On yours marks, get set....sign anybody!

One month. One bloody month. So what do they do? They wait until the last two days. If the conduct of clubs like West Ham and QPR in the transfer window is not a definition of business madness, then tell me what is!

I know those in the know will say, "That's how it works." I know excuses will be made about clubs holding out for the best price. I know people will claim that you need one deal to oil the wheels of all the others, one big money move that starts a chain reaction. But it is all a load of cobblers when you look at the madness of the crazy rush that happens in the last 24 hours.

Tell me, how are considered judgements made in that last 24 hour scramble? What about player fitness? How do clubs assess the motivation of players they are scrambling to purchase? What sort of questions are asked in those final crazy hours? Can he still walk? Does he have a passport?

Madness. Sheer bloody madness.

  1. To be fair, it's not that easy to get quality players during the january transfer window for a decent price. No club wants to give away their best players during the season, except the other party is eager to get them so desperately and pays silly money for them. Of course there also opportunities to bring in players who are out of contract or aren't in the first team picture at their club, but do we need an average player who doesn't really enchance our performances on the pitch and could be a second Kieron Dyer ? I know it sucks we couldn't find a backup for Matty Taylor yet but I'd rather want to see one of our academy players on the field than somebody who is already past his prime.

  3. Your team is not even in the same league as QPR, jealousy is a terrible thing! I bet even if you went to a match you'd sing on your own!

  5. Agree HF and you provided the reasons why the last 24hrs are when majority of deals are done. I can say for once that us Rs are actually trying our best not to with two in already and samba diakite on route to loftus rd for a medical. Still think we will be tryin for two more on Tuesday and no doubt I will be glued to sky sports who turn it into a transfer circus trying to make small moves into the biggest news while they wait for someting of significance to happen. Always laugh that they always have that scottish lad, name escapes me, who tries desperately to make big news out of nothing, cringe worthy at times. Only roughly 35m spent to date with 9m going to the newcastle player is pretty quiet by previous standards so no doubt the next 48 hrs will be an entertaining scramble for players as you said will have little or no research done on them and therefore probably failed transfers.

  6. Ah this must be the'HAMMERSFAN' I have heard about!
I was told he talks a load of rubbish and that looks to be pretty accurate.
Perhaps he should find a club to manage so that he can show us all how it's done!!

  7. I hear you HF but please list the transfers so far this window & we'll see what other championship club has brought players we want. Players as well as clubs will hang on till the end of the window just to make sure no other/better offers come along. Its the same every window. I dont understand why people get so mad about it.

  8. To be fair he has a point but it has more to do with the owners than actually 'trying' to sign somebody. This month has been a complete joke so far, they have said we will strengthen but are going for players we have no chance of getting and'stating' we have made bids for certain players but when it comes to crunch have not put the money up, if you want somebody that bad put your money where your mouth is. It has been the same with them for last two january windows, all talk no action, all deals done on deadline day, and with the exception of demba ba, all shocking and desperate buys, mido, ilan, mccarthy, keane, o'neil,

  9. 17.30 - make you right. Sullivan-Gold
are a couple of bullcrappers, all talk and at the end of the day, crap buys. Anyone good - Demba for ex - they have a get-out clause. But WHU themselves - the 'Academy' etc. Not producing much these days is it ? And way too many 'supporters' are blind to the crap football that's been played for most of the last decade - with very FEW bright spots. And if you mention it, all the chumps start accusing you of being a Spurs fan, or a plastic, or whatever......face it, WHU ain't what it was - in the 60s and 70s.

  12. QPR fan here just saying that I enjoy your comments even if they sometimes slag off my team.

I agree that the game's gone crazy and we've had more than our fair share over the last few years. At the moment I am still pro-Fernandes and hope you are wrong about his intentions. I'm frustrated at the way the transfer window has gone so far and I'm still hoping for one or two signings in the next 2 days to help us stay up.

I daresay that some of my fellow R's will think that you are posting this yourself. But you know that you didn't.

Good luck for the rest of the season to both our teams!

  13. Can't you QPR fans read? The article is about both West Ham and QPR and every other team desperate for new recruits!

  14. Absolutely no point filling our squad with more journeymen and players who are not premiership standard. Save whatever money we have until the summer.

same old west ham promises promises and more promises yet nothing, we still have poor quality strikers, and no one wants to come to us, was this what happened at Birmingham, hope not.

  19. you make some good points ,but i am puzzled as to why you are always going on about QPR ???
Is it the fernandez connection ?
Survival in the prem is always the priority for newly promoted teams and we will do the same next year if we have to .
