Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Al-Hasawi and Warnock

So, when Shakespeare had a deadline to meet and couldn't be arsed with the increasingly feeble Much Ado About Nothing, he chucked the script at one of his writing team and said, "Knock off the next scene or two for me". But the poor lackey didn't know where to take the play and pleaded for help, so Will tossed him Romeo and Juliet and said "Taketh Act 3 Scene 1 and turn it into a full blown comedy."

And something similar happened in the offices of the Daily Mail last night. A desperate editor with column inches to fill, turned to a hack and said, "OK, Leeds, Forest, Al-Hasawi, Warnock, Take Overs - knock me off a story. Here's something from a few weeks back to base it on!"

Now we all do speculative - otherwise there would be very little to write on a day to day basis - but there's speculative and there's outright pulp fiction, and the Mail article falls very much into the latter category. Firstly Al-Hasawi hasn't bought Forest yet, it could be a Fake Sheik for all we know, or Al Murray. Secondly, the said non owning Sheik hasn't expressed an interest in Warnock. Thirdly, the claimed transfer embargo at Leeds pending a takeover has seen Leeds actively recruiting players. And fourthly, if the priority of the new owners of Leeds, if they exist, is to get out of the division, why would they sack Warnock as the article claims?

Talk about a Bubble & Squeak of a story!

  2. This must have been ghost written by someone else because it's almost a well thought out article. Still nothing to write about West Ham though?

  6. If you dropped the West Ham bit from the blog, people might read what you say. Again a good unbiased piece. Keep it up. As I get older I get more and more embarrassed by Leeds fans. I have been one for 45 years and have watched the decline in educational standards and good manners spread across Leeds like a particularly nasty virus. Epicentre, Elland Road.

    Keep up the good work

  8. As far as I know you can still sign players with he bosman ruling whilst under an embargo. Fair point on the mail, it's the kind of article we'd expect from the YEP. Hopefully it was a work experience candidate, or someone who's handed their notice in.

  9. The only source of entertainment on this blog is the comments. All the stories are crap...

  10. LOL 0914, it does show the level of stupidity of the knuckle draggers doesn't it? They don't even understand that this is dissing the Mail for trying to unsettle Leeds fans! It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some people are!

  11. Here we have a guy who writes complete S**te writing an article complaining that someone else writes bigger s**te than him.

Did this offend your sensitivities Hammersfan? You don't hold the monopoly on s**te you know!

  12. 0924, it is a self imposed embargo if one exists. Why sign yard dog players on a free or for peanuts if in 4 to 6 week's time you can spend proper money on quality players?

The trouble is, if the take over doesn't materialise, what are you left with? That's why this could yet be a clever ruse by Bates to control Warnock's recruitement strategy!

  13. "They don't even understand that this is dissing the Mail for trying to unsettle Leeds fans! It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some people are!"

Actually we understand this point entirely, but every time you give us the opportunity to give you a bashing, we will!

The mail doesn't need you to point out what a stupid twattish 'old' story this is, it does a very good job of that all by itself!

Just seems very sad that YOU have to take a total 'non' story, and give it any sort of space whatsoever.

Wet Spam must be so bereft of anything remotely interesting for you to even be reading articles relating to Leeds?

Do they have any paint drying down there that you could go and watch dry (might even be lucky and find there are two coats to be applied), or how about some grass seed being planted - that would keep you busy for a few days watching that come up?

You even have the Olympics happening down there in the near future, seems a shame you can't find something to do with that, to keep you off the streets?

We have all the Leeds United news and articles we need (and some we don't, even) on our own websites and blogs, thank you very much!

  14. do you think, if the take over goes through, warnock can take leeds up next season.

  15. 1017, I know I don't have the mobnopoly on complete shite, you only have to look at the Leeds squad and warnock's targets to realise that!

Come on 1027, showing an interest in Leeds has to be more interesting than watching paint dry - marginally! Stop putting your own team down man!

  16. 1037, it depends. If Warnock is given money to spend early enough, then yes. But I suspect he will walk or be sacked. QPR will have taught him that being an appointment of an exiting regime does you no favours whatsoever. Zola can confirm that!

  18. @10.22

The 2 freebies we've signed are of a decent championship level. Who's to say if with new investment we'll buy better and they'd be good rotation players. Or that with FFP rules, we'd look to bolster the squad with 'money' signings in other positionns. Leaving drury and green the best option for the costs.

You are wasting your time trying to explain footballing decisions here, this guy is (supposedly) a wet spam supporter - not that you'd notice from the near 100% Leeds United content on here.

Maybe we should get the new investors/takeover/merger group interested in this site, it would probably bump up the value by at least 45 pence......

  20. hey everyone..Hammersfan responded to my comment at 1017 with a tarty tirade including poor spelling and an obscenity...obviously he's a pimply 17 y o who was picked on at school...

  21. LOL I did hit a rogue b and missed a capital letter for Warnock. Tired.

Wish I was seventeen. Sadly for you, I'm not.

But making you look foolish by turning your own words back on you is so so easy!

  22. This guy wrote a blog a few weeks ago commenting on the most hits he had ever received was regarding a Leeds story. Since then he has written a daily article about Leeds just to keep his site traffic up.

Be man enough to admit this is why you keep churning out Leeds stories every day.

West Ham fans have as much interest in Leeds as Leeds do with West Ham. You're obviously a frustrated journalist so start writing some proper blogs and give up on your obsession with Leeds traffic.

  23. Hammersfan, who I pointed out can't spell and writes tarty comments when his purile articles are challenged, now thinks he has made me look foolish by comparing my assessment of these articles to the current Leeds squad...(complete sh**e)

He is always quick to point out that people completely miss the point so here is where HE is guilty of the same. To question the credibility of a Mirror Article when he himself writes the biggest dross on the internet is beyond laughable. The other thing we have learned is that 'sadly , he's not 17'. Never mind son, in another couple of years you will be.

  24. Typical Dirty Leeds fans. They have delusions of granduer & think the world revolves around them.

What does WACCOE stand for again?

    ;o)

  25. Firstly it was a Mail article 0807, and secondly, you still have not grasped the self deprecating nature of my posts. Is the concept of tongue in cheek beyond your power of comprehension?

Mind you, they do say that the ability to understand tone when reading is a mark of intelligence, so I suppose I should not be surprised by your inability in this area.

By the way, your address to the nation rather than talking to me directly is very strange. Do you think anybody cares what you write? Are they coming to this blog to hear you splutter through your metaphorical megaphone? I doubt it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I hope you keep your 'dirty-tricks' Warnock at 'cheating Leeds'

We have a history of 'proper-football' at the City Ground, rather than 'dirty-football' and would rather get relegated than have Warnock in our dug-out!

We all hate Leeds scum...we all hate Leeds scum!

  27. Hammersfan has now reached for his dictionary to come up with words like 'self deprecating' which is a step up from Mobnopoly which he was throwing around yesterday....actually having earlier pointed out that he is the king of sh**te I suggest another spelling error has occurred here...should have been 'self defacating'...This has been a party political broadcast on behalf the metaphorical megaphone party.....

    ReplyDelete
  28. I may have under-estimated you 1904, that was quite clever. At my age, self defacating is unavoidable, but Bowie describes it as ecstasy.

  29. Ok Hammersfan, now I know you own a copy of Station to Station I will give you the courtesy of addressing you personally, and I challenge you to answer this question honestly....Are you Neil Warnock's Hairdresser?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Diamond Dogs surely? But yes, I own a copy of Station to Station too. How did you know about me and Warnock? I crimp his pubic hair.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well Hammersfan please sharpen your crimping shears! I noticed Neil 'adjusting' himself on more than one occasion! It may well be your dodgy equipment that has led to his unfortunate nickname...Anyhow as they pull you out of the oxygen tent, on behalf of Colin, I will depart this blog now as it's run it's course, however it's been fun so I may well reserrect myself on one of your future diatribes and continue to keep you honest
