So Mark Noble, aged 25, is about to sign a five year contract, coming as close as anybody can to committing an entire career to the club that nurtured him. He had his chance to move this summer, Fulham definitely enquired, and he could have run his contract down and done a Rob Green, but it looks as if his love for the club and sense of fair play will ensure he does the decent thing.
Noble really is a throw back to the good old days. He already has over 220 appearances to his name and whilst he will never come close to Billy Bonds' record of appearances, by modern standards he could record an amazing number of starts if he and the club see that contract through.
His critics will claim it is because he has no other options but Jol definitely wanted him and, on a Bosman or at a reduced price because of a short contract, there would be a clutch of clubs eager to sign him. If he was "playing the game" as some claim, he would leave the contract unsigned, twisting arms into selecting him on a threat of, "I play or I walk away"; but Gold claims he will sign a contract today. Good on him I say!
Best news of the season.
ReplyDeleteyou wanna bum noble???
ReplyDeletethat is a really poor graphic
ReplyDeleteIn yesterday's Sun, the Premier season to date stats proclaimed Noble as 'most completed passes' and ' most distance covered'. Two 1st's can't be bad. As a player, he's a bit marmite, but personally I would always have him in the team. If he is to sign a new 5-year deal then all credit to him - he's West Ham through and through.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a player to keep for on the pitch and off the pitch reasons. Definitely the hub of the team. My only critique of him would be to stop letting him take set pieces, he's terrible.
ReplyDeleteDG on twitter today: I believe Winston Reed has been the best player so far". How does an illiterate own a team? It's Reid.
ReplyDeleteWhy go to Fulham and risk spending most of his time on the bench when he can continue his PR campaign at West Ham and be selected to play every week? Pointless passes that either put the defenders under pressure or are passes leading to nothing in the middle of the field. Our Mr. Noble, unlike Iniesta and Xavi and the like gives no assists. He doesn't create the game for anyone. But who is listening. You have already made up your mind that Noble is a superstar and nothing else matters. Not even the truth. Count the passes as if that is what really counts. Especially in a team that like or not plays direct football!
ReplyDeleteAre you a fan of long ball Sav? Would you prefer to watch a team that sets up play from the back, looks for angles, mixes up the passing? You can't have it both ways. Noble is the link player, the player who offers an out ball to all his team mates and the player with the best range of passing in the team. How many assists from Parker when he won Player of the Season? It was just three or five. Noble offers everything Parker offered and some in my opinion. Not as fenetic so not as appreciated.
ReplyDeleteHf could you explain to those of us in the North what "fenetic"means? Is it some cockney slang word for thick cockney? I see one of the comments quotes the thickos bible, the sun. Classy stuff. Dyslexics of West Ham untie.
ReplyDelete@09.56 They untie or unite?

ReplyDeleteHow did your match go tonight? Thumped I think by Wigan!! Still, at least Leeds won
ReplyDeleteYou know very well what I like. Of cource I prefer us playing like Barcelona. But even Barcelona would be better off playing direct football if its midfielders were like Mark Noble.
ReplyDelete06.02am? oh dear that new job doesn't sound too good, they must be working you hard - Mmwwwaaahhhaaahhhaa
ReplyDelete15:48 think it was a joke, you know Dyslexics get their letters muddled - looks like that went right over your head then? #numpty
ReplyDeleteOk guys, keep your Wigan, i mean Wigs on. Couldn't make it up could you? What a disgrace, your only chance of silverware and you opt for the slim chance of premier league survival.
ReplyDeleteYou've been a bit quiet Hammersfan since the League Cup. Wouldn't have anything to do with a rubbish performance against Wigan combined by Heroics by a spirited WARNOCK inspired Leeds team..?
ReplyDeleteLearn a lesson loudmouth. Now you are looking like a FOOL.
