Three's Company: Jelavic, Maynard and A. N. Other before window slams closed.

It's getting tight to the wire, but expect West Ham to sign three before the window closes. Rhodes is the preferred option but it's looking as if Huddersfield won't let him go. One for the summer, perhaps, if we get up, although Rodallega might be a better option for the Prem - and cheaper!

So expect Jelavic and Maynard to join, with somebody else coming in on loan. Sears will go out on loan, and with luck Piquionne too.

This is a last throw of the dice to try to secure promotion.

  1. We are not signing jelavic. He wanted us to double is wages. Gollivan stood firm

  2. He will back down. A 25% increase and the opportunity to play in England will swing it. Watch.

  3. Why is everyone going on about us needing strikers? Our strikers are not great admitedly but they are made to look terrible with the service they get. We so desperately need wingers and nobody seems to have noticed that. The last game we played we had 4 central midfielders in midfield and we just smashed the ball up to Cole and expected him to score a hat-trick. Even if we had Messi he couldn't do anything with that kind of service. Strikers are their to finish of chances midfielders are supposed to create the chances. If the midfielders don't do that then you can have whoever you want up front and they aren't going to look good. How do you guys not see this key problem?

  4. I dont think so, HF. The Times are reporting that Evertons bd has been accepted despit being lower than ours. He thinks he is EPL material. We shall see.

I can see Maynard as the last resort.

Kia Joorabchian has been on Twitter a lot saying odd things, by the way. Probably taking the piss on everyone. Latest is that Tevez wants a loan deal to Corinthians before a permanent sale to Milan.

    Whatever.

23:49 - No chance of getting guzumped on Jelavic then HF, perhaps by QPR?

I wonder if something might just happen with Tevez. That would be some story. His salary will be massive but so will the extra ticket and shirt sales. More importantly he would be the best bet to give everyone an extra lift, and to make the difference in getting us back to the Premier league. £250k a week or say £3m to the end of the season might not be such a high price to pay? Man City may cut a deal to keep him out of Mancini's way anyway. Watch.

  6. Hopefully we won't see jelavic in claret and blue as I don't think he'll cut the mustard, he's playing against the equivalent of league two and considering how many of his goals are from the spot his goal return isn't that good against the fee that is being touted for him. Rhodes would be a revelation when you look at the chances we are creating, Maynard I think would be a good signing, he's been off the boil lately but he's playing in a poor city side. Having said that I imagine we'll most likely get noone!

  7. i hope your right hf, in the sense i hope we sign him and hope he's a great addition to the team, in our hope of staying in the top 2 and the hope of staying in the prem once we are there. wow, that word "hope"....

  8. Anony-mouse says,

After Moyes's intervention yesterday it looks as if Jelavic will be off to Goodison. I hope so. Maynard's attitude has been appalling lately so I'll reserve judgement on that one. Of the two, I can see Maynard coming in. He wants to play in the Prem and will look at our position and have the arrogance/ self belief that he can secure us promotion.

No one has come in for Sears since the window opened so he's unlikely to go, as is Piquionne whose £38K a week means that you'd have to dig him out of UP with a shovel, before he'd leave us before his contract runs out.

I know what Johntan's saying- we do need better service to the striker(s). Unless it looks like Matty Taylor is definitely fit and raring to go that should be our main priority. However we do also need a striker. I like Cole and Baldock, but the former doesn't score enough and the latter's season has been too interupted to guarantee that he will consistently play between now and the end of April.

In a tight league an extra half a dozen goals, over and above what we are on target to score, would make all the difference to going up.

Can't agree with that. We're winning the league without playing that well or getting out of 2nd gear.

    This league really is rubbish.

  11. If you want a really good laff, check ot Toryboy Dale's site and their 'transfer rumour' threads. First they had Tevez coming, then the Croat Jelavic, then they were talking about Nth-rate Championship.1 strikers like Sharp [gone to Soton] and Maynard. Talk about desperate, but it's good for a laugh. They certainly rate themselves over there, whereas in reality, they are a load of lon-winded puffed-up sanctimonious gasbags. Tories - don't you just love 'em [NO]
