Warnock Edging Closer to Leeds Exit

Where were Leeds in the table when Warnock took charge? Eighth wasn't it? Where are they 10 months later? Fifteenth.

Now of course the die hard blinkered flat caps will say that all is not lost, that a few results will see Leeds climb the table, that when the takeover happens, Leeds will do a Reading - but that is ignoring all the facts. This is a shit team, and it is a team in Warnock's own image.

How many points is it from the last five games exactly, all against teams outside of the top six? Three. Three points from the last fifteen! That isn't the platform for a promotion push, it is relegation form, especially when you take into account the quality of the opposition.

This is Leeds United for pity's sake. This is a club that was once one of the biggest in the country, a team that won league titles and reached the final of the European Cup. And Warnock lauds an away draw at Brighton and sets up to share the points at Burnley! How the mighty have fallen!

Look at the stats from tonight's game. True it was only 1-0, but Burnley had 16 shots to Leeds' 8, with the Clarets getting nine on target to the Whites' five. It's a crude measure I know, but that suggests Burnley were twice as effective as Leeds when they had the ball.

And it's not as if this is a young Leeds team which will improve as it gains in experience. Three players were 34 years of age or older, and a fourth was over 30. The average age of the starting 11 was 28 and, apart from Diouf, Tonge, Kenny, and Brown, none of them have Premiership experience - and those four have all been relegated from the Prem!

How many players is Warnock planning to buy in January exactly? This team has had less shots on goal than ANY other team in the division, with the lowest number of shots on target too. The midfield is crap, the forward line is little better, and the defence are nothing to write home about either.

Leeds are now NINE points adrift of an automatic promotion place and are already playing for a play off place at best. But that looks optimistic to me. It's true that this is a crap division, but tell me, if Leeds are below half way in the table come the start of January, who will want to join them even if the Arabs chuck money at a bid for promotion? And even if, by some miracle, Leeds fiddled their way to promotion via the playoff, how would this rabble survive in the Prem? The squad is mediocre by Championship standards for pity's sake! But you can't buy their team spirit according to Warnock. God's knows why when the team are so prone to bottle it!

But Leeds are still in the Capital One Fan Cup and are dreaming of doing a Colchester when the mighty Chelsea come to town! Some consolation!

If Gulf Finance House are serious about buying Leeds, they must be asking questions about Warnock now. Would you trust your money to this man given his record over the last 12 months? Old Big Gob has spent his career at clubs like Shafting United, QPR and Crystal Palace for a reason. He is all mouth and no trousers, a Brian Clough without Clough's ability. And sooner or later the Leeds fans are going to wake up and realise that Emperor Warnock has no clothes.

  8. Totally agree. Interesting fact about the least attacking team in the league stats too. .... Warnocks team should not be under performing Grayson's record if he wants to keep his job !

  10. Anyone who thinks Warnock should go need to realise that if the takeover falls through Ken Bates will send us down again. MARK MY WORDS.

The point about places before Warnock and now isn't REALLY valid though is it, hf? You've done enough research to grasp that.

  15. I'd just like to remind everyone that Leeds found themselves in this position at this time of the year 2 seasons ago before going on a long unbeaten run and finishing a point outside the playoffs, every team goes through a bad patch and this is are bad patch a win on Saturday could kick start a run, and as for this moron of a so called west ham fan he should worry about his own team how many teams have been promoted and got off to flying starts only to find themselves being relegated come may

  16. Why have you wrote this blog ? For what reason ?

  17. Four of your last eight entries are about Leeds. In what sense exactly is this a West Ham blog? Intelligent people (sadly you don't qualify, not knowing the difference between fewer and less) call this a category mistake. Get a life.

  18. LOL Brilliant 1456, and the point of finishing ONE POINT OUTSIDE the play offs is what exactly? And that was, in your words, after a long unbeaten run. And if that run does not materialise?

  19. Are you going to answer my question ? Why have you wrote this blog ? Why do you write about Leeds ?

  20. I think you meant, "Why have you WRITTEN this blog"; we can see why you don't write a blog, can't we?

Why did I write it? So you could read it with the help of your special needs assistant.

  21. Bit harsh on 1512 there. The small point you've missed is Grayson had the benefit of Snodgrass, Howson, Clayton, McCormack (now long term injured) and a month of Gradel in his charge to 8th in January. Warnock hasn't had anywhere near that sort of quality to work with due to broken promises by KB.

At least try and make your articles more factual and balanced. You then might get the feedback you really crave?

  23. You are a long way from being an intellectual my friend. Stop picking fault with the grammer of the average guy and do as most of these posts say....Fuck off and either get a life or die. You sorry piece of London scum! Oh I dare say you will again 'moderate' this like many of my other posts. Fuck you and all other WH (WFEBB..we're for ever blowing bubbles)wankers. MOT.

  24. Some Leeds fans need to get their heads out of their arses and realise we're fucked. We've done next to fuck all and worse since Grayson got sacked, we're down in 15th with a shit manager whose main quality is bringing in old men that are nearly his age to play for us. We have a shit chairman who I doubt actually has any money left to put into the club. We also have potential investors who have taken 6 months in getting any form of agreement done and still haven't finished.
We had our moment in the sun and now it's time for us to accept that until we get a revie style revival, we're going absolutely FUCKING NOWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Nice article, i've said it before on other sites, but apart from Bechio, Byram, McCormack and Austin the rest of the team are sunday league shite. Diouf may or may not come good, but anyone including my dog would look good in this team. Sad thing is Warnock picked all the shite on his ownsome, so no matter how much money is made available if this takeover ever happens (it's been "imminent" for the best part of 6 months now)we are not likely to get anyone decent if Warnock is picking (just look at the highly paid rubbish he left for Mark Hughes). the new owners haven't a clue about football or players they just look at all the money swishing round in the premier league and get all rose tinted glasses at the thought it will all come our way. Warnock is only going to take us back to league one or worse with this bunch of legless cretins.
