Were you watching Barcelona, Southampton?

Just goes to show what a crazy game football is. When Chelsea went down to ten men and fell two goals behind, against the greatest club side in the world, in the most intimidating stadium in the world, there was only going to be one winner wasn't there? No first choice centre backs, captain sent off...what hope did Chelsea stand?

So, all the cocky Saints fans thinking promotion is a forgone conclusion might just like to reflect. Lose to Coventry at home? Well if Barcelona can lose a two goal lead at home to ten man Chelsea, anything can happen.

Sleep well all you Saints; it may not happen!

  1. Well to be honest I am a Saints fan & we take nothing for granted, therefore Saints need to do their job right on Saturday & forget about others or the Barca match which as you can say was just crazy. I would have liked to see Saints & WH go up but Reading spoiled the party! If Saints do not go up on Saturday, then we will only have ourselves to blame & ultimately would not deserve to get automatically promoted. So to be honest I hope Saints finish the job we have been doing all season [top 2] & that WH make it via the play offs COYRs

  2. do you REALLY think with your shit, negative, evil, hated manager DarthAllardyce, that you're really going to actually get into the automatic places by default (ie NOT because of anything your crap team has done) then you really are SO deluded, and reading all your posts throughout the season, none of you believed this before the last fortnight. Shame on you guys. And no, we're not arrogant Saints fans, we're just hanging in there, and as a result of posts like this, we'll be delighted when Blackpool knock you out of the playoffs. Hope you really enjoy hanging on the result from St Mary's saturday (ooh and that Hull don't rain on your parade!) because youve had such a crap season. Much love xxx

  4. Cocky saints fans????? Keep up with the mind games.... like they are going to work...do you all think you are Sir Alex Ferguson or something.

  5. Chelsea had an incentive. Coventry have none
Chelsea had a manager who could motivate
    West Ham hasn't
Comparing Southampton with Barca is plain silly
Comparing the blues of Chelsea (who are in tremendous form BTW) with the sky blues of Coventry (who are in dire form BTW)is plain stupid.

  6. iswhite10 is bit of a plonker - I thought we'd finish 7th. in time-honoured wh fashion. As for the saints, I couldn't care less where they finish, though they have found a few decent players over the last few years. we may go up via playoffs, but I wouldn't bank on it. and if we do, will the owners get any pl-quality players in ? big questions. and as for allaedyce, he's done alright. the players should have won more games, but they didn't, and that is down to them, considering they are on the pitch and in front of goal and missing time after time.
so iswhite, carry on being a 'berkeley hunt' as we say round these parts.

  7. I live in Southampton and it's so easy to tell the difference between Saints fans and the sudden thousands that clamber aboard the gravy train iswhite10 have you ever been to a match (other yhan a cup final) you see if you were a football fan you'd be able to tell what banter is and not be quite such a prick in the future

  8. Thanks for the comparison ..... Barca are like Saints ..... yes, I like that.

It's a bit like saying West Ham are like, um, off the top of my head, the 1980s Wimbledon.

    Give my love to Cardiff.

  9. Watching all three teams whu, Southampton and reading, being a west ham fan I'll start with them, we do not deserve automatic however we are by far the strongest in the play offs abit of good form going into the play offs will help, with the saints I went to both games against us, at your ground we didn't turn up scored from a corner due to poor marking and da Pardo and connelly should have made it more, at west ham we battered you Taylor shouldn't of acted so stupidly and i feel we would of gone on to win by 3 or 4, however watching a lot of you this season I feel that your tactics are Sam Alladycesk LONG BALL, when your full backs get the ball they look to pick out lambert and it was worked however next season it won't you haven't got good enough players and coming up against better centre halves lambert won't be half the player he is, finally reading we lost 3-0 with 9 men and 4-2 god knows how that 4th goal was allowed so offside but there you go, to be fair to reading they have deserved it they won 13 or whatever so fair play but let's be honest Jason Roberts wasn't doing it in the prem what makes them think he will next season, I'm afraid to say all 3 teams are not good enough, players will have to be bought in by all the clubs if they were to go up, whufc probably have the potential of getting better players, reading will spend big with their new owners and Southampton will go down bottom I think

  10. Are you trying to piss every Southampton fan off? Your concentrating too much on us, your articles should be about your next game rather than talking about us possibly falling short, some pressure is on you but ofc some more is on us, we shall see who handles it better

  11. West Ham are shit, they wont even make it to Wembley.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sorry, are you assuming that you are going to beat Hull? If so, how is that better than Southampton thinking they will beat Cov?

    ReplyDelete
  13. So you think if they go up saints will finish bottom next season. Ha ha ha shows what you know, Saints are in the middle of a 5 year plan to get back to the premier, we have billionaire owners who are this season spending 15 million taking our already fantastic youth academy and training ground to an even higher level. What have West Ham got to look forward to? Watch as saints go from strength to strength, with no debts!!, and think back to your comments and cry yourself to sleep thinking about your 'manager' 'owners' and big headed players. LOL COYR

  14. Have you forgotten there's the small matter of West Ham beating Hull on Saturday. Confident about that are you? You HAVE to win - and with your bottling home record that's a bit iffy. Saints might only need a draw. High Pressure heading for East London!

  15. I agree mostly with the artitcle execpt that I dont think Saints fans are taking anything for granted unlike Sir Tevor Brooking and the Olympic Stadim Saga :)

Oh Saints compared to Barca..nah mate..Adam Lallana makes messi look shite!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree with the majority of the blog nothing can be taken for granted although I would rather be playing Cov than Hull.

Saints fans are in no way cocky, we aren’t in a position to be.

Oh and Saints being compared to Barca is ridiculous Adam Lallana make messi look shite

  17. I agree that all three clubs will have to strengthen if promoted. I’m not sure what it is about West Ham which makes anon think that they have the potential to get better players over Reading or Southampton, that strikes me as arrogant. Money and buying in players doesn’t guarantee Premiership survival, look at QPR, and Southampton have done really well in the Championship without making significant changes to the team which achieved promotion from League One last year. Southampton have the fifth richest owner in English football, have barely touched the £15m received for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and they are already being linked with a £7m move for Gary Hooper.

  18. I don’t think you will find many more COCKY Southampton fans than West Ham fans,
Being on TV has also added to this has put many saints fans in a bad way due to the “Coverage Curse”. Southampton deserve promotion more than west ham with regard to their ability to stay in the top 2 all season. That does not entitle the right but it’s theirs to lose! Big Sam also thinks he’s god’s gift which also makes me hope they do not get promoted.

  19. Time will tell where all the pressure is. You wet spam fans call us cockey, that's taking the pi$$. Every team that goes up to the premiership has to strenghten their team , that's not rocket science is it???. Your side is not good enough to finish second although you might in the playoffs!!!!!!!. Good luck you will need it.

  20. Let's all assume the Hull game is a given, just like the Bristol city game was. I hope Saints lose on Saturday, then you f*ck up because you haven't even thought about Hull

    ReplyDelete
  21. Angry little blighters these Scummers aren't they?
Don't count too much on your billionaire owners Saints the family are looking to offload asap None of them share the vision that Markus Liebherr had

    ReplyDelete
  22. So you know the Liebherrs personally, eh, Deane? Thanks for telling us what they want. And instead of telling us what the future holds for us, perhaps it would be better to concentrate on what will happen to your lot if you fail to gain promotion. I hope that Hull beat you. I looked upon your club with a lot more compassion until you paid the Skates that ludicrous sum of money to loan Henderson and everybody knew that the real reason was to keep them afloat so that 6 points were not deducted from you in the event of their liquidation. So I sincerely hope that you will suffer some retribution as a result.
