Leeds Manager Warnock Draws Up If But And Maybe Battle Line With Bates

Not exactly the most bullish of statements from angst ridden Leeds United manager Neil Warnock was it? Where Allardyce was setting a target of 90 points at this stage last season, Warnock is worrying about the quality of the opposition as he says, "“Looking at our fixtures makes you realise how difficult a league this is."

Where Allardyce was bullish from the off, landing Nolan in a stunning £4m deal, Warnock is reduced to hoping the right players will fall into his lap, saying, "We’ve got a lot of work to do. Let’s hope we can get things done.”

Where Allardyce had the full backing of his Board, Warnock is clearly unsure, saying, "I’m going along working as hard as I can now and we know we need players. I think the club know I need help and they are trying to do it. Only time will tell."

Those words "I think the club know I need help" and "Only time will tell" don't inspire confidence do they? Warnock is clearly establishing tacit battle lines with Master Bates. He is worried, worried that his reputation will be soiled through association with a club heading in the wrong direction. Star players will leave in August, if not before, and it seems to be dawning on Warnock that Bates is not minded to shell out money to replace them. As I keep warning, this is heading for a big bust up anytime soon.

Unless the take over happens of course. Then Warnock will be replaced by the new owner's preferred candidate anyway.

And before Leeds fans mouth off abuse, ask yourself, why wasn't Warnock more bullish? Why didn't he say, "The work begins here and now as we build a team to win the division next season"? That's what you guys want to hear isn't it? That's what Captain Snakeinthegrass and company want to hear isn't it? So if Warnock believes it is possible, why doesn't he come out and say it?

  4. Dude, isn't this supposed to be a West Ham site? You're obsessed with Leeds. Is your own club too dull to write about, or do you have a lot of bottled up frustration from lack of sex, and need to relieve yourself through these fuck me awful blog posts?

  5. Actually maybe WE should turn this into the Leeds blog it is fast becomming, and put our Leeds comments on all of the articles here....

.... oh, no we can't, they already are all Leeds, aren't they.

Seems West Ham have no news themselves then?

You are one sad little twit with nothing and no-one of your own to play with.....

  6. It's a fair point, barring the fact that Allardyce was at the helm of a club that made no secret of its willingness to back him.

Assuming Warnock knows what's going on with regard to the takeover, his comments would appear to be reasonable: there's no point talking up your team's prospects if you have no idea whether the money will be there to strengthen it. If a takeover materialises I'd expect his tone to change, bolstered, as it's likely to be, by the funds he needs to bring in new players.

The concern I have is that should nothing come of these phantom takeover talks, it provides Bates with the perfect excuse to see out the summer with his bank account intact. If that happens then all we have to look forward to is a predictably vitriolic chairman's column in the matchday programme disparaging those involved in wasting the club's time, and conveniently shifting the blame elsewhere.

  7. Well, I am a Rams season ticket holder for many years (yep seen Bremner Lorimer Bonds Hurst Peters Greaves Clarke,Hector, Macfarland George play. I am married to an LUFC season ticket holder. I do get drawn to sites such as the scum (nffc)and of course LUFC so that I can keep up with whats going on. I have to say this site is a complete load of b*ll*cks. This guy is no WHU fan he is a Warnock hater for some reason. If you are WHU then stick to moaning about your own club, because once the season starts me thinks you are gunna have plenty to moan about.

BTW...LUFC....far bigger club the WHU...no matter what division they are in...so get over it. Knob. DTID

  8. I think you need to be taken to the trades descriptions mate, this certainly isn't a west ham site any more.......

You need to change the name to 'this man's gone crazy' over Leeds United........

    total irrelevant dross!!!

  9. There is nothing the Warnock can say regarding the confidentiality clause regarding the take over. When the due diligence process is over and the take over goes through, then and only then will there be any meaningful statements & intent shown by the new board & manager. I trust this clarifys the current situation going on at LUFC.MOT

  10. In the words of keegan "I would love it" if Leeds do get this takeover and snoddy and McCormack sign, as well as new players and Leeds take promotion this year, whereas west ham will be in a relegation battle and we will swap sides in may.. But then again you'll probably have announced you're true feelings about you're love for Leeds... Just write about west ham.. You're an embarrassment to an otherwise brilliant support.

  12. Neil Warnock, pffftIt couldn't happen to a nicer fella, He's a whiny git, and deserves all the bad press and luck he is getting.Ever since he considered suing West Ham for loss of earning after we already got a £50 million fine over Tevez, I hope he ends up managing a Sunday League Pub team.

  15. Leeds United have been bought by Bernard Arnault which is in the top 5 finish men. One of his senior directors has been spotted numerous times at the residence of Ken Bates. Somehow this has been leaked earlier than the official statement due this Friday

Leeds United fans seem to find the former business interests of the present West Ham owners distasteful. Yet they are ready and willing to glorify the days when Don Revie encouraged his thuggish players to injure and try to maim opposition players on a regular basis.
Shame on you Cain Dingle wannabees.

"Leeds United have been bought by Bernard Arnault which is in the top 5 finish men"

Do you mean finish man as in person from Finland? 'Cos Bernard Arnault is French.

Either way. The richest man in Europe is very welcome to buy LUFC as far as I'm concerned.
