West Ham v Millwall - Just Another Game!

So what? It's just another game. A game between two average teams playing average football. Perspective is needed. The points are important to both teams, but the points were just as important in midweek and will be just as important in the next game.

The media is trying to suggest something different of course. And so are the message boards. And there will be those who drag their knuckles along the ground when they walk who believe all that crap in Green Street. But I like Danny Baker, and he's the only Millwall fan I "know" and I'm sure 95% of them are decent people, like 95% of our fans.

How I hope that both sets of fans conduct themselves decently, spoiling the day for News International, who, like the agent provocateurs in Egypt, would love a bloodbath. The eyes of the world are focused on the Boleyn. Let's show them how football is played for a change!

And let's pray, after Tuesday, that Allardyce picks the new boys!

My preferred team:

Green

O'Brien (or Demel) Faye, Tomkins, Taylor

Collison         Noble

Nolan

Morrison                               Vaz Te

Maynard

  1. Wow, an actual decent and sensible post from Hammers fan ( although I still begrudge calling him that as I'm sure he's not). A little bit nervous of some repercussions of your post condoning racism? Trying to get a few back on side?

  3. Rather go 4-4-2 with collison and Noble in the middle vaz te and taylor on the wings and baldock and maynard up front. Faye and tomkins must be the center back partnership today

  6. Anony-mouse says,

If you can't get up for this game HF it really is time you just called it quits and found another sport to 'grace' with your opinions. I've said before that football and West ham gives you no joy- so pack it in and do the rest of us a favour.

  7. Just saw the team sheet:

Green, O'Brien, McCartney, Faye, Reid, Tomkins, Noble, Nolan, Collison, Cole, Faubert

Substitutes: Baldock, O'Neil, Taylor, Vaz Te, Maynard

Don't fancy this much. 5 defenders at home against an opponent that we should be looking to score 2 or 3 against... Still, plenty of attacking options on the bench. But no goal keeper...

  8. and what a defensive and narrow lineup we have today! why buy width and pace when you dont use it?

  10. Dear God! As you're so fond of saying. It might have been better if the OS had kept to the original plan and published the team sheet at 2pm. Three centre backs and no debuts, I feel obliged to watch but I'm not looking forward to it

  14. When's the penny going to drop? We looked a better side with ten men and no Nolan than we have recently when he plays.

Tomkins did well in midfield but if he has to play there because Diop is injured, shouldn't we have addressed this during the transfer window?

I always felt we were unlucky over the years as a club but my got we're balancing the books this year, our second goal was beautifully struck but it should have been disallowed.

Overall well done today, Noble was immense but the best news is that Nolan will be banned for three games; a chance to play a system that suits the players we have.
