Scott Parker Fit For England!
Interesting. Parker hasn't been fit enough to participate properly in our battle for survival, yet magically he is available to join up with the England squad for the game against Switzerland.
Anybody think that's strange? Anybody see a link between Parker getting that call up for the Wales game and his unavailability for his club subsequently? Anybody think it worrying that it took Gold's intervention to stop Parker playing against Ghana; Parker, it seems was willing to risk aggravating that injury to cement his England place?
Has Super Scotty, Mr West Ham, been looking after himself over the past month, putting his international ambitions above his club duties? If he starts against the Swiss, that's certainly the way it will look to me.
"How do you fancy playing against Wigan Scott?"
"A run out for 25 minutes would be useful to tune me up."
"And the Sunderland game?"
"Wouldn't want to start. But given I have to turn up to collect the award, perhaps I could stretch my legs for 30 minutes, just to prove to Mr Capello that I'm available for selection."
Mr West Ham? Yeah!
You are a ungrateful bastard!
ReplyDeleteAre you talking to me or Parker? He's the one we were paying £80k a week to all season. That's over £4million for playing football and helping us to finish bottom.
ReplyDeleteYou bitch! you'd have made such a good bird.
ReplyDeleteconsidering he damaged his achilles! it would have been pretty remarkable had he been okay to play 90 minutes!! He did well too get minutes.. Englang game is 2 weeks away, of course he'll be able to participate by then!! He played day after his dad died, this bloke would run through walls this season can't say that about others, so lay off you mug!!
ReplyDeleteI know he's "Mr West ham", and certainly contributed more than anyone else to the team, even if it didn't do much good. He was game, and many others weren't. But in spite of that, I've always thought him a limited player, compared to others in the PL. He looked better than he is in West ham's setup, - in a better team he would be just as professional but would look workmanlike as opposed to the 'heart & soul' tag he was lumbered with at WHU. He often made me think of Subbuteo [an old football game] too, for some unknown reason.

ReplyDeleteTomasz Kuszczak!?!?! better than Green? hehehe I'm loving this. You'll be on your knees praying that it's a bad dream
Did you play Subbuteo Gateman? I was a huge fan!
ReplyDeleteSince when has Parker played for 'WALES' then eh?! Get a grip man!
ReplyDeleteI wish he bloody did play for Wales, and not Capello's Clowns?!
Very sexist 1916
ReplyDeleteYes, I had a set in the 50s, played on the kitchen table against my brother usually. Happy hours, funny how something like that was so pleasurable, compared to today's soulless computer 'games'.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the dissent from the clapped out 'gospel' - that
'West Ham Way' cliche is really looking threadbare this century !

Pedant Shaun. Bet you don't make the same distinction when it comes to a sheep and a woman in a knitted cardigan! I've added "the" and "game" to satisfy your desire for absolute accuracy.
ReplyDeleteDid it exist in the fifties? I remember the joy of buying my first West Ham team and the horror when my Mum stepped on Geoff Hurst and snapped him. No amount of bostic ever returned him to normal! Of course, if you bought West Ham now, Dyer would come broken in the box!
ReplyDeleteOne million hits coming up HF. Will there be a prize for visitor number 1 million. 10,000 tickets for the West Ham v Docaster game at the Olympic stadium shoud not cost too much.
ReplyDeleteYou calling me a sheepshagger?! How very original?.....Doh!!
ReplyDeleteWe might shag 'em mate, but you lot still feckin' eat 'em!!..... some (man) mayo with your lamb Sir?
LOL 2020, true, very true. Kids for a quid, pensioners for 50p, and idiots for free.
ReplyDeleteShaun, as if! I assumed you would prefer the old woman in the cardigan. I only eat New Zealand lamb by the way, just in case!
ReplyDeleteI think Subbuteo was going even before I was a kid - this was not the 3-d version like you had, but the flat plastic version that I had. It was a Christmas present, must have been around 1954 or 5, cost less than £1, but don't forget people used to earn wages like £5 a week in those days !
ReplyDeleteThey must have changed to the 3-d figures in the 60s. They had the claret shirt and blue sleeves, the same for WHU, Burnley, Villa....

I loved saving up for a new team. Bradford City were great in those days. Yellow with red stripes from memory. Had QPR for the hoops and Yeovil, my home town team. Arsenal of course, Chelsea and Leeds. Great memories!
ReplyDeleteJust to add to the nostalgia, I still have my Subbuteo (in a box in the garage)We got it around 1970 as its the World Cup edition complete with Jules Rimet trophy. It came with England, Germany, Italy and Brazil teams. Of course I got West Ham later.
ReplyDeleteMelbourne Hammer
Think I was about 14 when I saved up my pocket money and purchased the game subbuteo It would have been about 1950 and as far as I can remember the players were cardboard cut outs slotted in to half round lead basis. In those days lead was commonly used in toys! Two years later my first job paid £2.00 a week as an office boy for an insurance company in London Two years after that I was paid £1.28 a week in the air force doing national service
ReplyDelete06:17 that's worth a fortune mate if it's in good nick
