Well done to Dave in Gloucester, who in response to my "credit where credit is due" article has compiled a league table based on results since Christmas. I can't personally verify that the table is correct - I have to work for a living - but I'm trusting that Dave has done his sums properly. It makes interesting reading!
1 Arsenal W7,D5, L0, GD+15, Pts 26
2. Man Utd : W8,D1, L3, GD+12, Pts 25
3. Chelsea : W7,D2, L3, GD+10, Pts 23
4. Liverpool : W7,D2, L3, GD+7, Pts 23
5. Spurs W6,D4, L2, GD+4, Pts 22
6. Manc City : W6,D3, L3, GD+9, Pts 21
7. Everton : W6,D3, L3, GD+3, Pts 21
8. Fulham : W5,D4, L3, GD+6, Pts 19
9. West Ham : W5,D4, L3, GD+2, Pts 19
10. Wolves : W5,D2, L5, GD-1, Pts 17
11. N’castle : W3,D5, L4, GD 0, Pts 14
12. Bolton : W4,D2, L6, GD-4, Pts 14
13. Stoke: W4,D1, L7, GD+3, Pts 13
14. Villa : W3,D4, L5, GD-4, Pts 13
15. Wigan : W3,D4, L5, GD-8, Pts 13
16. W Brom : W2,D6, L4, GD-8, Pts 12
17. Birmingham: W3,D3, L6, GD-11, Pts 12
18. Blackburn: W3,D2, L7, GD-7, Pts 11
19. S’d’land : W3,D2, L7, GD-7, Pts11
20. B’pool : W2,D2, L8, GD-11, Pts 8
I think that makes Blackpool, Blackburn and Birmingham favourites for the drop! Everybody was talking the three Ws, now it might be the three Bs!
But as they say in the financial services ads, past performance is no guarantee of what will happen in the future. Especially in this craziest of seasons!
You really work for a living? Doing what?
ReplyDeleteJournalist for the Daily Mail.
ReplyDeletehahaha - you wish! way too high brow.
ReplyDeleteYou work for the Daily Mail - well, there's a coincidence! Do give my regards to that nice Mr Dacre, he's a real gent. But you're all such wonderful people, aren't you? That's why I'm the gal who puts the paper to bed!
ReplyDeleteScott Tracey works for the Daily Mail? I'm off to GS342014 where atmospheric conditions make it impossible for your blood to boil International rescue now known as International no fly zone
ReplyDeleteWhy all the haters?
ReplyDeleteGive the guy a break.
Keep up the good work Hammersfan.
OK HF, where did you get that photo of my wife?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though, I need to clarify that this table is based (solely) on the LAST 12 results of every team since (roughly) Christmas. To be technical a couple of the teams, in there, have actually played one game 'more or less' than the '12' since Christmas, but to get a true picture of form you need to show a 'constant' and the last 12 games is 'as near as' to show a true picture!
Facts speak for themselves! This table shows that Avram Grant has certainly turned things around during this period of time and everything seems to be pointing to us being able to maintain this. Just remember that without the 3-0 reversal against Arsenal we could possibly be sitting in 5th (no-one can really hold Avram, or the lads, completely responsible for the result that day, not under those circumstances). Also remember that he got Zola's West Ham, not 'Barcelona' or 'Real Madrid'. Apart from maintaining dignity & calmness under extreme, adverse conditions; he has rebuilt our squad and got us playing the type of football that any Hammers fan 'past' or 'present' can be proud of. Success is based on results! ERGO Avram Grant, at this point, can only be viewed as a success! Forget the past! Don't worry about the future; everything that can be done is being done! Just get behind the team AND the manager!
CoyOLYMPIANirons! The future is looking bright (ALMOST)
By the way, HF, I'm sure your remark regarding 'work' wasn't implying that I don't work? Just remember that "to ASSUME anything sometimes makes an ASS of U and ME!" Anyway if no offence was intended; none taken. This is something I do in my spare time because I'm fed up of certain biased, self proclaimed, 'expert' TV pundits 'spurting crap' and quoting 'facts' out of context in an attempt to try and 'belittle' our beloved HAMMERS!
