Bates Reportedly Planning To Cut And Run From Leeds

Ooops, it is all coming out now. When I posted suggesting that the take over at Leeds might turn in to a nightmare, Leeds fans fell over themselves in a rush to call me an idiot. I knew nothing apparently, GFH were simply fronting the deal, the real buyers were filthy rich individuals happy to pump oil money into the club. Not so it seems. GFH are the buyers.

Now, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Bates is planning to sell his interest in the club and disappear into the sunset - or into his grave if Leeds' fans wishes came true. Good riddance the flat capped whippet owners will say, but they are missing the point. If Bates is planning to go, then Leeds fans should start to worry with a capital W. The guy is a wily old bastard when it comes to money and he wouldn't be walking away from a great investment - unless he is selling the club at way over the odds or he believes that things are going to go tits up after the sale.

And there is the rub. Look closely at GFH and you have to gasp - not in awe but in trepidation. If this outfit was planning to buy West Ham, I would be organising a campaign to block the sale, not rolling out the red carpet! And this is nothing to do with racism - although I must confess that I would object to being owned by a company that in its literature makes such a deal out of investing in Islamic companies and culture because that is, to me, racist in itself: we are supposed to look beyond race, culture and creed, but GFH put Islam at the centre of their mission statement to the exclusion of other religions. I object to Christian Aid as a Charity because of the use of a religion in its title and I would certainly not give my custom to a company that aligned itself with the Christian faith to the exclusion of Islam, Judaism, Hinduism etcetera.

But that is just the top of the boil. The real puss is what lies beneath, a septic mess of debt that, if reports are correct, seems to be eating Leeds' potential new owners from the inside out. I quote from the Yorkshire Evening Post here:

"Since then, Gulf Finance House, which made losses in excess of £200million in both 2009 and 2010 but is in profit for the past 18 months, has announced a deal to restructure part of its debt and drawn up a plan to restructure more. GFH said recently that it now expects “sustainable profitability in the long term.”

"Others are more doubtful. The YEP has seen a document produced this week by a global market investment firm, in which GFH is discussed as a possible investment opportunity. Independent of KPMG’s analysis, the firm declares itself “wary of GFH’s ability to carry on as a going concern given its continued inability to produce cash from its core operations.” The document also says that “we believe GFH is only staying afloat because of its successful debt restructurings and the continued financial support of its shareholders.”

Tell me, if Master Bates anticipated Leeds making it to the promised land of the Prem, why would he sell out just before the club hits the jackpot? But if he can get top dollar and walk away risk free from a bunch of chancers who may be looking for cheap publicity by buying a big name football club, then why wouldn't he do it? Leeds fans claim he hates the club and its fans so cashing in a profit and leaving the club to go to Hell might have a certain appeal. Revenge is sweet, especially when you sign the contract with a pen donated by LUST!

Now this is all speculation and may be unfair. GFH may be great news for Leeds. But there are lots of questions still to be answered and those who are gloating are being more than a tad presumptuous from what I can see.

  2. Actually our club is being financed by wankers up and down the land. Just think, next time you tug yourself off, you could be helping to finance West Ham's survival in the Prem!

I have no problem with adults enjoying pornography, but if it was Christian or Muslim porn I would object strongly. Religious bigotry has no place in pornography!

  8. "Leeds is a club with a large fanbase and many trophies,” Al-Reyas said in an interview with CNBC Arabia.

"It suffered lots of debt in 2003 and 2004 but the new board has stabilised the finances, and they are now in a good state.

“The club doesn't have any debt, which is a good comparison with other clubs in England. If promotion is achieved, there will be £60 million in television rights.

"We have a separate budget from the purchase total to buy better players to achieve promotion to the Premier League,” he added. “Money already spent on the stadium and facilities means money that can be spent elsewhere.

"This represents an opportunity for us, a new field of investment... it will add variety to our portfolio and help our exposure to the United Kingdom and build relationships there."

Seems straightforward, a profitable company investing to get LUFC to the PL

I often see comments calling him a sad twat who is obsessed with Leeds and should focus on posting about west ham. This begs the question though - are you all not as sad and obsessed with his blog as he is with Leeds? If you don't like his opinions that much then here's a suggestion, don't read his posts! It amazes me that you all have such little intellect that you can't see all you are achieving is making yourselves look like 8 year old kids who heard that someone that their friends cousin knows doesn't like them.

  34. You really need to do your research before you write anything in public - To someone well read you come across as an idiot especially with racist drivel you are attempting to incite in your blog today.

Just to educate you I'll give two subjects you can look up via google then perhaps you'll better understand what you have written, as it's obvious you don't know what the fuck you're talking about and you'll retract this racist blog.

    The first word is 'Usuary'.
    The second is "Sharia Compliant"

As a Leeds fan here(on a West Ham blog FFS) - righfully mentioned, name on financial institution that has not had a problem is the last 5 years. Sharia compliant banks are more stable than western bank because they are forbidden usuary - as we Christian banks were until they found out they could complete with Jewish money lenders.

Give up this blog & tend your lawn instead. Or better still, write about West Ham - I'm sure your followers would rather read about WHUFC than LUFC.

  35. Can the blog originator reply to this please...
How and when did you become a financial expert in the space of writing a few self important blogs online?
And why have you brought race and religion into this?
If an Islamic investment bank in an Islamic country bases it's business on Islam and Islamic people how is this racist?
Also if this Islamic business is so against other religions and people then why are they trying to broaden their horizons by investing in an English football club?
None of your points make sense.
I would rather be owned by a respectful Islamic company than perverts anyday.

    Two final questions!

Why are you so obsessed in L.U.F.C?

How well have you masked your I.P??? - Please reply, Thanks

  36. My mate is a hammers fan and I mentioned your site and your unhealthy obsession with Leeds. He said he'd read your rubbish and that hammers fans are ashamed and embarrassed by your ridiculous articles. I wouldn't mind if you were actually a football fan who could write impartial articles about other football teams, but your claim that you choose a team from the championship to comment on is rubbish. You have a problem with the great Leeds united for some reason and because of this problem all you want to do is find something negative to write about Leeds. I doubt us Leeds fans will ever find out what your problem is but give it a rest. We have had so much disappointment as Leeds fans since the club went into debt, but the majority of us have kept our heads held high and still supported the team through it all. We've had our ups and downs as our great song says but at least we haven't given up hope that one day soon Leeds will be back in the best division in the world. So I ask you politely to stop annoying us by rubbishing any hopes of a good takeover and hope that you will be man enough to write a good article when the takeover is completed and learn to write something worthwhile reading. If you must write about Leeds then make it impartial and stop writing things with the intent to be smug and I told you so as you are clearly only writing these things in order to get a response. Because I love Leeds I felt the need to respond to you, but politely rather than with the hated abuse given from my fellow brothers in arms. Mot.

So being as this total bollocks came from you, how can we treat anything you say with any credibility?

  39. 23.23 Semantics my friend which sum up the hypocrisy of religion. If I buy a house using a traditional mortgage, I pay interest but the bank holds first a charge on my house and reclaims the asset and disposes of it to settle the debt if I fail to pay the interest.

If I take a mortgage under Sharia law, in what is known as an ijara or murabaha scheme, the bank buys my property in return for me paying rent for a fixed period. At the end of that period, as with a mortgage, the house becomes mine; if I do not pay the rent, the bank disposes of the asset, as with the failure to pay mortgage interest, to settle the debt.

It is a device to get around the archaic law. Whether you call it interest or rent doesn't matter, because in practice it is exactly the same thing!

Want any other lessons on Islamic finance and hypocrisy?

By the way, under Sharia law it is absolutely forbidden to make money out of the sale of alcohol. Will this mean all the bars in Elland Road will be shut down, or will another principle be compromised? Given the ban on pornography, will entry to the West Ham fixture be free of charge?

  40. By the way, on the subject of Islam and hypocrisy, this makes for an interesting read, extracted from an article by a good Muslim for Muslims in denial:

Among the factors contributing to the widespread practice of prostitution among Muslim countries include:
•The denial of the existence of such problems in our community
•Spreading of the truth impedes men's comfort and pleasure in using women
•Hindrance of profitability of the industry, especially for those players who are politically connected
•Prostitution is too horrible of a practice, a highly stigmatized taboo subject, that people would rather not hear details about

Majority of us may have the idea that prostitution is a choice and the women enjoy what they do. The reality is quite the contrary for many of them. On many occasions, deprivations, conflicts, and difficult circumstances often lead to desperation, and desperation forces these women into the practice of prostitution. Many are uneducated women who live in poverty and possess few marketable skills. My research finds that prostitutes are many times:
•single mothers making ends meet for their children.
•victims of incest and sexual abuse.
    •manipulated homeless teenagers.
    •displaced sufferers of human trafficking.
•They are distraught girls with failed early marriages.
•They are refugees who fled from their war-torn countries.

While we criminalize them for living in adultery, spreading diseases, disrupting family institutions, and giving birth to innocent, illegitimate children who suffer for having dishonorable mothers, we fail to see the other spectrum of the consequences of prostitution. The consequences are not only devastating to the society, but also to the prostitute herself as a person. It completely destroys her already shattered life, being reduced down to a depersonalized, sexual object. She develops a personality where she is unable to develop trust in relationships and slowly numbs herself, to the point where she loses the ability to feign attachments to anyone or anything. In order to survive this overwhelming, daily ordeal, she dissociates from her real self, originally as a defense mechanism; sadly, it reaches to the point of complete shut down, where she is stripped of her identity, and over time, she disappears.

In addition, where violence against women is considered, prostitution is usually exempted from this category. However, the health effects of prostitution are similar; injuries, infections, and psychological stress are suffered by women subjected to prostitution as well as other forms of violence against women. Apart from sexual violence, prostitutes experience physical violence by their pimps, brothel owners, and clients as a means to keep them under control. Homicide is a frequent cause of death for women in prostitution. They are vulnerable to sexually transmitted diseases, pelvic inflammatory disease, and cervical cancer, not to mention their risk of unwanted pregnancies, which often lead to a lack of prenatal care or unsafe abortions. Moreover, they may suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and, eventually, may resort to substance abuse as a coping mechanism. The vicious cycle then continues.

  42. 2352 definition of racism:
    noun

    1.
a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

    2.
a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.

    3.
hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

Now, a POLICY of supporting Islamic projects over non Islamic projects, based on the religion rather than the commercial merits of the project, seems to fit neatly under definition 2. I accept that we are talking a religion rather than a race per se, but in tolerant socities we are not supposed not to discriminate based on colour, religion nor creed. If A Muslim went to a UK bank and was turned down for a mortgage because he was Muslim, there would rightly be outrage. Why doesn't the same apply in return? GFH's website BOASTS about discriminating in favour of Islamic projects and therefore, by definition, discriminating AGAINST Jewish and Christian projects.

You're well out of your depth and you haven't a clue what you are talking about. Racism- hostile or oppressive behaviour towards people because they belong to a different race. The belief that some races are inately superior to others because of heriditary characteristics. Collins. Now if you care to read your own comments back you will find that you ARE indeed a racist. You are certainly hostile towards Muslims, thats there for all to see and you believe you are superior to Muslims also. Now regarding tratment of women. How many soft porn images do you use on your blogs? A considerable amount i see. I can also remember a recent post in which two women in a photo were referred to as ugly friends. The issue of your exploitation of pornographic images of women on your posts is pertinent to your comments on prostitution. Whilst on a different level it is nevertheless demeaning and exploitative. 51. 0951 - Oh dear, struggling with the difference between mysogyny and racism. Not that being a fan of the female form is mysogynistic. I suspect that you are harbouring deep insecurities about your sexuality. Maybe you have a very small penis or maybe you are homosexual.

I have met two Page Three girls in person and they were both very wealthy and very happy, and both had nothing but positives to say about The Sun. I am not ashamed of my body and if somebody was happy to pay me what these women are paid for appearing topless, or for showing my rear, I would be delighted to do so. Soft porn exploits men, not women.

Hard porn is a different matter. But, in most cases, in the western world, the women who become involved do so through choice. Prostitution is another matter. It is foul and the men who pay for sex should feel deeply ashamed of themselves.

Be honest though, if your penis was large enough and you weren't homosexual, wouldn't you like to be paid to perform in porn movies? Paid to have sex? It beats cleaning toilets! Or in your case, waiting around male toilets hopefully.

  67. You don't gget irony do you? Of course the Peterborough comment wasn't serious, their back to back victories simply shows the low quality of the division. I mention four clubs which still leaves two berths open, so why not add Leicester to the list? Cardiff, Blackburn, Blackpool, Forest, Leicester - only leaves one place for Leeds to chase. Principle rivals? Wolves, Bolton, Birmingham, Middlesborough.

  68. Yes, I do g-get Irony, and it can be practiced in a witty way by clever people. What you were trying to do was 'wind up' the Leeds supporters by declaring 4 spots were already sewn up after 5 games had been played. 'Oh look, Leeds are not in playoff positions and there's only another possible two places they can occupy '

This of course leaves the message that they will likely not make the playoffs, and poor Leeds season is over after 5 games and the 'wind up' is complete, save only the abusive responses from the Leeds masses.
However, Puppet man, the cost of that hastily written bollocks, designed only as a 'wind up' is that the good readers of your blog will now delight in following the form of your 4 certainties...and who knows, they may have to remind you from time to time how your predictions are going. Oh, and from what I can see Leeds have nothing to fear from any Team on your ever expanding list.

  69. Most of the YEP(Hays) articles re: the takeover are extremely speculative and generally tend to recycle other stories that have been posted by others the day before. Those that know the score don't really by into it. Some of us are quite patient and happy to wait and see what happens before getting carried away, unlike you it seems.
