Brighton's Poyet puts Leeds, Leicester, Watford et all in their place

So, Poyet has come out and said it. The Championship may be competitive but the quality of the football is crap. Any team worth its salt would be storming the division, but instead mediocrity is enough to keep you in the running for promotion.

Leeds fans have the cheek to mock an away draw with West Brom but as Poyet rightly says, in a half decent division, Brighton would be struggling. Instead, they are above Leeds and just four points light of Leicester and one of Watford. Mind you, West Ham are higher in the Prem than Leeds are in the Championship, and averaging 15,000 more per home game into the bargain!

The Uruguayan put it all in perspective when he told the BBC, "Without winning games we are there. It shows you how average this division is. Competitive, but average. With the results we have had, we should be 15th or 18th. We are still there because it is average."

So, by Poyet's reckoning, Leeds aren't even average! Without major investment, even if promotion were to be secured through the back door of the Play Offs, it is difficult to see how any of the clubs promoted this season can survive. Reading have tried to do it on the cheap, and look where they are now!

Still, why do Leeds care? It could be glory, glory days at Elland Road anyway as they take on jet lagged Chelsea in the Capital One Fan Cup.  Come on you Whites! You know, I prefer even Warnock to Benny Benitez.

  3. If it's such a tin pot division then why do you keep writing about it? Maybe it's for the attention you seek?

  4. Actually he is right! It is competitive but at a low standard. Half the division has a chance of a play off place. If Leeds spend well that could all change.

  13. No football supporter with half a brain thinks West Ham are a bigger club than Leeds, so stop trying to convince US and yourself!

Sheffield United are a bigger club than Wigan - common knowledge

Sheffield Wednesday are a bigger club than Fulham - common knowledge

Notts forest are a bigger club than QPR - common knowledge

    League positions come and go...
It is only a matter of time till the equilibrium returns..
    Eg. Bolton, Wimbledon, Portsmouth

West Ham might become a big club with the right investment and the new stadium...good luck to them
things can change over long periods of time....

But do a survey of footie fans on big clubs...Leeds will be higher than your lot!

    common knowledge

    do you have the
Leeds v West Ham stories stats?
    or too embarrassed to give?

  15. the hits are from people checking back to see if you have been killed by Leeds fans....

  16. billy no hits was a remark relating to your WEST HAM stories not your blog as a whole - you seem unable to read between the lines.

What do you put down your high number of overall hits to?

Leeds Fans or West ham fans?
judging by the comments on each article there are 1000% more hits on your Leeds stories ?

since you are statto...spill the beans....dont cheat !!!!!

  18. I'm a season ticket holder at ER and you're right. It is a lower standard. I don't see what point you are trying to make. We never said we were playing Premiere standard football and to my knowledge no-one else in the Championship has said that either. I don't particularly care for your lot or West Brom, but I did think it was an entertaining match to watch yesterday. Again, what's your point. We are in the 2nd tier of English football. The standard will be lower. Pointless post with no logical argument. As for the number of hits - I look forward to them to read all the comments telling others not to comment. Ironic really.

    ReplyDelete
  19. If you takew into account who you are blogging about you'll realise why you get so many hits. Why don't you save me the time and divvi up the hits for w,ham and Leeds? Also there's a case for multiple hits from the same people as they look to see if their comments have gone up and then replied to. I myself only read the heading then the comments as in my opinion you're the thinking mans pile of shite.

Lots of anonymice on here today.

16:08 West Ham need to repay their debts not recoup them you moron!

  22. resorting to Leeds stories again?

It must be VERY embarrassing to write a long blog on West Ham on Sunday only to get ZERO COMMENTS

But you know you can write any old crap about Leeds...and sit back...I bet its like lighting the blue touch paper....hits hits hits, comments...we all love Leeds Leeds & Leeds

The evidence from your own blog tells you Leeds are the bigger team!

    Good luck dude

  26. Are West Ham still a team? You seem more worried about Leeds which is usually the mentality of a small-team supporting bellend

  27. Would anyone care to contribute to my xmas appeal to get fat unfunny phil jupitus off our tv screens this festive season?

  28. Leeds United are currently in the second tier of English football. West Ham are in the first currently. Look at your teams performances last season. They did not run away with the second tier title and yet find themselves doing thus far OK in the Premiership.
Leeds will be within a year or two looking down the table to find West Ham, that is if West Ham can stay in the Premiership more than two seasons. You will struggle next season, kick and rush will be found out and punished!

  29. Forgot that Poyet is a mastmind of football!!! Who cares wot that clown has to say anyway? He jumped ship from us to take the second seat at Spurs and between him an Ramos ballsed that job up! So he stands need talking about the prem when he couldn't handle it himself! As for your hits it's all Leeds and you know it. Your own fans couldn't give a monkeys toss about what you write about the trophy dodgers!!! Your not safe in the prem yet if you knew anything about the game you would realise things can dramatically change after the Xmas period! You maybe eating your words in the spring!!! WAFLL!!!

  30. Why don't you just give the Leeds thing a rest you twat and support your own pathetic team for once?

We really don't give a shit about your pathetic team, and we'd rather you stick your pathetic attempts to get hits on this site where the sun don't shine - namely east london......

  31. "Hammersfan said...
It wasn't my point, it was Poyet's point!"

That was obvious, YOU don't have any points, you just use any other team you can to get a hit, because you know your own wet spam fans won't come and play on your pathetic site.....

What a stupid question, didn't you realise this IS a LEEDS site?

It's only called 'Wet Spam' to try and attract a few hits from their fans, although to be honest it hasn't managed it yet.....

  35. you are spot on, it is average, but then again with an average spend of about 1mio each on fees its going to be. That said the prem is average too hence outside top 2/3 it changes weekly . I'll take the back door to the riches of the prem same as West Ham did...very short memory

  36. They are not hits HF - they are clicks. You'd be surprised how many clicks each visitor makes in one visit..... then again, you probably know that the figures are misleading.

  40. Of course there is going to be a lower standard, as you go down the leages. There is a gulf in the prem to! I don't see you lot playing like chelsea were! Or arsenal! Don't worry when diame goes to arsenal. For 3.6m you will go on your dip like norwich, swansea and blackpool etc and plummit. If we beat chelsea it because we are better on the day. And for a side way less avrege than the prem teams, ask a full strength everton and southampton etc if we are average. lol mot
