£80m for Leeds - Cheap at that price!

When you consider that Sullivan and Gold paid £50m for a share of West Ham, taking on huge debts in the process, Leeds United must surely be a snip at £80m. Look at what you would get for your money!

A tenancy on a stadium and on a training ground. No real estate or land as such but hell, who cares about actual assets, it's all about brand rights isn't it? And there are Yorkshire men out there to milk!

A great history. True the present aint so clever and the future looks a tad dodgy, but never mind all that. As Freud said, "Only a good for nothing is not interested in his past" or as Worden asked, "What should they know of the present who only the present know?" The trophy cabinet may be empty at the moment but the dust rings still show where the trophies once stood.

A squad of players whose combined worth could be anything up to £15m.

Looked at like that, £80m may seem toppy, but if the new owners were to sink somewhere between £50m and £80m in the squad, then promotion to the Prem would be as good as guaranteed and then there may be no stopping the Whites Machine, providing Warnock is no longer the manager because we all know about his record in the top division.

It makes you wonder why LUST are buggering around proposing Club 9 Sports, an outfit that has previously expressed interest in Tranmere Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday.  Don't they understand what the club is really worth? The big question is who, in his right mind, would pass on the opportunity to snap up such a bargain?

In fact you have to wonder why Sullivan and Gold committed to West Ham when they could have had Leeds! Unless, of course, they were attracted to the possibility of redeveloping the Boleyn!

  2. Jealousy? How am I jealous? Is this not a fair assessment? Do you think £80m is a realistic price?

  6. 80 mill is a very very steep price personally, would say between 40-60 at a big push with a clear understanding on the asking price for the ground and stadium. But hey this is bates who lets a 18 goal midfielder leave for 1.5mil so 30 mill cash he might just snap their hands off. MOT

  8. The mail stated £80m, that article was ridiculous and they've since deleted it.
The asking price is around £50m, and it's not club9sport, they've already distanced themselves.

    Do your homework

  10. £80m? no way. Small squad and no assets like you say. £10m for the club and £70m for the badge and history.

The new buyers won't have any debt to pay off . Your not very bright are you son . You don't really know what you are talking about . It's football evrything is over priced . 13. To the Leeds fans who can't put two and two together, this thread isn't just about Leeds, it is questioning the motivation for the purchase of West Ham. Some of us stupid cockerknees don't trust Sullivan and Gold as far as we can throw them!

  16. 1927, the club makes money because you have a small and poor squad who aren't paid much in wages - but you lot turn up week in week out, paying over your unemployment benefit and child benefit and disability benefit money to support them. Tell me, who isn't very bright exactly? Bates is shafting Leeds fans week in week out, and you just drop your pants and point your arses in his direction! Leeds United Supporters Trust? LUTIUTA more like. You can work out what the inititials stand for!

  20. Hammers fan you really are a tool, when was the last time you won a top trophy? I think your a little worried about all this takeover talk because you know that it might not be long before where back up there mixing it with the big boys, all you need to know is that when we come back up it wont be to make the numbers up just like your lot

Hammersfan only blogs about Leeds because his blogs don't get through on news now for West Ham meaning he doesn't get any views.

  31. What are you talking about Wrongy, currently 5th and 7th most hit threads on West Ham News Now. Get your facts right! Not that you have a great track record for doing that! Tories are taking us into that double dip recession as I predicted.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Fair play mate funny in parts but truth is and we all know it..it will take a lot less than 80 mill to secure a truly fantastic club with fan's that are so passionate and loyal. Remember our day out at your manor last season..we took over as usual and last minute goal..one of many you conceded at Upton Park...was worth the train fare alone MOT

    ReplyDelete
  33. It is just so sad that a West Ham supporter has to spend so much time devoted to Leeds United? Believe me, there are NO West Ham postings on the Leeds United sites....

...what does that tell you mate?

We have our own team to support, obvioulsy you'd prefer to support ours too by the sounds of it?

Maybe you only mention Leeds United because we are the only people who read this crap, and we only do that because it appears on 'News Now' we certainly don't come looking for it.....

    ReplyDelete
  34. No denying that Leeds fans are "in the style of" Revie's team, MOT, brilliant but bloody nasty!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Leeds United IS worth 80million, purely because of its fan base, both in the UK and Internationally. This brings both power and value to a club, you would know all about this if West Ham's fan base was nearly as great as ours.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hahahaha. Briliant article. YEas, basically some chairmen are after the 'property' aspect and squeezing dollar out of our clubs.
Sorry that some Leeds fans can't see the humour in your pages and have to resort to such base reposts (I am a Leeds fan with a sense of humour!). I quite like your writing style. Up the Whites and the Irons both. Good luck next season. Keep em coming!

  37. Rather than get on my tits i'm starting to weirdly enjoy Hammersfans daily blog about Leeds.

I'm not sure if the reason he writes so much about us is due to his hatred of Leeds or he's a closet Leeds fan who just needs to come out!

As they say...love and hate are so closely linked they are hard to tell apart at times!

Can't wait for the next instalment.

MOT Hammersfans....you're Leeds and you know you are!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Squad is worth £8mill with Snodgrass accounting for £3 million of that. Apparently no property assets although why Bartes would redevelop a ground owned by someone else makes no sense unless he does own the ground or the idea is to buy both it and the training ground. Lets say £25 mill needed to purchase both. £8 Mill needed to build a championship side capable of promotion - so we are edging up towards £50 million investment of which Bates might get £10 mill to walk away.

that's funny, I'm trawling through newsnow, desperately trying to find one of your oh so well written blogs, and can't seem to find one. What a shame! But if I go on QPR or Leeds... hmm maybe that's why you blog so much about them... and as for the tories, they've inherited all the sh't from the last government, and it's the world economy that's the problem which you can blame the banks for...

    ReplyDelete
  42. You're not trawling very well then! Try again! So the Tories can use the excuse of the world economy but Labout can't? Interesting. Funnily enough, we were coming out of recession under Labour, the Tories strangled the recovery at birth!

  54. Oh Wrighty, I was wondering if it was really you, but your latest pathetic response proves it! Nobody else would be such an arse! I presume you missed the stat that showed that Forty One Thousand Five Hundred comments had been published. Quite a few others have been deleted! I visit many other blog sites and NEVER leave a comment, and most people are like me. Not everybody feels the need to drop his trousers and show his arse each time he thinks somebody might be looking!

Who cares? You care obviously, look at how the success of the site gets under your skin!

Why do people keep visiting? You would have to ask them.

Work? Doesn't involve any. Firstly because it is a hobby, secondly because each thread takes about ten to fifteen minutes to write only, and thirdly because I do it whilst watching TV, listening to radio, interacting with family etcetera.

Tell me, what's wrong with your life that you need to keep coming to a pointless blog that, according to you, NOBODY replies to? What does that say about you? Sad man!
