This was coming. We have been getting results whilst playing poorly. So, no surprise that when we did play well in the first half and deservedly took the lead early in the second, that we get sucker punched and end up losing a game. Did Green have a save to make? He retrieved the ball from the net twice but there was nothing else for him to do. Quite how we allowed Burnley to score twice is anybody's guess. First half they sat back and invited us on, second half they thought, "Hang on, this West Ham team aint all that" and got their reward for a little bit of enterprise.
The big question is why the hell Taylor was taken off. Burnley promptly equalised and it was all down hill from there! Dire!
It could be a difficult December! I am at Reading next Saturday and hope we show more composure in front of goal and in defence than we did today!
Bitter, butter, bitter...
ReplyDeletePer espn commentary Taylor was offed cause of injury
ReplyDeleteWhat a flipping joke. Will we now hear Allardyce come out and say 4-5-1 doesnt work like he did about 4-4-2?
ReplyDeleteWhy take your best set piece man off?
I know people say I criticise Noble for no reason, but whoever was listening to the radio today would not have heard his name mentioned for the first 35 minutes of the second half.
Lots of blown chances. Shame as Soton lost also.
ReplyDeletePathetic! Big Sam got it totally wrong when we had the perfect game at home with which to consolidate our away successes. Why indeed change the formation and take Matt out when he was probably the only player who could create something? It is so disappointing. Just when I started thinking that maybe Sam knows what he is doing...
ReplyDeleteStupid seen as you didnt go to the game, taylor was clearly injured which is why he came off. We were much the better team and got unlucky, hit the post twice, only thing i dont understand is why piquionne came on instead of diop.
ReplyDeleteTaylor was holding his thigh and was rightly taken off.
ReplyDeleteNot luck - we gave them two easy goals [Tomkins/Mccartney]. And hit the woodwork way too often at the other end.
ReplyDeleteI am relieved to find out there was a valid reason why Matt Taylor was substituted. Although I hope it is nothing too serious. I would pick Lansbury in the next game.
ReplyDeleteThere is no excuse for the defensive mistakes though.
Stani everybody played poorly and it sounds like your trying to blame Noble for the defeat also taylor is injured. Also noticed Dales player ratings and there quite high somehow apart from cole, green, linda I wouldnt give anybody more then a 5 rating.
ReplyDeleteSo fickle it's a joke our best home display this year with even the likes of collision and Nolan having good all round games. we hit the woodwork twice in the second half , and piqi had one off the line . It was one of them days they happen and will be a timely reminder after a good winning streak not to take the foot off the gas . As for the boos from a muggy minority at full time was a disgrace and shows to the media that west ham are too arrogant for this league falling into they're hands of how they like to show us .
ReplyDeleteWell you can say he along with Piqu were to blame for the first goal Fred.
ReplyDeleteWatch just before Stanislas gets the ball on the right. No one is out closing and Noble in the area, marking no one along with Piqu, throws up his arms as if to say 'who is closing?'. He then tries to run out with Piqu at snail's pace but decides to stand off allowing the ball to be crossed. Why these players are afraid of taking the ball on the body I do not know?!
When the goal goes in, keep watching in the area, where captain Nolan then turns to both of them gesticulating that they should have closed better.
Basics.
Rome wasn't built in a day and when it was built, it had it's teething problems, we have undergone a major squad reconstruction and brought in senior pro's to do a job, a job they are working hard at. What do some fans expect ? Sam has to go with what he has got and plan his tactics accordingly to who he has available ... those thinking we have a premiership side need to wake up, days like yesterday are going to happen, Carew, Piquionne and Cole are just not consistant enough and thats a problem Sam is having to deal with this and in doing so has us sitting second in the league.
ReplyDeleteSo my message to those that boo players after two minutes is to 'get a life', we have no money, we are losing money every week by having the players the board are funding to get us promoted. Upton Park is our own worse enemy because of the boo boys ... take a leaf out of the traveling armies support and stop labeling us the new generation of spuds fans, fickle, clueless and sad ...
Yesterday was just one of those days that happen in our situation ... we only have Matty Taylor to play wide left which doesn't help, our forwards are inconsistent without Sam Baldock but are scoring goals as a collective and our defence is one of the best in the league so far ... there is enough to be positive about ...
