I know the official result will be announced tomorrow but we won't all agree with that. And anyway, they don't present the equivalent of a wooden spoon award: "The Swollen Thumb" goes to the Hammer who missed the mark and provoked the "Oh F***!" reaction most over the season!
I could reveal my choices but it might be interesting to hear the views of others first. So, two nominations please, one for the Hammer of the Year, with justifications, and one for the Swollen Thumb of the Year, without the expletives please!
Got to be Green for Hammer of Year. Englands Number One.
ReplyDeleteCole for Swollen Thumb. how many chances has he missed.
Neil hoty and the other one has to be di michale the guy has ability but that dive against liverpool he should have been subbed off instantly
ReplyDeleteCarlton Cole HOTY... LBM for his misses...
ReplyDeleteIs she that ugly Apache?
ReplyDeleteHOTY. Upson for me. He's been brilliant which is just as well with our poor front line.
ReplyDeleteSwollen Thumb(s). The two clowns up top. Tristan and Di Michale
Green, Hammer of the year.
ReplyDeleteNeil and Faubert, Swollen Thumb of the year.
i would say pepperami for HOTY
ReplyDeleteStrong contenders in both categories this year. Rob Green, Henrietta Ilunga, Matt Upson, Scott Parker and Carlton Cole are all good candidates for HoTY. Young Hammer is Jack Collison, hands down winner. The 'Swollen Thumb' is between DiMickeymouse, Boa Morte and Faubert for me. For the sheer waste of money and lack of effort I'll go for the Fat Frog. Boa escapes due to his terrier-like effort. As for the 1993 Italian Free-Diving Champ - I can't stand him....actually, fack it - Faubert and DiMichele can share the award!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe the first reply nominated Cole for swollen thumb! What the ****!
ReplyDeleteWhats wrong with the first reply? Cole has missed more chances then he ever scored and cost more points than he won. An supossed to be second choice striker
ReplyDeleteAn orger! Don't forget the guy is black as well!
ReplyDeleteAnyway anonymous, who are you nominating?
ReplyDeleteHammer = UPSON
ReplyDeleteSwollen Thumb = Di Michelle
hoty - James Tomkins
ReplyDeleteSwollen thumb - no-one, everyones playedd a blinder
All played a blinder? That explains it! Di Michele needs a labrador and a white stick to find the net!
ReplyDeleteit's got to be herita ilunga or valon behrami because they have had excellent first seasons in the premier league swollen thumb of the year has got to be di michele that poor attempt to dive for a penalty was terreble ! He should have scored !
ReplyDeleteFor me Herita Ilunga for HOTY - just ahead of Rob Green - where others have missed good parts of the season, he's played most games, has been consistent and absolutely persistent in his desire and has shown an ability to take instructions and learn e.g. we don't see him waving to the fans anymore when he is defending in the box.
ReplyDeleteAs for the 'swollen thumb' I'll give the two up top the benefit of the doubt and refrain from denigrating them. Maybe they look as if they are not trying but it is probably the case that they are simply not up to it.
HOTY is Green for me. We quickly forget the effectiveness of a solid goalkeeper. He has kept us in games all season.
ReplyDeleteSwollen Thumb - should be Faubert, not just for his football, but for his head being considerably larger than he understands it to be.
Green for my HOTY.
ReplyDeleteDi Michele for Swollen Thumb after that miss, dive and booking.
Green for hammer of the year.
ReplyDeleteFaufart for swollen thumb, head and waist award.
hammer of the year is ilunga for me because he has stayed fit and consistent. swollen thumb is di michele. useless.
ReplyDeletecome of it. swollen thumb has to be ashton. swollen thumb, swollen ankle, swollen gut, swollen ego, swollen wage packet. needs a kick in the balls so theyre swollen to.
ReplyDeletehammer is upson for me.
Cole and Tristan.
ReplyDeleteGreen,Upson or Cole for Hoty
ReplyDeletefaubert swallon thumb...
what striker scores more than he misses...rooney,henry and more top strikers miss more than they score.
Swollen Thumbs Down for this blog site.
ReplyDeleteThree times now I have registered a blogger name. Three times subsequent the system hasn't recognised me when I have wanted to return. Bullshit thing says it doesn't recognise my password.
I f&%$en hate it when something or someone wastes my time - no more - I'm done.
All I wanted to say was "Get me Gary Alexander" - you can have the rest of our forwards.
I think you have to register a Google ID mate, not one for this site.
