O'Neil Returns! And Lansbury's back too!

I'm not a big fan of Gary O'Neil as a player, but it is great to see the guy is back and playing after that horrific injury against Villa at the fag end of last season. Apparently he is a bit "stiff" at the moment, and that has nothing to do with internet sites he has been visiting, but after over 7 months out, that's hardly surprising! There were rumours that his career might be over so it is great that he has defied the odds thus far. However, as Ashton showed, chickens should not be counted quite yet.

The return of Lansbury is fantastic news. We haven't seen the best of this boy in Claret and Blue yet but performances for the England U21's, and the new contract awarded by Arsenal, suggest that he should be good enough to hold down a regular place in the side.

  1. Good news and well timed too. Henri could add some bite to our attack and who knows how O'Neil will be under Allardyce? Think of Faubert's resurrection.

  2. i am pleased o'neil is back for a few reasons, first its great to see him again after that awful injury, second when we signed him he gave 110% got stuck in and put in a few decent shifts (unlike 80% of our team) and third he can play out wide and give us a bit of width, if matty taylor is injured again this is welcome news. as for lansbury, he is class, probably our best all round midfielder so again great news

  3. I actuay quite like o'neill as player. Mixes good industrialism with a touch of quality. Very good championship player so hopefully he will make a full recovery. Lansbury will be a huge boost for us. I can see Sam playing him at home to help bring some creativity to the team which will help kill teams off. Big fan of his, just hope he we can keep him fit. He had a great season with Norwich. if he can replicate that with us, we stand a massive chance of winning this league, whilst at the same time being easier on the eye

  4. Lansbury isnt as good as most of you make him out to be. But id rather him play when we are at home then away since he doesnt put in and effort to track back or anything. The only reason he signed a new deal was so nobody could get him on a free

  7. Fred, lansbury is up there with the best players we currently have at our disposal. He's a goalscoring midfielder who tackles and has a bit of flair. My only worry is how to fit him in with Nolan, cole and bladock. But that's something for Sam to worry about

  8. Stani, Noble has been one of our best players this year and I just don't think lansbury is that good. Apart from the pompey game he wasn't really doing much when he was fit and goes missing to easily and he NEVER tracks back
