Move Over Dyer & Hitz - Here Comes Demba Ba!

What is it about West Ham? Why does the club NEVER learn? Hasn't the premature retirement of Ashton taught us anything? Doesn't the log jam in the treatment room register at all? Brady proposed changing the name of the club to West Ham Olympic but West Ham Paralympics would be more appropriate!

But regardless of history, regardless of the absurd wages we are still paying Dyer to sit on his arse, we are now signing Ba on loan until the end of the season, agreeing to pay his wages whilst he "proves" his fitness, even though he wasn't fit enough to pass Stoke's test. But then, Pulis expects his players to run and run, to show commitment to the cause, to close, to run for the full ninety minutes. No such physical duress if you join West Ham eh?

One report suggests Ba will not be fit for 5 months, round about the time he is due to return to Germany. He joins us on Monday, in time to play on Wednesday if fit. But that is a huge if!

I tell you what, I would love to work for Dyno Rod in Newham. Sooner or later the club is going to need somebody to unblock the money they keep tipping down the drain!

It's been reported in more than a few places that he faked a knee injury as he didn't want to go stoke....... something else you didn't hear. tut tut.

Something I wouldn't post unless certain. Wishful thinking I suspect!

Well he must have passed the West Ham medical.

Even though you claim "I wouldn't post unless certain" you didn't mind posting the bit about him being unfit for the next 5 months.

Once again you prove yourself to be a hypocrite of the highest order!

Pure desperation. But I guess these are the only kind of players that would wanna play for these morons. Let's hope he doesn't break down.

I think he has got a dodgy knee. Google image him and in a number of images he has that black tape on his left knee. So either the injury is real or he planned failing the Stoke medical on purpose a very long time ago! :)

Well, I think the reason for not passing Stokes medical could be another one.
It was cristal clear that Ba wouldn't return to Hoffenheim. There were also no other Bundesliga clubs interested in Ba because of his behaviour. Stoke knew that so they told the press and Hoffenheim Ba didn't pass the medical to lower his price tag. That would also explain why Stoke still wanted his signature after the failed medical.
I'm not worried that we signed him. He played pretty good in the last 1 1/2 years and we urgendly need a stiker that scores some goals. I don't believe he's got a serious injury at all.

1920, you seem to have missed the words, "one report suggests". Why have you crawled out of your hole again? And what has hypocrisy got to do with the price of bread in Newport?

Bavarian, I don't follow the logic. Stoke wanted him. Why would they fail his medical unless there is a genuine problem?

B4V4R14N_H4MM3R said...

They were sure that Hoffenheim definitely wants to offload him. Why pay 6 mio if you know that a failed medical will lower his price and the club still wants to get rid of him ?

Hammersfan said...

I see. That would work if nobody else wanted him, but we did.

B4V4R14N_H4MM3R said...

Yep, but what was your response to the failed test ? - another injured player, not thanks!
That reaction from other potentially interested clubs would leave Stoke alone. It's just a possibility how it could have been, I'm just supposing ;)

Hammersfan said...

Maybe. I'm anticipating him seeing a lot of the treatment room sadly.

I believe he wouldn't be allowed to play Wednesday anyway as he wasn't signed before the first leg. Dzeko wasn't allowed to play for city against leicster. I know that was a reply so slightly different but I'm sure the same rule applies.

20:46 but your argument is that "I wouldn't post unless certain" well "one report suggesting" can't have made you certain now can it?

Is continuity really too much to ask?

Hammersfan said...

Interesting 2123, but I hope (and think) you are wrong.

2144, there is a BIG difference. I don't mind reporting that another source has suggested he may not be fit for five months, I'm not going to suggest he deliberately feigned injury to avoid going to Stoke!

He was going to sign for VFB Stuttgart in 2009, but he failed a medical then. Sounds like a very dodgy knee... and a very dodgy deal.

Also reported that Pablo Mouche (the next Tevez) is due to join on loan but he hasn't got a passport.

Two strikers in? Wonder where Cole is going?

Hammersfan said...

Yes, all sounds very dodgy to me. No passport? I've heard some excuses in my time but that just about takes the biscuit! So, a forward with only one knee and an illegal immigrant. Welcome to West Ham!

HF(22:55)

Can I correct you on a legal technicality on the term "takes the biscuit"

In a noted tax case, considerable time and costs were spent in deliberating whether a "jaffa cake" should be considered a "cake" or a "biscuit". For VAT purposes chocolate biscuits are classified as confectionery and are subject to VAT whilst cakes are not. On the basis old cakes go hard when stale, and biscuits go soft it was decided that a "jaffa cake" was indeed a cake rather than a biscuit. Using the same criteria I am pretty sure a "rum ba-ba" would also be classified as a cake.

Well that's alright then!

Hopefully this bloke can put the ball in the back of the net, looked pretty good on that youtube clip.

Next five league games are Blackpool (a), Birmingham City (h), WBA (a), Liverpool (h) and Stoke City (h), these fixtures will make or break our season, 10 points at least from those matches and we'll be well on our way to safety.

I was watching Peep Show last night and it all of sudden occurred to me that you are very much like the main character played by David Mitchell.

When checking wikipedia Mark Corrigan (played by Mitchell) is described as.... awkward and socially inept, with a pessimistic and critical attitude.

kevin in manchesterw rites..

very droll HF - it's potentially not funny at all but you made me laugh west ham paralympic love it.

Masty said...

Fanno, I have heard he failed the Stoke medical because of scar tissue. Also heard he loves pizza...

Beggars can't be chooser's. His goal scoring record looks fairly good, and it is only a 6 month loan deal not a 3 year contract so probably the risk is worth taking.

hammalot said...

those reports about Bas current fitness are rubbish mate.

He is an abosulte goal horse...dont worry

Rev said...

Desperate times Fanno and knowing our luck it could go tits up but if he bangs in a few then......

Massive week for our club and let's all hope that even some of your posters are a bit more cheerful come Saturday!!

By the way have you been barred again?

Anonymous said...

it is true he has a dodgy knee but its als otrue he is strong quik and can finish and it is also true that he has played nearly every game this season for hoffenheim it is not true that he needs 5 months to get fit

Hammersfan said...

Me barred Rev? Barred from where? To be honest, if you visit a bar and find the beer is luke warm, you don't need to be barred to choose not to go in there. Honest answer? No. Not as far as I know. But trying to get a debate going is like trying to start a bundle in a pub full of armless pacifists isn't it? I think a few of the old regulars need to be coordinated to be at the bar at the same time and somebody should swing a left hook. Get Grumpy in there to kick me in the head when I fall to my knees, get Irons throwing around a few stools, get westham66 to dribble into his pint, get OSP to dance around the fringes in his jester's cap before karate kicking Hotshot as he comes through the door, get Del tut tutting and issuing public order offences, you can read that bible speech from Pulp Fiction "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee"...

At the moment, the pub seems to have a sign outside reading "Morgue"!

Rev said...

Lol I know what you mean.

I am still popping in for the odd pint as I still consider it my local but I find it hard to get myself involved.

Is it the team on/off the pitch getting me down or did the smoking ban do irreversible damage??

Hammersfan said...

I've never smoked mate. Mind you the wife does after my best moves! ; }

I can see him limping off. It's the West Ham way....
