West Ham 2 Wigan 0 - It's official, Fat Sam's singing!

Well it was classic West Ham in one sense - we were kept on the edge of our seats until late in the game before our Premiership place was guaranteed for next season. With Sunderland, Newcastle, Norwich and Stoke all winning, the team chose the worst possible time to switch off, but switch off they did at half time, and for the bulk of the second half, we were not only second best, we were dire. Collins stayed strong and Jussi pulled off a brilliant save, the rebound fortunately by-passing Kone, but those two apart, the players were on the beach enjoying their hols!

Nolan's goal was utterly undeserved, if we are honest, but the 2-0 scoreline shows why Wigan will probably join QPR and Reading in the Championship next season. At the back they are dire, and up front, they have all the firepower of Carlton Cole!

But Big Fat Sam won't care about any of that! Cole was crap, O'Neil was crap, Nolan, his goal apart, was a passenger, Noble was easing himself back, Jarvis was resting on his laurels, Reid played a couple of abysmal passes, Demel headed the ball back across the face of his own goal, Vaz Te was a joke before his withdrawal. But we won, and winning was all that mattered.

Into the top ten now, level on points with Swansea. Every place is worth a cash bonus. If we can finish in the top half, we will look back on a fabulous season!

The guess what Sam is SINGING competition:

Knowing Sam it's not likely to be Bubbles so perhaps . . .

"If they could see me now" (sung to the boards of Newcastle and Blackburn)

or

"I am the one and only"

or

"Staying Alive"

I'm sure you guys can come up with better . . .

How about the Carly Simon classic, slightly adapted: "I'm so vain"?

Oh the hilarity on this site, you must all be laughing uncontrollably at eachothers puns. You're all so whacky and witty. The Games Gone Crazy eh?

What a depressing state football is in. Bonehead route one football from West Ham and Stoke is clearly winning out over any sort of technical play from the likes of Wigan or QPR. Is this the future?

West Ham had 37% possession against Wigan - absolutely laughable. Do you really enjoy watching other teams come and pass you off the park on your own turf? You should hang your heads in shame.

Anony-mouse says,

11.01- Is that really the best you can come up with? As you put it- 'absolutely laughable'. I love to see a bitter man hurt that we won a game.

As for hanging our heads in shame- we're not that sort of fan-base, and never were. We're proud of who we are and right now have a tenacious, determined side who play more football than fools like you recognise or give us credit for. Which is fine cos your views are of no consequence anyway.

Now see if you can form any kind of meaningful reply without resorting to the word 'hoofball'. And one last thing- try telling us who you support next time, or is it you hanging your head in shame regarding that?

Had a death so wasn't able to watch the game live.

Now that I've seen it, was very concerned with the possession stats. I hope we dont start over relying on Carroll, continuously hoofing the ball up to him. It does nothing for fluidity and possession.

I see Jarvis popped up again...I should bash him more often! But on a serious note, he does one thing then disappears completely from the game. He did the same thing against Manchester United. Didn't get mentioned in the second half in that game.

And as for your description of his cross..."it was exactly what the cross deserved. It was beautifully delivered"??? HF, he completely cocked it up. If you watch again, he kicks the floor which is why his cross goes in low. He's never hit a low cross in his life because he doesnt have the quickness of thought or adeptness. If they go in, I wont complain but luck won't save him all the time.

And I see the disease that is Noble is beginning to creep back into the side.

'Noble was easing himself back'.... he played his usual game. Crap.
