What a picture! In fact, he was wearing the same expression he wore for the whole of last season! At one point Dalglish turned to his fellow Scot for help, and Zola's former number two just shook his head.
What could he say? "Can't explain it boss, they never played like this when Zola and me were in charge!"
Did you see Andy Flowers face? He was not amused..
ReplyDeleteWhat a game that was though! England looked much happier at the end than India. At innings change over we didn't stand a West Ham at Anfield's chance!!!!
ReplyDeleteNice picture and comment!
ReplyDeleteFlower's never amused Isaac. He is arrogant and has an attitude problem.
ReplyDeleteOf course there was a chance HF. India's bowling attack is average. Should have kept Bopara in place of Yardy though....even though Yardy is a fellow Hammer!
And Steve Clarke was saying 'Only if they had given us this kind of support, we would have done even better'. They never played like that because it's a different team.
Yeah I know mate. When Zola and Clarke were in charge, they identified McBenni as our saviour!
ReplyDeleteNow now, you know who bought him. The same guys that were waiting and waiting around for bargains until there was no choice but to spend on real players like Ba, Bridge and Keane.
ReplyDeleteNow stop trying to prove a point that cannot be proven. On such a great day, such a hope burgeoning day, stop being a negative old fogey.
And you well know that it was Clarke and Zola who pushed for him, which is why Ilan was left out in the cold for so long. He was Sulli's choice!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, today was the FIRST time this season that we have seen Grant's side selected. Hitzlespurger was always a key component of the side. Unlike Zola, he has sorted out the full back positions and found a team that plays with shape and balance. Gone are the days of using players out of position - a Zola speciality.
ReplyDeleteGrant did all the things you accused Zola of doing. You know this and you have posted it on before. Sop being contradictory.
ReplyDeleteZola did not have these players. Had he had them, we would have seen better shape and balance. Let it go.
I agree, Grant has 'found' a team with shape and balance!
Hopefully we'll stay up and the manager will be replaced in the summer like Gold Sullivan and Brady tried to do earlier.
And Brady continues to make snide remarks towards Grant: "What is it about Cups, Avram? We've had more wins in them than in the Prem this season. "

Speaking of faces, wasn't it nice to see some real emotion from Grant?! I screamed along with him.

Our game against Wigan will be massive as will theirs against Blackpool and West Brom's against Wolves.
Uncanny that Spurs play every one of our relegation rivals. Will Spurs have a hand in keeping us up? :) As long as no one tells Harry!
We know Queen Karren hates him Stani, almost as much as you do! What you can't get away from is the fact that Zola took over a top ten team and turned them into a fourth from bottom side. He still hasn't got a job has he? Why do you think that is?
ReplyDeleteWish you hadn't posted the bloody fixtures. I have a superstition about knowing our rivals have to play! I can't read those bloody posts!
Zola was not responsible for dismantling that squad HF, or for what was brought in, you know this. The reason they employed him is because someone just coming into management, like him, would have been the only person to take that job because of our financial troubles and the selling that was about to occur.
ReplyDeleteParker doesn't like you mate. You know you said about his goal: "And Parker meant it, he was celebrating as soon as the shot left his boot!"? Well he's just said the following in an interview:
"when it left my foot I wasnt sure it was going in". Haaahahaha. He's clocking onto you mate!

And check what Grant said about Gold:
"We have a tradition of talking before the game, sometimes he gives me the tactics"! Hahaha, I dont blame him.

Superstition: an irrational belief arising from ignorance or fear. You HF? An atheist? Dont read them HF, they look grim :)
I won't. But as somebody so superstitious as to believe in God, you are in no position to talk mate. I'm reading an interesting book at the moment, Fromm's "The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness". Give it a go.
ReplyDeleteI didnt say I wasnt superstitious. But belief in God isnt irrational, neither does it come from ignorance or fear.
ReplyDeleteDid you give my books a go? Which ones?
In my list. The problem is, I am a slow reader and I have so much to read. Just finished The Golden Bough, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Jenkins' The New Christianity, and Mauss's A General Theory of Magic. Half way through Fromm's tome - more interesting than the rest and part way through Russell's The Devil, Perceptions of Evil from Antiquity to Primitive Christianity.
ReplyDeleteThey better be. I'll add yours to my list also.
ReplyDeleteReading should be done slowly. I refuse to believe that people (normal ones, not savants) who read fast take in more than 50% of what they 'read'. What's the point then?
So many interesting books but choosing which to read at any time can be a real b****rd.
I know you have an interest in religion (strange for an atheist...sorry, 'atheist') but magic also? Why magic?
What's that Fromm's tome...can't find it.
Just two points after seeing MOTD2:
How on earth did Parker get so much power in that little flick? There was no upper leg, or lower leg leverage, just foot involved. It was all ankle...unbelievable.
And I know he played well, but do you think Tomka should have followed up his header for Pool's goal when Jacobsen hesitated? Seeing it again, Tomkins was facing out so could have taken responsibility and control of the situation and followed his header with a boot....taking Jacobsen with him if he had to. Jacobsen was facing the wrong way so hesitated in sending it out for a corner.
Daughter's degree course mate. She likes to bounce things off me so I have to do the reading to give an informed opinion!
ReplyDeleteThat's really nice. I think one day you'll owe her a debt of gratitude, even though it seems the other way around right now.
ReplyDelete...and I think most things would bounce off you!
