West Ham Debt Free in Three Years?

Interesting to read that the debt has supposedly shrunk to just £80million. Now whilst I wouldn't like that sort of mortgage on the family home, you have to wonder how big of a problem it is to a club like West Ham when, in a recession and with the team struggling abysmally on the pitch, it is still possible to wipe £30million off the debt mountain in just 12 months!

Now, we haven't sold anybody for a significant sum over that period. Behrami, Diamanti and Daprella haven't yielded more than £6million between them. Meanwhile, fees have been paid to bring in McBenni, Piquionne, Reid, Barerra and Jacobsen, plus loan fees for Ben Haim, Obinna and Bridge. I suspect money in and out have roughly balanced each other out so far.

The wage bill is also due to fall next year. Dyer will be off the payroll and so will Upson. That's £140k a week or £7,280,000 a year!

So, if we can survive in the Prem, it will only take three years at this rate to clear all debt. Financial Armageddon? Were the Davids selling us a line by any chance?

Perish the thought!

i honestly think sullivan and gold are alot more clever then people give them credit for as they wont give dyer a new contacrt they got boa morte of 45k to 20k and the ywill let upson go if he refuses to take a pay cut and reid barrera are not even on 20k a week anyway piquionne was bought for 1 mil hitzlpurger free didanti was on 35k and daprela 5k. would also explain why they are the only ones not worried about the finances if we go down

From what I read on KUMB today, it's the lady Brady that's the brains behind GOSU (Go Sue, everyone else tries to, lol)
Am I right in thinking that If we went down & came straight back up then the Prem payments would never stop, what with the parachute payment etc

Think we would miss out on about £20 million for the season we were down. But I may be wrong.

Or about £12.5M after you take out Dyers & Upsons wages, which is but a drop in the ocean compared to some of the money we've wasted in recent years.

I personally don't think the debt ever was as big as they claimed it to be. More spin and hype by the masters of spin and hype. They might have suckered in many but Im not one of them.

Prior to their arrival it sounded as though the club was being run badly and there was a lot of wastage. No doubt in the first year the cut in wastage would show a big drop in the debt. The second year will be more difficult, but hopefully a general wages reduction will assist.
I wonder if some money came back via the solicitor's in the Tevez affair.

they arent the ones who said it was 100 mill anyway

No Fred, they said it was £110million, which is why the debt has been reduced by £30m TO £80m!

That's right John. In addition, they sacked quite a few club staff too and took away the privileges of some of the club's past players (boxes etc). They also did things like remove Bobby Moore's name from the pre-season cup in favour of the sponsor's. They launched more products and services too as flogged in the emails.

Some would say shrewd, but should a football club be seen simply as just another business?
