Drogba and co offer more of a threat than Iceland and Georgia!
What about Matty Upson? How far down the list of England centre halves is he now? Behind Ferdinand, Terry, Jagielka, Lescott, Cahill and Dawson at least! And poor old Carlton only seems to be in Capello's squad to make up the numbers too. No Crouch, and he still doesn't even make it on to the bench.
It will be interesting to see how they all get on now. Upson and Carlton with their dreams crushed although I doubt if we could expect any different when WH are bottom. It's a recipe for disaster for the manager to play players at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteAs for Behrami he has clearly been angling for a move to Italy and failed. He's even lost his international place so the only way for all of them is up or.....
There was an interview with Berhami on the official site a few days back where he said that he's not going to play for Switzerland in the international break as he wants to make sure he recovers to play for West Ham. He wasn't fully fit/recovered so he didn't risk it.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how a player who wants to leave shows more committment than some of them who appear to be happy at the club!!
I'm surprised that Carlton or Upson even got in the squad based on their performances so far this season.
ReplyDeleteBent looks far better than Cole at the moment and Lescott and Jagielka get might vote way ahead of Upson.
Surprisingly, I thought that Hart looked quite poor yesterday (possibly overconfident). He made at least four or five mistakes last night with his catching and kicking and was lucky not to have cost us a goal or two.
Green made one huge mistake at the WC but hardly any smaller errors and has harshly been made the scapegoat. He needs to be back in the squad to give Hart genuine competition and keep his feet on the ground.
Saw this article and thought of you HF:

It's right up your street.
Wrong about England winning the World Cup with Cole playing a major role. Wrong about Parker leaving and wrong regarding Behrami not playing last night, he was SUSPENDED.
ReplyDelete1215, did the Official Site say England would win the World Cup with Cole playing a major role and that Parker would be sold? Bloody hell, I missed that. Because it was the Official Site that said that Behrami missed the Switzerland game to focus on club duty. Mind you, I say that in the opening sentence so perhaps you can't read! Mind you, I'm not so sure he was suspended. I think you get a one game ban for a red card. Switzerland played another game after the Chile match in which Behrami was sent off. So, maybe YOU are wrong and not the Official Site!
ReplyDelete0954 Hart, keep his feet on the ground? That's what Green does when crosses come into the box isn't it? We don't need ANOTHER England keeper doing the same thing!
Was this Hart's first non-friendly international away game? Maybe his nerves were understandable. His ability is clear though.
ReplyDeleteStani - Green's ability is clear as well but he wasn't given any 'get out of jail' cards for nerves at his first World Cup was he?
ReplyDeleteThis is international football and our goalkeeper needs to be ready and able to handle the situation, including nerves. No excuses.
Hart is definitely our best keeper but he needs a senior keeper in the England squad to give him genuine competition.
"I am delighted," he said. "I am just absolutely delighted to have signed the contract. Everyone knows I enjoy playing my football here. I really wanted to stay here, give it a shot and see what can happen. I just want to do the best for West Ham and I can't wait for Saturday against Chelsea."
ReplyDeletewho said that fanno?
09:46,
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree on that mate. Green is not commanding, lacks confidence, has poor positional play and is bad with his kicking.
I don't think a senior keeper is required as long as you have seniority/experience in defence. Plus, though Green may be a senior, he's not very experienced in European or Internationals so that point is not too important really. By the end of this season, Hart will be more experienced than him in both those categories anyway.
Stani - Green might be lacking in confidence right now but there's generally not much wrong with either his positioning or kicking.
ReplyDeleteHis catching and punching however are a completely different story, shockingly bad!
Hart is undoubtedly a good young keeper but is way overhyped at the moment purely because there's no one else good enough to compare him with. Also, he's way too cocky at the moment and WILL end up making similar clangers as James, Robinson, Carson and Green. I'll go out on a limb on that one.
In terms of English GK's he's basically the best of a very bad bunch at the moment.
