Lorimer Tells Leeds Fans To Trust Master Bates & Suffer In Silence

I was taken to task earlier in the week for terming Peter Lorimer a Leeds hero, with irritated fans of the club pointing out that he was a nodding dog puppet for Ken Bates. Whilst I still say that his performances on the pitch merit the status of Leeds legend, I can see what his critics are saying having read his latest, "Trust Uncle Ken, he knows best, and if he puts his finger in a hole, he's doing it for the best possible of reasons" offering.

According to Lorimer, the club are so lucky to have Master Bates on the bridge, and Leeds fans need not worry about what's going on, because Uncle Ken has the best interests of the club at heart. He isn't in this for himself! Perish the thought!

So Lorimer's advice is to be "patient". Well's that's bloody convenient isn't it, given fans and Warnock have been expressing frustration at the lack of activity in the transfer market? How convenient would it be if the mysterious "investors" preoccupied the minds of the fans until it was too late to do any costly business this summer, only for Bates still to be in charge at the start of the new season, blaming the unsettling speculation over the close season for the failure to strengthen the squad?

It's an uncomfortable possibility but this may all be a big smokescreen, a well orchestrated hoax.

  3. I just was reading a list of frees. Jose bosingwa and kalou are some big names let go on a free. You talk about need for wingers (front and back). Those would be huge. At this point in there career they are all about money and easy life. We could pay them and they wouldn't have to relocate.

  4. No trolling HF? You're losing your touch! I'm afraid you may be right though. Bates can spend even less and blame 'plastic Yanks' or something more racist, while he makes good his promise to take us out of the league.

Are you sure you follow West Ham? Your articles about Leeds United are popping up daily on our page on News Now. Rather puzzling, to say the least.

  6. Not trolling 1727, I genuinely am interested in what is happening at Leeds. There are more West ham threads than Leeds threads, even though things are quiet at Upton park at the moment. I don't know why football fan find it so hard to understand that somebody can be a passionate fan of one club but, at the same time, have a love for football in general and so be fascinated by big stories elsewhere. Love them or hate them, Leeds are a big story, always have been, always will be!

  8. I understand that. And I've been enjoying your baiting of us. I've also been a bit disappointed by the more witless vitriol you've received for what is essentially inter-club banter, I know we can come up with better than that. Unfortunately I'm crap at it.

  13. Why do I keep reading Leeds articles on a West Ham site? If you want to start supporting Leeds mate, just come right out and say it. We're a very accepting bunch!

  14. Another perceptive article!

I agree, there is no reason why a fan of one club can't be interested in the shenanagins at another club.

And LUFC, being the greatest club ever, are worthy of attention! Especially with the current farce created by our beloved leader, Mr Bates.

Peter Lorimer was a hero of mine, but his condescending defence of our "chilling" and "criminal" (a judge says) chairman is sickening.

The club itself was found guilty of harrasment this week, Peter is implicated as a director. He says he stays out of the financial stuff, fair enough, but he IS a director of a "chilling" and potentially "criminal" organisation.

    he should resign now!
