What a shame. Two goals up, Villa playing like drains, Cisse boosted by a fabulous opening goal - QPR were all set to launch their charge to safety. Then, second half, it all went wrong.
Mind you, a point at Villa Park is not to be sniffed at, and with Wolves hammered by Liverpool and Blackburn going down at home, the one point secured could prove to be gold dust come the end of the season.
That defence still needs sorting, of course. Taiwodee and TweedleNedumber both made their debuts but goal shy Villa still managed to put two in the onion bag. That must be a worry for Hughes, and it is too late to go shopping now. Look at the QPR subs bench and it doesn't scream quality. Of course Zamora will improve things and so will the new African, but neither will improve things at the back.
When Rangers were linked with Tomkins, I said he was the wrong player for the circumstances and the same applies to Nedum. Alex would have fitted the bill but he was never going to join. What is needed at the back is a leader, somebody to captain the defence, a rock, a no nonsense, hit them hard, out and out defender. Is that Nedum? I don't think so.
Hughes has done a brilliant job in bolstering the attack, and you have to score goals to stay in the Prem. But you also have to be able to hold on to a lead too and the game at Villa points, perhaps, to the Achilles heel. Ferdinand and Nedum as a pairing? It doesn't inspire confidence. Better than Ferdinand and Gabbidon, unquestionably, but not exactly the Aswan Dam when in comes to holding back a flood!
The Wolves game is, of course, huge. Both teams are far stronger going forward than they are at keeping the opposition in check. Two seasons back, Wolves came to Upton Park for a six pointer and wiped the floor with us, running out 3-1 winners. My money was on West Ham that night but I sat in the Bobby Moore Upper watching us play like eleven Midos and saw Wolves in gold performing like Brazilians. My money is again on Wolves to lose at the weekend, but then I had a fiver on QPR to win the Cup! Basically, with my track record, the gRs should be encouraging me to back Wolves!
The trouble is, I really like Zammo, so I am now desperate for QPR to win and stay up!
i come to this site 4 all my QPR news and info now :) u Rsss
ReplyDeleteWell your little peace offering didn't last long did it. Were going to stay up, I'm confident. Cisse looked dangerous and alright come the end was knackered but him and Zamoro up top will score goals and give defences problems. We also have Taarabt and Traoare coming back and the new defensive midfielder. On paper our squad's starting to look pretty strong compared to those around us. A draw away to Villa isn't a bad result. You could say we were lucky to get the point yet a few weeks back we were unlucky to get nothing and I know which I prefer! I used to get the hump reading this crud, yet now its a little pathetic and laughable. You'd think when you're proved wrong you'd pipe down a little but like a dog with a bone you pipe up and have a little dig at something else (until again, you are proved wrong) and so on and soon on. Its a compliment really, A few years back no one apart from fans wrote any articles about us. Now people can't stop!
ReplyDeleteThis is meant to be a West Ham site. My Newsnow feed has been littered with QPR articles for months now. Both QPR and West Ham fans are equally bored of your nonsense.
ReplyDeleteHave you read beyond the headline guys?

How is this an attack on QPR exactly?
Fair comments hf trouble is its going to take feb for us to gel and times not on our side I hear your comments about nedum but I still think he is a great buy he is a good defender but needs a few more seasons to become a commander never really rated alix would have loved to have got samba though shame about the villa game seen as we were 2 up but a point at villa park is still a good point for us I would love to give it the large and tell u we are going to bash wolves up but truths betold I think there will be a lot of nervous rangers fans at the week end let's just hope the rangers and the hammers are celebrating 3 points because it dosent get any bigger than that game for you ether mate
ReplyDeleteIt's meant to be a West Ham blog so whether the articles about QPR are positive or negative is irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteH.f just wondering exactly how many times you have actually watched nedum to reach your "informed" opinion that he's not a "leader",seems like you were wrong about tony not spending more than £5 mil lets hope your wrong again!!!
ReplyDeleteWell you were sure vindicated in your long running campaign to prove Fernandes is all talk and no trousers, and that West Ham had a lucky escape. Certainly at Loftus Rd we were really disappointed by the transfer window. I mean, where was the board's chequebook? What with only Zamora and Cisse to bolster the attack, the lad from AC Milan and the Man City defender as well as the Mali midfielder Wenger's been desperate for. Oh, and the Man Utd striker as 6th reserve. Yep, Fernandes has been a real let down, leading us up the garden path, just as you have been warning us so astutely for months. I must say I'm really surprised you haven't made a seperate blog post on this just to show off your presience but I guess your silence just shows what a modest chap you are...
ReplyDeleteU shud post more about west ham or change the name of the site!!
ReplyDeleteI think you'll find HF has indeed written a QPR humble pie article
ReplyDeleteAnony-mouse says,
ReplyDeleteAll my fellow anonymice as HF refers to us- this is not a West Ham site- we all know that. That's why so few Irons bother with it or make comments on its musings. His QPR ones get far more traffic nowadays so he'll keep on irritating/patronising/ sucking up to them/ depending on their results and his mood instead. Which suits me fine cos it means he's got less time to write drivel about us.
KUMB and WHTID are the proper West ham sites and were the only places you needed on deadline day. Keep the faith. COYI!
Bored of you now mate you used to be half enjoyable with some posts but looks like your clutching at straws now with this shite.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your west ham/QPR message board I would be more worried if my team could bounce back after getting a hammering! From a really poor Ipswich side, Birmingham coming up strong look over your shoulder.......
Maynard a good signing hope you stop Cardiff from joining us in the Prem next year....
HF.
ReplyDeleteYou have this time not written a bad article and it is pretty much middle of the vroad as opposed to negative or positive but there is one question i need clarifying you have not recently been known as hitman on another site have you.lol
Why dont you just do one mate and worry about your own team defence. We're in the prem and your not and we're enjoying every moment. With sparky and the new arrivals we're going to be a prem team at the end of this year and many more to come!! Why don't you wright about WH and enjoy that? You boar the arse off me with you articals so do me a favour and all the super hoops (prem fans) a favour and do one. Cheers bud YOU Rssssss
ReplyDeleteu should mention how many players were missing and that the new guys that came in have not playedd a full game for a while . Missing was Tarabt,Triora,DJ,Helgerson,Buzakiy,Bothroy,Zamora. we still got a point. i would say not bad we got the draw.
ReplyDeletecome on HF im sure you can be a little more positive, Hughes has got us 4 points out of 6 ,not bad for a start,a win against Wolves will be 7 out of 9,Slate us if we dont win on saturday. But if we win i want u to see the best blog for QPR Please.Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHF , you know how much Sh#t we have been thorugh the past 16 years, cut us some slack, there are to many QPR haters out there now, they didnt careless about us years ago.If your a true Football fan you will give us the benefit of the doubt. Thats all i have to say , Think about it.
ReplyDeleteEven you own fans are getting fed up with you talking about qpr.
ReplyDeleteyour top picture is wrong, we are at home on saturday QPR should be on the left, Bell!!
ReplyDelete2213, I know but that was the only picture I could find featuring the two badges.
ReplyDelete2157, none of those will strengthen you at the back will they?
2209, no QPR hating here. Why can't you see the balance that 2133 acknowledges?
2133, I am not "hitman"
Hammersfan
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why some of my fellow R's fans are so upset by your blog. It seems to me that you have a soft spot for the Hoops and you're certainly entitled to write what you think.
I enjoy the read even if I don't agree with everything you say. On this occasion we did blow two points - how else can you describe losing a 2-goal lead against a team who haven't won at home in a while.
Keep it up.
18.10. Bet thats hammersfan pretending to be someone else..
