Zola Is Only Biding His Time

This article has been submitted by Hotshot C. I neither endorse nor reject the opinions expressed.

The saviour of Claret and Blue – Zola! I hear you shout. In the background are murmurs of discontent – is he for real?

Zola has been quoted as believing that West Ham can compete for Champions League football. I’m all for the cause but that’s sheer stupidity! The club nearly got into the Europa Cup via an extra place given thanks to one of the top six winning the FA Cup. There’s no guarantee that the same will happen this season, and furthermore Tottenham will have strengthened their cause as will Man City, Fulham, Aston Villa and Everton. That’s six teams fighting it out for two spots, 5th and 6th and, if we are brutally honest, we hardly have any cash to entice players, like Man city and to a lesser degree Tottenham, and unlike the other teams can’t currently offer European football.

I think like Tevez (and Mascherano) before him, Zola (and Clarke) are merely using West Ham as a shop window and acclimatization area before moving onto their real ambition of a bigger club. If Zola thinks he’s going to achieve greatness in a bankrupt club then he’s only kidding himself or the gullible supporters.

Enjoy the ride while you can, because the honeymoon’s not going to last long.

  2. You seem confused. I don't think Hotshot has mentioned Tottenham before.

  3. like Ron Greenwood was biding his time waiting for the England manager's job? The articles you write are bad enough, why sub-contract this crap out?

  4. I second that - Hotshot hasn't mentioned spurs before... Anyhow he's mentioned loads of other teams in the blog...?

  5. If you think you can do better, submit an article. I will proof read it and post it. Share your opinions on West Ham instead of just sniping at others.

  6. Tottenham were mentioned in a good light. As were the other teams that we were competing with for the europa spot.....people are just slating this blog for the sake of it now. At least read the articles before commenting....

  7. My opinion on West Ham is that they could well do without you and your talk radio style of baiting readers with outlandish articles designed to get not only multiple hits for your effort (by listing names of clubs in the headlines for maximum newsnow coverage) but also to antagonise the fans of the very club you purport to support. I am not sniping at you, I am just airing my opinion, a right you would surely concede i have.

Hot Shot, I find you and your thread more depressing than a Leonard Cohen record, in fact, you make Neil Morrissey's lyrics seem quite cheerful in comparison. In a state of utter boredom, do you just sit there thinking of crap to post as this post is absolute cynical bollocks, so go and crawl back under your stone before I go and end up sticking my head in the oven, what a twat you really are. With a handle like Hot Shot, I suspect that you are a Tottscum fan endevering to stir things up on West Ham fan's sites.

  11. Why not debate the points in the article instead of missing the point and slagging each other off... Main points being West Ham are not Champions league material - as Zola thinks. And that there is no money in the club to buy the decent players that are needed. And that Zola and Clarke aren't going to hang around with mid table success for ever - if the club doesn't get a cash injection...

  12. 0734, I have no idea if this is the same Hotshot and I don't care. This guy speaks a lot of sense. I don't always agree with him and he doesn't always agree with me but that's not the point of this blog. He is entitled to express his opinions as is anybody who is literate. Sadly, on the evidence of your reply, that condition rules you out!

  13. Duxberry's eyebrows - why is it depressing? Because it's the truth? When I first said on West Ham blogs that Curbishly was a bad choice people slagged me off for being disloyal - But it didn't take long for people to slag him off too, when they saw the boring football he played, and the fact that he couldn't attract any world class players to the team.... The problem is with you, that you don't have any foresight! And only when the rest of the sheep agree will you follow - Im only talking logical sense, it's not rocket science...
