It's looking more and more like a three horse race. Blackpool are out of it after another defeat tonight and Birmingham are going to choke under the sheer pressure of games. Reading were less than convincing tonight but picked up yet another three points. That's 21 from 21 now - terrifying! Middlesbrough are hanging on but aren't good enough.
Happily, Ipswich did us a huge favour. Victory tomorrow would see us go top with a game in hand. But we don't have the greatest of records at home to Watford as Alan Curbishley might remember!

ReplyDeleteYou crack me up HF. A couple of weeks ago you were banging on that statistically it was unlikely that Reading could overtake us. My point then was that their run could continue. It can and has happened before. Since then they have won three more games on the bounce.
But don't panic HF- their next four don't look hard but their last eight games are tough, tough, tough. We have a good team and a good manager. I'm not saying we'll definitely win tomorrow, but this side do not come across as chokers. So even if we drop points we have a habit of following it up with good results.
So don't be terrified HF. Start showing some faith in Sam and the lads. Of course we will drop points, and unexpected points at that. But so will the others.
I suspect Southampton will be the team more worried after Reading's result tonight. Their place in the top two hasn't been challenged all season. Let's see how they react now that it finally is.
Good point well made. If it can happen - statistically - then it probably will. Its never over until its over. I remember last season always thinking that we only needed a couple of wins to stave off relegation, plotting which games we SHOULD win...but it never happened sadly. The manager/team let us all down and Scott Parker stopped playing as he wanted out anyway. Funny no other team came in for him (that i'm aware of). Going down may be the best thing to have happened - if we get straight back up of course. Big Sam is a good manager - and i'm sure DS/DG will give him the time he'll need to build a Prem side should we get promoted (been a fan too long to be too over confident i'm afraid). COYI's 3 points tonight please
ReplyDeleteReading will over boil Hf
ReplyDeleteMouse is right, HF. And the thing about a long winning streak is that when it ends, and it will end, how do you respond? Reading have not tasted defeat in a long time, and when they do they had better win again straight away because if they dont the bubble could burst.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that the Saints could be more nervous now than us, especially if we win.
