Does Alou Diarra's Arrival Signal End For Noble?

He sounds like a cross between an Indian side dish and the after effects of a dodgy vindaloo, but the capture of Alou Diarra may be as important to our survival as the signing of Nolan was to our promotion push last season. The guy is a typical Allardyce man - big, black, competitive and nasty.

But what does this mean for Mark Noble? If we pencil in a first choice eleven in formation now it probably reads:

Jussi

Demel, Tomkins, Collins, McCartney

Diame, Diarra

Nolan

Vaz Te                        Maiga

Cole

The team looks reasonable to me, although the full back positions still need to be addressed in my book. With two holding midfielders, we have a good screen for the back four, whilst Nolan, Vaz Te, Maiga and Cole offer four goal scoring threats going forward in open play. Mind you, if that team starts, Allardyce will be playing for corners, crowding opposition keepers and looking to bundle in a couple of goals a game based on a Land of the Giants formation: Demel, McCartney, Collins, Tomkins, Diarra, Maiga, Cole, Vaz Te and Diame are all six foot plus!

It sure as hell aint going to be pretty, but if it is effective, the new breed of Hammers fans won't be complaining!

  1. Alou can also play Centre Half, which is great for cover. Also because of ANC this year and Diame's knock right now this deal looks to strengthen the midfield. I dont think Noble will be done because he is a good player and I hope Sam notices this as well

  2. collison will be off, his knee is still knacked and he hasn't been anywhere near the player he was before his injury, sad but true, gary o'neill might also make way along with baldock, they would by my tips to go

  7. Matt Taylor instead of mcartney, play 4-4-2 solid formation which would make it hard for the opposition to break us down, put vas-te and maiga upfront get rid of cole and use noble as d extra man in mid-field.

  8. No width in that team 2211. And Taylor was awful at left back last season. Did you watch the Blackpool game? Premiership players would rip him apart!

  9. Dont care what anyone says, mark noble is not a good player in the premiership. I think a cover at RB and a goal-scoring centre forward and we should be able to stay up next season.

  10. You know what I think of Noble, Diarra or no Diarra. So, don't tempt me to start again. MB is not Premiership quality. He is slow, he can't defend, and he can't create. So, with or without Diarra, I can't see how he should be in the team. That is, if we want to remain a premiership team.

  11. I don't acceptyour notion that Noble will suffer - We all know that Nolan is approaching the end of a fine career, legs gone, won't do it week in-week out. Noble is the enforcer these days and he is a true Hammer - to lose him would be to weaken our soul.....remember when the squad got too 'classy' to find room for Bobby Zamora, what a mistake letting him go was...lets have a little loyalty to our own.

  12. Noble is poor . Not good enough in P Ship. No pace , can't defend and doesn't score in open play . Git rid and bring in young Moncur who has a great future.

  16. so xavi and scholes lack of pace dosen't make them poor players but nobles lack of pace does, i would rather be "illeterate" than a moronic internet troll that hasn't got a clue about the subject he is talking about
