Cole's Coming Home

He's coming home, he's coming home, he's coming,
Joe Cole's coming home!

Great news? Possibly. Allardyce has a knack for squeezing the dregs from a toothpaste tube and has reignited the careers of a host of players who had apparently "hit the wall".

At his best, Cole is pretty special. He could add a new dimension to the team although one of Jarvis, Vaz Te or Nolan will presumably have to make way to accommodate him.

His goal for Liverpool at Upton Park showed that he can still do it at this level, with the right encouragement and motivation. Maybe, just maybe, this move is exactly what Cole and West Ham need.

  1. Joe Cole ... Not exactly building for the future? Was he free and on minimum wage?

  2. He's coming home at the arse end of his unremarkable career you mean? Talk about Dads Army,oh you already did. But you were talking about some other team though. Upton park, the reject bin of the premier league.

  3. Alol things considered - WHU 1st season back in PL, debt etc, no money to spend, Cole should be an asset to us, even at this late stage in his career, esp. if Sam lets him play his way.
As for anonymous @ 12.49, why not stick to your own team, whovere that may be. Because we Irons supporters don't give a flying phuck about your 'opinions.....

  6. The obvious player who should make way for Joe Cole to be included in the starting line-up is the one who you have the photo at the top of your web-page!

Funny you should miss that after naming so many others who don't even play in the same position as Joe Cole!!!

Stani, can you explain this for me please? How did HF miss that the obvious player (both in terms of merit - poor from - and position) that Joe Cole should replace is Mark Noble and he is suggesting that wingers and forwards should make way to accomodate him?

    ReplyDelete
  7. But Jarvis, Vaz Te and Nolan are all better than Noble the Cockney Pirlo, so why would they make way HF?

    ReplyDelete
  8. So Stani and Sav propose using Joe Cole in a holding midfield role! I've heard it all now!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Who said we'd put Joe Cole in a holding role, HF? No, you haven't heard it...unless in your own head!

  10. Why don't you comment on my comments HF? It makes me feel very sad :'( I was just in such a positive mood...
HOOORAAAAY FOR JC... HOOORAAAAY FOR Mark Noble... Sure there's gonna be room in the squad for both!

  11. So Stani and Sav, who are you moving to the holding role, Nolan, Jarvis or Vaz Te? Those were the three you rated better than Noble. Noble is playing the holding role, so if Cole replaces him, who holds?

    ReplyDelete
  12. It shouldn't be too difficult to find someone to replace Noble in the holding position... It is not as if he is doing a great job there. But surely, Joe Cole cannot replace Jarvis or Vaz Te! He is not a winger or a forward.

  13. Hear we have got him on a two and half year deal paying him £30,000 a week with Liverpool making up the balance. Seems like excellent business for the club to me, much better than anyone in the past has accomplished. With Yoshi's wages out of the way the club is probably in profit on this one.

  14. I've told you man, just text eachother and save on the electricity and humiliation. Look how many people actually care. You don't even have enough people to call yourself a blog. Infact you ought to call yourself a log. A brown steaming log. Are you bruno brookes or what?

  15. Have you been watching West Ham Sav? Vaz Te hasn't been used as a striker. And Cole has been used as a wide man in a 4-3-3 formation for years! I'm sure that's what Allardyce has in mind. That's the role he had earmarked for Yossi.

    1. You CERTAINLY haven't been watching West Ham, Hammersfan. I'm sure Sav has been to at least one game this season rather than missing the first game to watch cricket and then emigrating to Romania!

  16. JOE COLE can play anywhere in midfield or up front he is that versatile.I don't think the issue is who is he going to replace, more like what are the positions he can fill as we are a club that have been cursed with injuries.I think thats why ALLARDYCE has gone for him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Considering if it wasn't for Noble players like Diame wouldnt be able to maraud forward. Sav Nolans positions is more under threat then Nobles cuz Cole plays in behind striker or on the wing of a 433.

    ReplyDelete
  18. And Sav, you suggested Noble should be dropped for Cole, so who are you moving to the holding role, because you can't drop any of the others, as they would then have been dropped for Cole as I suggested! You say Noble's is the "obvious position" for Cole. Is this why you don't rate him, because you haven't understood the role he is playing in the team?

    ReplyDelete
  19. The reason I don't rate him is because he is not as good as he or you and your followers make him out to be. It has nothing to do with my understanding of what position he plays.

He has no pace, he is tentative in his defensive duties and makes critical and costly mistakes. Last but not least, he doesn't create. So, you see, my impression of Noble has nothing to do with what position he plays but how well he plays. At best, Noble is a Championship player.

  20. Sav don't tell us you would have tomkins in the holding role! Well happy with the signing of cole HF, is allardyce winning you round? Nothing like doing it the west ham way than signing former west ham players, that'll be his fourth

  21. 18 comments from the same 5 old names. Plastic hammer, you could all meet in one of the cubicles in the west ham bogs and have your chat there. I know that most of you meet there anyway whilst indulging in your hobbies, but sav, stani, plastic hammer and the "Head"master could all meet up. Couldn't think of a more appropiate place really. Hands up who thinks west ham should change their kit to brown?

  22. Here's one suggestion for you HF:

    .....................Jussi
    Demel..Collins..Reid..O'Brien/Taylor/Linda
    ...................Diame
    Vaz Te........J.Cole..........Jarvis
    ...................Nolan
    ..............Cole/Carroll

Bet my team would beat yours!

    ReplyDelete
  23. But Sav, you have avoided the issue, as usual when you have been clean bowled. You said, check your reply, that Noble's was the "ideal position" for Cole. So you think Cole is a holding midfielder do you? I identified the three players whose positions are at risk because Cole plays in their positions. I did not identify Noble nor Diame/Diarra/Collison because Cole will not battle for the ball in a central midfield role with defensive responsibilities.

  24. Well Stani, you may not have noticed but Diame is injured and is not presently in the team. So, working on the basis of the players IN the team, who do you see Cole replacing?

By the way, when fit, Diame is too much of a powerhouse to be restricted to the holding role.

  27. Hi Paul, Happy New Year mate. If he keeps us up, I will stomach Allardyce.

Hi Essex mate. How are you feeling about Allardyce and the owners now? Tempted to happy clap yet?

    1. Happy new year HF, I have a good feeling he will comfortably keep us up

  28. Guilty as charged HF! Happy?

Let me rephrase: Noble should make way so that we rearrange the team, say, how Stani suggests. Are you satisfied now?

My point is, and I repeat, Noble is not a Premiership calibre player and he shouldn't be playing. Is that clear enough?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Good man Sav, but Diame is not in the team because he is injured.

  30. Joe Cole coming home?! He is bound to be a popular choice and hopefully can add the guile we have been lacking. He will certainly give Upton Park a lift if he plays against Man U. on Saturday..

When he was at Chelsea, Mourinho said he had talent but was difficult to place in the team as he was neither a forward or a midfield player. The obvious role for him is to replace Nolan. I am not convinced that we can afford the luxury of them both in the same team. He can play wide as well (usually on the left, so that would be instead of Jarvis), but he is not a natural winger. I can't see how he can replace Mark Noble. Chamakh fom Arsenal rumoured to be the next arrival. That is not so exciting and he can only be a replacement for Carroll or Carlton Cole?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ok then....

    .......Jack Sullivan
    Vaz Te...J.Cole....Jarvis ..
    ............Nolan .....
    .........Cole/Carroll

    Hahaaaaaa

I was talking about first choice HF. When Diame is injured, I'd consider Noble holding but only last resort. Why Allardyce hasn't tried O'Brien there I don't know. But that's beside the point. Does Noble actually play the holding role at present? Nope, I don't think he does or at least not very well

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh, and Diame won't be restricted to such a uncomplicated role as he's far too talented and has much more to his game. He has the legs to get forward and back unlike Cockney Pirlo. Restrictions come when you have limitations to your abilities

    ReplyDelete
  33. "Restrictions come when you have limitations to your abilities".

That is exactly my point! Well said Stani!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Using Stani's logic, Messi could play centre half, right back and in goal, which he can't of course. Unlike Cole and Jarvis, Noble has played across the midfield, including wide left, wide right, alongside the Parker anchor and in the anchor role himself. In fact, Noble has been messed around by a succession of managers (remember Zola picking him wide on the left?) and has just got on with the job without complaining. He is the sort of player whose value will only be fully appreciated when he is not there. More completed passes than any other player in squad, more average completed passes per game than any other player in the squad, most completed tackles by a midfielder in the squad, most miles covered in total and on average than any other player in the squad...and still Tweedledee and Tweedledum bang their anti Noble drum!

    ReplyDelete
  35. What garbage HF. Messi is not a defender or keeper. Noble is a midfielder with limitations. Diame is a midfielder with far less limitations than Noble. That's the logic.

He's got on with it because he can't believe he's being picked in the side!

    ReplyDelete
  36. is this the same mark noble with some of the best pssing and tackling stats in the whole of the premiership?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sav, re your comment @ 19:45 - "Last but not least, he doesn't create", are you really that blinkered against Noble that you didn't see his pass to Demel that set up Cole's 3 yard howling miss or his dribble that set up JO'B's goal? Sorry pal but you really do talk out of your arsehole,Noble is an average Premier league midfielder no more/no less who's skill sadly doesn't match his endevour but to listen to you & your mate Stani is laughable.

    ReplyDelete
  38. If that's the 'arse end' of Joe Coles career, I'll take that ALL DAY LONG.
