Well I am dumbfounded. If we lose today and fail to score, Grant will be crucified, and with good reason! A major surprise is the return of Upson - can he really be ready? - whilst the exclusion of Cole after 5 goals in 6 games is staggering. No wonder he sounded shocked on his Twitter message! Presumably Sears is injured. How else can you explain his absence, even from the subs bench?
The team suggested on the OS reads:
Green: Jacobsen, Tomkins, Upson, Bridge; O'Neil, Noble, Parker, Hizlespurger; Ba, Piquionne Subs: Boffin, Reid, Da Costa, Boa, Spector, Cole & Hines
It is so astounding a team that I have concerns that some bugger is taking the piss! I agree wholeheartedly with 4-4-2 but the selections within that formation are nothing short of staggering.
I have to disagree with you on this one fanno. Its not far off the team I would of had ( Obinna if fit instead of Oneil). Sears simply isn't good enough and Cole to inconsistent. We need strikers today who will put in a shift and close the fullbacks down, and that certainly isn't Cole's strengths. With the personnel out there he can switch to 4-5-1 (which he may start like) with Ba upfront on his own and Piq moving to the wing, which again is a role Cole wouldn't do as effective. Time will tell if he has made the correct choices today. I do feel, long term he must decide 2 from Hitz, Parker and Noble as 4-4-2 suits us better.
ReplyDeleteHope you are right mate!
ReplyDeletewe r playing 4-3-3
ReplyDeletealso against west brom we only scored goals when we changed to 4-3-3 otherwise we wouldve let in more
ReplyDeletePoor Sears. He should be starting instead of O Neil! If we take the lead, O Neil would come on in the second half and do alright with it...but he shouldn't start.... I really hope Hitz and Parker hold the midfield well, and WHERE IS OBINNA?! I can probably find Osama Bin Laden alot easier.
ReplyDeleteHalf time 2-0. Dont let Grant in the dressing room!!!
ReplyDeleteBa is the third West Ham player to score three goals in his first three Premier League matches for the club after Trevor Sinclair (January to February 1998) and Ian Wright (August to
ReplyDeletePOSSESSION: West Ham 60%-40% Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteWest ham need to take the advantage when playing against an average team (like LOOSERFOOOOOL) to rack up their goal difference, it will be important in the relegation battle.
ReplyDeleteHF I'm dumbfounded with you mate - it is so astounding a team - and as you say nothing short of staggering......
ReplyDeleteWELL DONE YOU HAMMERS - THANK GOD WE DON'T TAKE HF SERIOUSLY.
We took the piss!
Cole and Ba up front from now on for God's sake.
ReplyDeletethe best we have played all season, the best result we have had this season, scotty parker had another stormer and got the all important first goal. ba scored again, hitz, parker and noble ran the midfield. i cant honesly remember the last time we beat liverpool so not that bad of a team selection i reckon
ReplyDeleteHe's only a poor little scouser
ReplyDeleteHe's face is all battered and torn
he make me feel sick
so I hit him with a brick
and now he don't sing anymorrrrrrrrreee!
HF, do you wanna leave the cricket for a minute!?!? We're staying up!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you still think Scott Parker is part of the problem at West Ham HF?
ReplyDeleteok stani, HF and for sav when he posts i dont think parker is the problem and i dont think noble is either it seems more to d owith as a two player cenet rmid partnership there not very well matched but its alot more balanced with hit in there an all and tr ynot be negative HF and stani it hasnt been tried but i think cole would do well on the wing in a 4-3-3 as he can defend better then Piq and another thing to everyone IT WAS 4-3-3 NOT 4-4-2 GET IT RIGHT!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteStani,
ReplyDeleteNope. HF is better off sticking to the cricket.
"Is that really the team or is someone taking the piss?". "Why haven't we sold Parker?" What is Upson doing out there - he's injured for the rest of the season".
Anway a great performance. The back 4 and the 3 central midfieders (especially Parker) were superb.
The same again against Stoke and we will have a great chance of beating the drop.
Fred,
ReplyDeleteI wanted Cole to start! He's a menace. I'm gonna send him a tweet in a minute to let the big fella know we're behind him.
You have to agree though that Hitz needs to be taking the direct free-kicks surely?! We had one today and it was even suited to the left footer but Mr Noble had to take it and waste it. When was the last time he scored from a free-kick anyway? So how can he be our free-kick specialist. We have Hitz for goodness sake. Noble needs to stop being so proud and let the better man do the job. Even Bridge has better technique than him. Set pieces are important for a team in our position, We cant waste them like we do.

Cricket didnt turn out so bad after all. Did you see it? It was a tie, can you believe. Should have kept Bopara. Would have had a better chance of getting over the line.
Parker was immense. My man of the match. We should see this result as a big bonus.
i half agree with you on the noble free kick situation i think when hes crossing them from the right side he is the best option but direct shooting free kicks no matter what side should be Hitz but them three as a center mid partnership definitley clicked
ReplyDelete...I'm working on your other half Fred...
ReplyDeletehaha staniwe just havent got anybody else to take them from thtat side remember then few eeks noble was out injured well we didnt even have anybod who could put the ball in the box
ReplyDeleteO'Neil's delivery is not bad when he plays. He doesnt get the chance though Fred. Also, Obinna uses both feet so hopefully when he's back.
ReplyDeletemmmm maybe but are you willing to admit hitz noble and parker seemed to click perfectly as the midfield 3
ReplyDeleteFirst full game Fred. Will have to watch them for longer I'm afraid.
