Grant will be sacked within the next 48 hours
That's it. The 5-0 defeat has sealed Avram's fate. Expect an announcement imminently. Who is going to replace him?
Is that a Brown Volvo I see chugging down the A12?

Martin Jol would be our best bet, big fat Sam maybe. . . Whoever it is would have their work cut out, although there is no denying, Curbs could do a job
i am hoping we get a players coach like chris hughton. I know many will say hughton resembles Zola in being a players coach, but hughton can bring a team up and has respect in the locker room even to this day in Newcastle. Either way, 48 hours is tooo long to wait for the sacking, since Chrismas, since his first "3 game chance", I have felt Grant should have been gone. He saved himself with the huge (lucky) Man U game, hopefully he wont be so lucky again to see BARNSLEY
07:07 sorry HF I believe 00:39 is corret you have been slow on the uptake - anyway we all know it was Turds who caused the mess - please god let it be Martin Jol, Chris Hughton anyone except Turds
Do you still think that Grant can save us and build a team for the future HF? And all these excuses that we were on top form and the game at Newcastle is the odd one out is totally wrong. We were never on form. We were just lucky in the previous games. I hate to say I told you so, but I did. I would go for O'Neal if he is available and wants to come. But really anyone is better than Grant, even Zola!
By the way, Spector, Gabbidon whould follow AG out the door. Tomkins should be sent back to the academy for a year or two.
whoever, they have their work cut out .. Big Sam would put the fear of god into the squad and they'd certainly be fitter and he gets my vote.
Incidentally just read telegraph article which says Sidwell deal fell through because of the 25 senior player rule - he wanted to join but it was our failure to move any of the laggards on that's scuppered the deal - duxbury and co still screwing with us from beyond the 'grave' ..also the Sidwell incident is the first instance of the 25 rule blocking a transfer- ironic given that it is designed to encourage more local production something which we have always excelled at..
Roy Keane has just been shown the door by Ipswich. Its worrying that he could also become a contender for the job but at least he is capable of giving the hair dryer half time team 'talks'.
Overall though i dont think it would be an improvement. Ipswich have the same situation as us. Struggling in the Fizzy with 7 defeats in the last 9 games, but still in the Carling Semi.
"I make no secret of having been opposed to the appointment of Curbishley from the off and, despite our slide down the table since he flounced out of the club, I still hold with the view that he was the wrong man for the job. Why are where we are now? In large part because of the ludicrous purchases"
You just wrote that in your previous post HF and now you say Zola "caused this mess"? Could you tell us how? Fr an intelligent guy, why do you get so childish and irrational when it comes to Zola?
You've been proved wrong about Grant. Leave Zola alone now HF.
This is the west ham utd fool's! Grant WILL NOT be sacked. Of course he should be but remember this is West Ham Utd where nothing normal ever happens. He will defeat Barnsley and lose narrowly to Arsenal. That's okay because they are worldclass and contenders for the title! He will take us to Wembley...this will distract us from relegation. Why will this happen? I believe the porn baron's are fully responsible for our decline. They fired Zola (who kept us up) and gave us Grant. Quite simple.
LOL it is easy to explain, but not easy for some of you to follow it seems. There are two messes. The financial mess, caused by Curbishley's stupid signings - that's why I break down the expenditure - and the motivational mess which is of Zola's making. Curbishley left behind a group of players good enough to finish in the top half of the table but a financial quagmire; Zola took that team and turned them into a rabble on the field. Grant inherited a situation - unlike Zola - where there was no money to spend AND the squad was imbalanced and the players rulling the roost and acting like Billy Big Bollocks.
Grant reckons we have only had three bad performances out of twenty three In that case his playing standards must be vastly lower than those of the West Ham fans. Personally I would reverse it and say we have only had three good performances out of twenty three I am sure that is far more accurate. Who the hell is this man trying to kid. He is an insult to our intelligence
Actually HF, it's not very easy and that is a poor explanation. Two messes or not, one lead to the other. Do you think the players Zola had to sell and the rubbish he was forced to bring in was nothing to do with Eggert and Curbishley's profligacy? Come on mate, I'd expect even Fred to make that link.
Zola had to struggle because of Curbishley. He had to sell players on high wages and work on a shoe string when the club was in financial trouble because of Curbishley and Magnusson. And he had injury problems worse than Grant has.
It is that easy! Of course one mess leads to another - and poor Grant has inherited Curbishley's and Zola's messes. You said it! Glad you've admitted it at last!
"Two messes or not"....I never said anything of the sort!
My view is it was one mess, going all the way back to Curbishley and Eggert. Zola got chucked in...hired because he was the only one who probably work in such a situation. Then came Grant, who was given time in pre-season, money in pre-season, and support by the chairmen throughout, to sort it out but he has failed. He has done worse than Zola, in better circumstances. Of all the last 3 managers, Zola had the worst conditions in which to work in. End of argument.
They may have led to Grant but then here is where my next point comes in "Grant, who was given time in pre-season, money in pre-season, and support by the chairmen throughout, to sort it out but he has failed. He has done worse than Zola, in better circumstances. Of all the last 3 managers, Zola had the worst conditions in which to work in. End of argument."
Not so. Zola took over a team that had finished 10th the season before and turned them into a side that finished 4th from bottom in 18 months. Grant took over that team and has struggled to revive a corpse! Very little has been "spent" and because of the incompetence of Zola and Nani, Grant is having to operate with a team that owes next to NOTHING to Zola's 18 month reign. It was a wasted period, a period of terrible decline, a period presided over by a smiling clown!
Of course not! Zola wanted McCarthy! Zola was consulted on Savio! Zola approved the sale of Collins so he could have Diamanti - who he then wouldn't start! Zola didn't even bother to phone Neill when he was out of contract! Zola didn't speak to Ashton to check on his injury position! Zola wanted forwards, forwards, forwards. Zola signed Jimenez, Tristan, Savio, Di Michelle, Franco, Diamanti, McCarthy, Mido, Ilan, Nouble...he didn't sign a single right back or a left back! We had a settled defence when he took over but he sold Collins. No we didn't have the same squad did we?
Then why wasnt it the same? Because Zola had to get rid and Nani buy trash because of the financial trouble we were in due to Eggert and Curbishley. Thanks! Zola didnt do the buying. Nani did. Blame him and blame Dux.
Zola had to let Collins go to balance the books. You know that. Neill did not come to us not because Zola didnt call him, it was because we could only offer so much, again due to the financial trouble. He kept his options open and Zola could simply offer no more.
Collins had to go to BUY Diamanti. Collins was sold because ZOLA prioritised another forward. ZOLA SAID he had the FINAL SAY on all footballing matters. ZOLA made no attempt to sign full backs. ZOLA sold Etherington. ZOLA tried to play 4-3-3 without genuine wide men. ZOLA created a woefully imbalanced squad because of his obsession with 4-3-3. Grant has tried to address the imbalance and plug the gaps in the squad that resulted from Zola's one eyed obsession with 4-3-3. He has signed a right back, a utility defender, a left footed midfielder and a winger, in addition to a striker.
Wow...bunch of little girls whinning about curbs, zola and grant. The expression..."Cutting off the nose to spite the face" come's to mind! Total self destruction. We should be pulling to together because after relegation the real problems will begin. The solution next season is to get rid of the present team and start from scratch. If that doesn't happened I really believe we are doomed to further relegation. OUR team are shit....quite simple really. Its the players silly boy's!
Surely it would be better to agree that based on the squads available to Curbs., Zola and Grant, we should not be bottom of the pile or even worrying about relegation. Ok they were all unlucky with injuries but that's football. All of them have under achieved big time.
Ok, Zola and Grant took over in difficult circumstances but their job was to sort it out.
Harry took over at Spurs when they had 2 points and were adrift at the bottom. How long did it take him to sort it out? Do you think Harry would have agreed to spend the transfer budget on the likes of Savio, Winston Reid or Barrera?
No, the last three managers messed up and we now need someone decent to dig us out of the hole. There is still time before the Ides of March. Martin O'Neill would be the man but he will wait for the Liverpool or Chelsea job. As difficult as it is to accept, our best chance of Premiership football next season is to appoint Big Fat Sam.
O'Neill left a financial millstone around the neck of Villa, just like Turds did to us! What's the point of being in the Prem if we play Championship football under Allardyce? I would rather play propper football in the Championship personally. Get rid of the primadonnas and play the West Ham way with kids brought through the Academy!
2124, that was always Stani's argument in defence of Zola. Don't blame Zola, it's the players' fault. Now, because Grant is the manager, it's not the players' fault, Grant is to blame! That is hypocritical!
Am I a hypocrite? I insisted it was Zola's fault but now I am saying it is the players' fault! Isn't thatt the same as Stani's argument through the looking glass?
No. Curbishley handed over a team that finished in 10th place and Zola destroyed that side. He was at fault. Grant inherited a team that had not been effectively managed for 18 months and which was low in confidence and had developed, thanks to Zola, a belief that they were better than they actually are, and so are not prepared to compensate for poor ability with increased effort. Grant's job was therefor close to impossible given the club, thanks to the excesses of Turds & Egg, were unable to fund a restructuring of the team.
You are right when you say the team has to be completely revamped. Green, Dyer, Upson, Parker, Cole, Ilunga, Faubert, Boa, Behrami - all have to go. Make Noble the captain. Build around him, Collison, Hines (if fit), Tomkins, Da Costa, Stech, Barrera (he needs time), Reid and new recruits. Two years in the Championship and come back stronger, with hunger.
What do teams like Wolves, West Brom, Blackpool, Bolton, Sunderland etc have in common?? Most of their players are white and black english, scots and irish!! This fosters teamwork by creating a work culture that values collaboration. In a teamwork environment, people understand and believe that thinking, planning, decisions and actions are better when done cooperatively. People recognize, and even assimilate, the belief that “none of us is as good as all of us" The point is our squad doesn't HAVE IT because we are made up of way to many average foreign players who will not assimilate into the team, don't give a damn about our history and of course have no idea what it means to wear the claret and blue. That also goes for the manager.
23:31 of course SBOBET did pay forward the next years sponsorship for Diamanti but don't expect HF to acknowledge that one as it ruins his conspiracy theory.
Well I do acknowledge that actually. But we could have used that money to keep Collins. Simples. Collins was sold because we couldn't afford to keep him and buy Diamanti. Why else would we sell Ginge?
Grant address the imbalance? He sold Daprela! Our only other left back. He sold Diamanti! Our only left footed attacking player apart from the injured Hitzlberger. Was he addressing the imbalance? And have Grant's signings worked?
00:36 Actually my argument was that it was not mainly down to Zola HF. It was the problems at the club and the players we had that were mainly to blame. The reason this does not apply to Grant now is that he has the support of the Chairmen and he signed almost a whole new team but we are still bottom. No hypocrisy here.
And as for the Collins sale, didn't Sullivan himself not say in the first press conference that if Collins would not have been sold the club would have been in trouble? Yes. He was speaking aboutt how close we were to administration and that is what he said. That shows you the balancing act Zola had to do and what he had to work with. Players were sold from Zola to keep our club alive and he still kept us up.
Switching back on your argument now. Want me to find you justifying Zola not picking him because of possible trigger payments?
What support does grant have that Zola never had? They bought McCartney at Zola's request as I've proved and Grant has said he had no idea what was happening with Sidwell because he wasn't involved in it. Zola boasted he had the final say on ALL comings and goings; Grantt has said no such thing. In fact, he implied the opposite when he saifd he was out of the loop with Sidwell! Sullivan and Gold voiced more public support for Zola than they have voiced for Grant. Zola lost FIVE, count them, FIVE games on the trot, and still kept his job - including home defeats against Wolves & Stoke! Grant is on the brink after losing one game!
"Grant is on the brink after losing one game" - No, he is on the brink because our great club is on the brink, rock bottom of the table. The 5-0 tonking by an average Newcastle side was the icing on the cake. That was the tenth league defeat of the season (out of 22). He has only won 4. One game indeed..
"Grant not in the loop with Sidwell" Did you watch the same interview as me? Grant said he was a good player who he would like to bring to the club, (and he was short in that position), but he was not involved with the financial negotiations. That is a far cry from your interpretation above.
Likely the Sidwell deal fell through in view of the current management uncertainty.
Board meeting on Wednesday so Grant should be ok until then. G& S will fancy a Wembley pay day and won't be best pleased if they have to entertain the current B'rum Board on Tuesday night if we lose. Must win game for Grant, then the Arsenal game to worry about.
Martin O'Neill at Upton Park rumour today and being backed as next manager on Skybet? That sounds much too good to be true.
Who is that hot girl in the plumber caption by the way? That is about the best thing I have seen on this blog lately.

Most of you would still have Zola in charge 0039, and he caused this mess!
How was the Man U 4-0 game "lucky"? Did they score four clumsy own goals?
07:07 sorry HF I believe 00:39 is corret you have been slow on the uptake - anyway we all know it was Turds who caused the mess - please god let it be Martin Jol, Chris Hughton anyone except Turds

I think they just may go for Allardyce. He gets more out of average players than Curbishley.
We need someone is is a bit lively and who can gee up and bollock people. It has to be fat Sam. Curbs doesn't fit the requirements.
The amount of support Zola has on WHTID is shocking. Grant must be given more time.
